Izakaya located in the drinking district near the west exit of Ikebukuro. Used as a second stop. When entering the underground shop, there were a decent number of seats available. The appetizer was roast beef. They had almost all the typical izakaya menu items, plus their specialty seemed to be gyoza. The Hakata gyoza with wings was delicious and easy to eat. They also had variations like cheese and whole shrimp, which were fun to try. It was reasonably priced and good.

There is a gyoza restaurant on Nishiichiban Street Central Avenue that has been around for a long time. I prefer gyoza that can be eaten in one bite, so I occasionally visit this restaurant. On this day, the appetizer was roast beef... I ended up getting full. So, I only ordered salted kombu and green peppers along with the gyoza. I ate plenty of gyoza. Personally, I really liked the shiso gyoza. I would like to come back to eat here again.

Vegetable potage tantan noodles for ¥790 (+tax) with a rice dish included. There was a coupon available at the storefront (1F) for ¥200 off the total price. The noodle shop seems to be a temporary setup, serving tantan noodles with a sesame-based creamy soup that has a hint of sweetness. The cheese risotto as a side dish is recommended, but I found it better when not soaked too much. It's similar to an "on the rice" dish in terms of portion size.

I used it for the second time. There is a good selection of light snacks (recommended pickled small eggplants), and my favorite green tea is available ♡ I was full, so I ordered a bite-sized dumpling and was satisfied! The course is also cheap, so I'm thinking of visiting the first place next time. They were running a limited-time lucky draw campaign where you could win a bottle of alcohol or other nice prizes even if you didn't win!

Recently, I couldn't seem to shake off my craving for dumplings, so I did some research and found this place. It's located underground beneath a restaurant called Gunkeiichi that I often visit. They offer a single item all-you-can-drink menu, but unfortunately, the Jin Beam was not on the regular menu. Despite the menu listing it as a Kaku Highball, I decided to order it as a single item. However, until 6 pm, drinks and dumplings are discounted. So, I ordered a Kaku Highball. For food, I had the Iron Skillet Dumplings (10 pieces for 800 yen), which were small but piping hot. The filling was refreshing with no particular umami taste, and the skin was moist. It was completely different from the crispy type in Utsunomiya. And for this quality, I would never order it for 800 yen. I also had the Chicken Tataki for 680 yen, which was well-seared on the skin and paired nicely with the horse sashimi sauce, as well as ponzu sauce. This was a hit. I tried the specialty Horse Sashimi 2 kinds for 980 yen, consisting of lean meat and fatty meat. The horse sashimi was small in size, with the lean meat having some sweetness and the fatty meat being decent. The Yukhoe served alongside was also decent. I thought about ordering a hot pot, but for some reason, I was seated right in front of the entrance, so I ended up just having some snacks. It's just a regular izakaya.

For someone who loves dumplings like myself, this place offers a great happy hour deal! After 10pm, you can enjoy the famous iron pot dumplings, as well as the popular ham cutlet, highball, and lemon sour at discounted prices. They also offer mega-sized portions, making it easy to visit for the first or second time. The restaurant has about 30 open seats, and even late at night, it was bustling with young people. I ordered the iron pot dumplings, but had to wait about 20 minutes due to the crowd. The dumplings were bite-sized and light. The ham cutlet was satisfying and filling. I also tried the grilled ramen and grilled offal, both of which were easy to eat and flavorful. The grilled offal had a rich miso-based flavor and a generous portion.

After work, I visited the "Hakata Gyoza-ya Tetsu Nabe Nishi-Ikebukuro" for a meeting over dinner. I didn't do any research beforehand and just walked in, but the place was almost full probably because it was a holiday on a Monday. Luckily, we were able to find a table and sit down. The restaurant has a setup with both counter seats and tables, and there was a wide range of customers from young people to salarymen, couples, and groups of women. Gyoza seemed to be popular as it was ordered at almost every table. We also ordered a few different types, but the most impressive ones were:
- Tetsu Nabe Gyoza: Small in size with thin skin and a soft filling, this was amazing! It goes really well with highballs, and even better with a side of yuzu pepper.
- Cheese Gyoza: The skin was different from the Tetsu Nabe Gyoza, it was chewy and loved by girls.
- Shiso Gyoza: The refreshing flavor of shiso makes it easy to eat and enjoyable. Personally, I love shiso so I was happy to see this variation in gyoza.
It takes a bit of time to cook the gyoza, but the taste was excellent. There are also many other Kyushu dishes with good cost performance, so I've decided this will be my go-to casual izakaya! It was a very satisfying meal, and I will definitely visit again!

