Hello, I found a perfect restaurant for entertaining, dating, or showing filial piety! This is Gurumani! Sometimes you crave authentic Japanese cuisine! It's just a 5-minute walk from Shinbashi or Ginza, so convenient, and the underground location gives it a hidden gem feel! The interior, with its wooden counter, exudes a high level of sophistication! Today, I had a course meal in a private room! The variety of drinks is intriguing! And smokers can enjoy smoking inside, which is a big plus for them! Let's dig in! The first dish, chilled corn with appetizer, was genius! The crunchy and cool texture made me forget the summer heat from the first bite! The black pepper added another layer of flavor! The winter melon shrimp mince appetizer was delightful, with the winter melon being crunchy and the shrimp being refined. I finished it in no time, it was that good! The appetizer with oyster and beef roll felt like a light rain dish! The okra wrapped inside made me feel like summer again! The myoga sushi, a favorite of mine, had a crunchy texture and the saltiness of caviar was irresistible! The fig with sesame cream was delicious! I love figs! It reminded me of my pastry chef days when I used figs a lot in making cakes! The umaki was undeniably delicious! The fluffy egg roll with eel inside and that sauce was just amazing! The jelly mix of herring roe was a first for me! What even is herring roe? The bouncy texture and soft jelly were a new experience, and it was so smooth! The sashimi platter was top-notch! The cucumber was so stylish, and I love shiso leaves, so this was perfect for me! The tataki grilled swordfish with sudachi and tomato jelly inside was adorable! It looked like watermelon, and the winter melon was crunchy and delicious! The fluffy swordfish with crunchy leeks inside was irresistible! The braised pork belly was superb! The thick and tender seasoning was just right! And the eggplant in the back was also amazing! I wish they would serve this as a rice bowl for lunch! The vinegar dish with oyster and sea urchin was impressive! Isn't it amazing to have persimmons in a vinegar dish? And the sea urchin piled on top of the oyster was incredible! The oyster was so creamy and rich! The fried ayu spring roll was too cool, right? And delicate too, right? The spring roll had finely chopped cucumbers hidden inside, so the crispy spring roll skin, the fluffy ayu, and the crunchy cucumbers combined were just perfect! The ayu rice cracker was also amazing, and I think the sauce at the bottom is made of knotweed. Ayu goes well with knotweed, right? Knotweed is a bit unpleasant to eat alone, but when combined with ayu, it's really delicious! The grilled flounder with chilled tea pickles was fantastic! I couldn't pronounce flounder for a long time, and then I found out it's pronounced "kochi"! The bouncy texture, chilled tea pickles, and the flounder were a perfect match!
