I went to Mr. Tsuru Jiro's hanare and ordered the grilled mentaiko mochi cheese ball. It was delicious, just as the rumors said. I also had a glass of draft beer. They finished the dish by adding a nice char with a burner, which was a great performance.

The interior of the store is incredibly clean and has a nice atmosphere. It may take a little time before you get your order, so be aware of that. It was my first time eating Monjayaki at a restaurant, and it was quite tasty with a strong sauce flavor and easy to eat. I like it when it's quite burnt, so I enjoyed waiting for it while sipping on some drinks. It's a great place for a date, and I had a lot of fun.

My partner saw this place featured on TV and wanted to try it, so we met up in Asakusa. The main store had a long line, so we went to Hanare instead and were seated right away. We ordered the mentaiko okonomiyaki with cheese curry rice balls, which were unique. The food is cooked in the kitchen but finished with a burner at the table. The okonomiyaki, including the cabbage, was fluffy and delicious. We also got complimentary anko rolls for filling out a survey.

I absolutely wanted to eat here, so I lined up 10 minutes before the opening. This monjayaki restaurant in Asakusa has a stylish interior, which is rare. It's recommended for dates. I think there were 28 seats on the first floor and 38 seats on the second floor, but it filled up quickly after opening. They have recommended dishes, as well as customizable options, so I was able to enjoy both.

I visited the restaurant around 3:00 pm on a holiday. The interior was indeed clean as mentioned in reviews. I ordered the Special Monja-yaki and the Mentaiko Okonomiyaki. I was recommended to have the Mentaiko Okonomiyaki made by the staff, so I only cooked the Monja-yaki myself. Maybe my expectations were too high? I was surprised that the Mentaiko Okonomiyaki made by the staff had dry batter. The Monja-yaki was okay in terms of taste, but I didn't think it was worth the wait.

Today's goal was to try the seared mentaiko at Tsuru Jirou! When I arrived at the main store around 1 pm on a Sunday, there was a line of over 20 people, so I decided to try my luck at HANARE. Luckily, there was one table available just in time! As expected, the seared mentaiko with mochi and cheese was deliciously gooey when torched with a burner. Highly recommended!【Store Information】"Tsuru Jirou HANARE" @tsurujirou #Asakusa #AsakusaGourmet #Okonomiyaki #Monjayaki1-36-2 Asakusa, Taito-ku, Tokyo2 minutes walk from Asakusa StationMon-Fri 11:30-15:00, 17:00-22:00Sat/Sun/Holidays 11:30-15:00, 17:00-21:00*No reservations on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays【Ordered Menu】★Okonomiyaki - Seared Mentaiko with Mochi and Cheese Ball ¥1,480★Okonomiyaki - Mixed Ball ¥1,480★Pork Kimchi Monjayaki ¥1,450#Gourmet #Beer #CraftBeer #SparklingWine #TokyoGourmet #Tabelog #Top100Restaurants #Pasta #Italian #Wine

I was waiting in line at the main store on a holiday evening, but they said they could seat us right away at the second store, which is about a 3-minute walk from the main store. The second store was also almost full, and there was still a line here as well. I ordered a beer and a special monjayaki right away, but I was disappointed to find nori stuck to the inside of the beer glass. I informed the staff and they replaced it with a new one, but I wish they would check thoroughly before serving. Also, I heard several customers from different tables saying things like "I ordered XX and it still hasn't come yet." After finishing the first monjayaki order, I decided to add an okonomiyaki to my order. I was told it would take about 20 minutes to prepare as it is cooked in the kitchen before being served. While this is understandable, as it was my first visit, I didn't quite understand the restaurant's style, so I wish they would explain this at the beginning or clearly mention it on the menu. This way, customers can plan their orders accordingly and it could help improve the turnover rate for the restaurant. Since I had no plans and plenty of time, I decided to wait for it. I also felt like having a snack, so I ordered the Cream Cheese with Miso flavor. However, even after 10 minutes, it still hadn't arrived. When I asked the staff, they confirmed the order was placed and it was being prepared. It finally arrived after over 15 minutes from ordering. I was surprised by how long it took, especially since I ordered it as a snack while waiting for the okonomiyaki. A few minutes later, the okonomiyaki also arrived. I understand they were busy, but I would appreciate it if they could consider the customer's perspective a bit more. In terms of taste, the Special Monjayaki for 1,590 yen was just average, so it's best not to have high expectations. The Okonomiyaki for 1,800 yen had three delicious flavors. The Cream Cheese for 680 yen was incredibly delicious! It paired well with the bread and was perfect as a snack with alcohol. As for the beer, I was happy to see they had Spring Valley in addition to Kirin Ichiban Shibori.

During a business trip to Tokyo, I extended my journey to Asakusa for dinner. I was looking for the okonomiyaki restaurant where Rino-chan (HKT48's Rino Sakamoto) and Wakanyan (also from HKT48, Kazuma Murakami) had eaten together. I found out from Instagram that it was Asakusa Tsurujiro, but when I visited in the evening, it was fully booked. Instead, I was guided to Hanare. They handed me an A4-sized introduction paper (I think it was in a clear file pouch) in a familiar manner. Hanare was the place I ended up at, newer than the main store and seemed to have availability. The interior was a stylish okonomiyaki restaurant with jazz music playing. Rino-chan and Wakanyan had eaten okonomiyaki and monjayaki here, but looking at the Instagram photos, the dishes didn't look like typical okonomiyaki. The menu indicated a two-flavor (futami) yaki where you could enjoy pork balls and mentaiko mochi cheese. Just to be sure, I showed the photo to the staff and placed my order. It cost 1340 yen. After a while, the dish arrived. It was a long rectangular shape with one half being orange mentaiko mochi cheese and the other half being fluffy pork balls hidden under bonito flakes. The mentaiko mochi cheese side had a fluffy texture with crunchy cabbage, and the pork balls side was delicious with bonito flakes shaved by a machine and a sweet sauce. Rino-chan and Wakanyan had also eaten monjayaki, but I had to give up eating it alone here (well, I could have eaten it if I wanted to, but I'm on a low-carb diet...).
