I visited a restaurant in Nishi-Shinjuku where you can enjoy turtle cuisine. It is located right by Nishi-Shinjuku Station on the Marunouchi Line, on the 1st floor of Oak Tower. The entrance had a calm, traditional Japanese atmosphere. There were several private rooms available depending on the number of people. It's a great place for entertaining clients or celebrating special occasions. We opted for the course menu. - Turtle Karaage: Crispy fried turtle with a slightly sweet sauce. Delicious! - Hamanako Seaweed Vinegar: A refreshing vinegar dish with seaweed from Hamanako. The seaweed flavor was excellent. - Turtle Nabe: The main dish was turtle hot pot, made with carefully selected turtle from Saga Prefecture. It was collagen-rich and comforting. - Live Ise Prawn Sashimi and Live Ezo Abalone Sashimi: Luxurious sashimi platter with fresh Ise prawn and whole Ezo abalone. The abalone was small but had a great texture and taste. - Beef Sirloin and Seasonal Vegetables Sukiyaki with Onsen Tamago: We also had beef sirloin sukiyaki, featuring tender meat and a delicious onsen tamago (soft-boiled egg). - Mebari Sushi and Ise Prawn Kabuto Soup: The Ise prawn kabuto soup had a rich broth and was very tasty. The mebari sushi was flavorful and refreshing. Overall, the course was satisfying with a variety of dishes including turtle, sashimi, and meat. I would definitely consider visiting this restaurant again for special occasions. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Lunch options include a choice between a 4-item or 3-item Matsukado bento or curry. On this day, I chose the 4-item Matsukado bento, which costs 1,100 yen compared to the 3-item option at 1,000 yen. With 12 items to choose from, it can be a tough decision. I ended up selecting the beef belly tofu, tofu salad, mackerel overnight dried fish, and chicken tempura with ponzu sauce. The beef belly tofu had a flavorful taste that went well with rice. The tofu salad with shiso dressing was refreshing, and the chicken tempura with ponzu sauce was also delicious. However, the mackerel was a bit disappointing due to the specific cut. Nevertheless, the rice and miso soup were so tasty that I had to get seconds. The quality of rice can really make a difference in a meal. The restaurant opens at 11:30 am, but it fills up quickly by 45 minutes past opening. While the service is fast, the seating is in private rooms, so it can take around 40 minutes to finish a meal. Due to this, there isn't usually a long line, but they sell a lot of bento boxes. I'll definitely come back early next time to enjoy another meal.

*Waiting Time* I waited for about 10 minutes on a weekday around 11:50. *Order & Price* I chose a set meal option. *Atmosphere* Not mentioned. *Service* Not mentioned. *Impression* I ordered a set with salad and chicken and shrimp tempura. Even though it was just two salads, they were satisfying and all tasted pretty good. *Expectations* I felt that it was a convenient place to enjoy a leisurely chat.

I used this restaurant for the second time for a reception. There are only three private rooms, giving it a hidden gem feeling. The course meals, including the softshell turtle dishes, are all meticulously prepared and wonderful. Last time I ordered an 11,000 yen course, and this time a 17,000 yen course. The staff's hospitality is also excellent!

I heard about Matsuhana-do where you can choose your side dishes, so I decided to visit. There were menus posted outside the shop where you can choose 3 items from 10 for 1000 yen, or 4 items for 1100 yen. I chose 4 items - grilled beef kalbi, pork shabu, grilled mackerel, and steamed chicken salad. The dishes arrived not very fresh but slightly warm, and they were quite filling. Each dish came with decent side dishes and was reasonably tasty. The only downside was the rice, which didn't taste good. Maybe it had been cooked for a while. However, considering the price and the overall quality, I can't complain. I will definitely visit again.

*Waiting time* Within 5 minutes before 1 pm on Wednesday *Order & Price* Three choices of Matsukado bento for 1000 yen *Atmosphere* The private room with high ceilings was comfortable. *Service* There were many side dishes to choose from, and the staff taking note of who ordered what was impressive. *Impressions* The curry was sweet and delicious, with a Japanese twist. The tofu salad had large, healthy tofu pieces. The hamburger was soft, but could have been a bit more meaty. There was a lot of rice, so a smaller portion might have been better. With so many side dishes, it was hard to decide. *Expectations* Despite the food and tableware not feeling very high-end considering the atmosphere, I enjoyed being able to try a variety of dishes.

I went for lunch on a regular day. I arrived 5 minutes after the opening. There were already a few customers ahead of me. If you are dining alone, you will be seated at the counter. The choices were between Fried Oyster Set and Matsukado Bento. I hesitated for a moment but ended up choosing Matsukado Bento because you can choose 4 side dishes. I vaguely remember having grilled meat, meat and tofu, chicken and shrimp tempura (with a tempura sauce), and rice with dried young sardines and grated radish. You can also have seconds of rice and miso soup. I don't usually eat out for Japanese food because many dishes are sweetened, and I don't like sweet side dishes. But this restaurant had a nice level of sweetness that made me feel warm and cozy. The sweetness of the meat and tofu was especially exquisite.