I am someone who drinks beer for my first drink, but recently the beer quality has been bad wherever I go! So, I searched for a place certified as a master of draft beer on the Suntory website, and found this place. I made a reservation and went there, but the place was packed. The staff seemed busy and didn't notice me right away, but I ordered a draft beer! Oh! Isn't it in good condition? I ordered a cast iron pot gyoza and some snacks to go with my drinks. It was quite lively, so after a while, I left the restaurant, but for me, this is a place I would like to visit for my second time.

The restaurant is very busy. I ordered the iron pot dumplings, shiso dumplings, and pan-fried soup dumplings. The iron pot dumplings have a nice texture on the skin, but the filling is a bit lacking. Thanks to the iron pot, they stay warm until the end, which is nice. Considering the price, the amount of filling is acceptable. The shiso dumplings don't have much shiso flavor, so they don't stand out. As for the pan-fried soup dumplings, there is a better place near Ikebukuro Station, so I couldn't help but compare. The soup is a bit lacking, and overall, nothing really stands out. The prices are low, so it's a good option for hot pot or ramen, and it could be good for a drinking party. It seems to be a very popular restaurant.

I went before 7 pm on Friday and the restaurant was about 70% full. The cod chanja with sesame oil was delicious. Be careful as the iron pot dumplings are very hot. Salt only goes well with them and they were delicious. The Kirishima chicken tempura was more like a fritter with a strong coating. I wonder if they use a mix of tempura and batter. The Kumamoto-sent horse sashimi was good, with no unpleasant smell and a good amount. The wasabi edamame had just a hint of wasabi. The firefly squid was rare and had a slight raw smell, which I didn't like. It was nice to be able to eat it freshly grilled. By around 8 pm, the restaurant was full with a waiting list. I didn't know it was a 2-hour limit, but we were told it was last call after 1.5 hours.

Visited on a Sunday evening for the first time. Two groups of customers were already there, and more kept coming in, almost full house. Ordered iron pot dumplings, cheese dumplings, garlic dumplings, Russian dumplings, spicy cucumber, bell pepper and kelp salad(?), two types of horse meat, potato salad, etc. The two types of horse meat were delicious. Everything else was average, including the dumplings. The dumplings were not bad, but they were a bit disappointing considering they are the specialty of the restaurant. The service was very good and the restaurant was clean. The staff seemed inexperienced in sales, but they are nice people, so with more training in sales, the restaurant could become even better. I would like to revisit after some time. If nothing has changed by then, I will not visit again.

I wonder if they were affected by the pandemic? When I casually mentioned to the staff that it was my birthday yesterday (even though I didn't ask), they surprised me. This is a great restaurant!

There were many different kinds of dumplings and it was fun! I think the regular pan-fried dumplings were the best!!

I visited the "Hakata Gyoza-ya Tetsunabe" in Nishi-Ikebukuro, which is part of the same chain that I have visited in Shibuya before. I made a reservation because Ikebukuro is always crowded on weekends. As expected, the restaurant was almost full. As soon as I entered, they kept reminding me that they have a two-hour time limit. It seems like they are really strict about turnover, especially on Fridays. We started with a toast with a glass of beer. This time, I used the "free gyoza coupon" that I received from the Shibuya store, so we got 20 pieces of the special "one-bite gyoza" for free as there were four of us! These gyoza are really small and perfect for snacking. They are easy to eat and reasonably priced. We also enjoyed other dishes such as Hakata-style pan-fried soup dumplings (6 pieces for 630 yen), spicy tan-tan soup gyoza (5 pieces for 520 yen), shiso gyoza (7 pieces for 520 yen), and crispy fried chicken wings with Kirishima chicken (480 yen). Personally, I liked the tan-tan soup gyoza and shiso gyoza. Looking at the prices of the menu items, you can see that they are quite reasonable. I recommend opting for the all-you-can-drink option for drinks. Despite the restaurant being busy, we were fortunate to be seated in the only private room, allowing us to enjoy our meal without worrying about the surroundings. The staff were also very friendly, making it a place I would like to visit again.

There were some dishes with flavors that were honestly a bit questionable. Despite that, the prices were high. It was crowded during Golden Week, but the food took a long time to come out. The sours were also quite bland.