In a compartmentalized bento box, I had the Matsukado bento. The name of the box comes from a monk named Matsukado Shonen in the Edo period, but it seems that it was used as a bento box around 1933. You can choose 4 out of 12 side dishes such as mapo tofu, fish, and egg salad. I chose curry, hamburger steak, potato salad, and shrimp tempura & chicken tempura. They were all delicious and went well with the rice. You can get refills for rice and miso soup.

I felt like eating grilled fish but couldn't find a calm place near Shinjuku Station West Exit, so I gave up and on my way back home, I found this lunch spot. I decided to try the 4-dish Matsukado bento where you can choose from 12 different side dishes, including dried mackerel. The lunch was 1000 yen including tax. The bento arrived in about 5 minutes and the mackerel and chicken tempura were served hot. The grated daikon radish served with the mackerel was coarse, not the usual smooth texture, which prevented the mackerel from getting watery and allowed me to enjoy it hot. The side dishes I chose were well-seasoned and went well with the rice. Despite already having a large serving, I wanted to get a refill, but I resisted because I've been scolded by the doctor for being unhealthy lately. However, I should have at least gotten a refill for the soup. Calling for a refill was easy with the bell on the table. The atmosphere was different from the Sappontenichi in Shinjuku Station South Exit, and I was guided to a counter seat (4 seats) on the left as soon as I entered, where I could eat calmly. It was surprisingly empty when I arrived, but soon it got crowded with solo diners and groups, and by noon it was full. The customers were mostly middle-aged men in groups, but the counter room was all female. They also sold bento boxes for 650 yen outside, which attracted a long line. The 650 yen bento with mainly Japanese side dishes seemed like a good deal. Both the 1000 yen lunch and the bento boxes were appealing, and I would like to come back for lunch again if I have the chance.

I went without high expectations, but it was quite good (^^) Excuse me, the meal and soup are all-you-can-eat. It costs 1000 yen including tax. You can choose from 4 types of side dishes. I chose curry and had seconds (^ω^) Only curry is available for seconds among the side dishes. Maybe I didn't need to order the recommended corn salad after all (^-^; It seems more cost-effective to choose meat or fish! There are also plenty of side dish options, so I'd like to go again.

I chose 4 dishes out of 12 options for 1,000 yen. It was a bit small in portion size but all of them were delicious. However, I think I shouldn't have chosen the curry roux. I should have gone with a different dish instead. Overall, this place is highly rated for a building lunch.

I visited during lunchtime. I was surprised by the extensive menu options and the fast service. I ordered the daily special, which was an eel bowl. The three-leaf herb in the miso soup was delicious, with a rich aroma and no overpowering taste. It was a pleasant experience to eat.

Located in a building that is easily accessible from Ome Kaido, this restaurant in Shinjuku West Exit area caught my attention. It has a traditional Japanese restaurant vibe and although the lunch menu was priced at 1000 yen, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant mainly offers set meals consisting of a rice bowl or noodles. I opted for the curry rice bowl with cold soba noodles and tempura. The curry had a rich European flavor with tender beef pieces, while the soba noodles were thin and firm, complemented by a subtle sesame chili oil dressing. The tempura was crispy and unique, adding to the overall satisfaction of the meal. Despite the limited vegetable options, the quality and taste of the dishes made the 1000 yen price tag a great deal.

At night, it is a high-class Japanese cuisine restaurant specializing in turtle dishes, but for lunch, you can eat at a casual price without needing a private room. They also sell bento boxes at the storefront. For lunch, they offer casual options like seafood bowls and curry. The private room lunch starts at 2800 yen. I opted for the casual lunch and ordered a seafood bowl. You can choose from three types of soup: clear soup, soba, or udon. I chose soba. Rice refills are free, but the portions are quite generous, so women may want to ask for a smaller portion. I noticed that someone who ordered curry had three rice refills and I thought to myself, "youth is amazing." The dishes are served in plastic containers, giving more of a cafeteria vibe rather than a high-class restaurant atmosphere. It's easy to enter and feels welcoming. They also sell bento boxes at the storefront, which often have long lines. It seems that there are not many lunch options for the number of people working in this building. Whenever I look, there is always a line at the restaurants in this building after 12:00.

I was seated in a private room with a sophisticated atmosphere. The menu was slightly different from the one in Minami Shinjuku. The food was delicious here as well. It was a course menu, but I felt like there was a bit less turtle compared to Minami Shinjuku.

I like four types of side dishes. I want to have seconds of curry, so I chose based on cost-effectiveness for the meat and side dishes, but I ended up feeling bloated. I don't think the fish was that good. I feel like the food was tastier last time I went. Maybe I made the wrong choices.
