The restaurant is located on a street near the Meguro Chuo Gymnasium, far from any station. In the past, there were many small factories in the area, so there were many Chinese restaurants catering to the workers in the corner of the town in Nishi-Koyama. However, with the changing times, these local Chinese restaurants are disappearing (I know of at least six within a 500-meter radius). Despite this trend, this particular restaurant is still operating well. You can spot it by the delivery bikes parked outside. During lunchtime, there are already customers in work clothes dining. I came here specifically for the now rare dish of miso stir-fried pork, which used to be a staple at local Chinese restaurants. I also ordered some shumai. The shumai comes with shredded cabbage for some reason. The shumai is large and has a fluffy texture, very delicious. But it's a bit pricey. I wish they would lower the price, even if they made the portions smaller. The miso stir-fried pork is loaded with meat. The miso, combined with doubanjiang, gives it a slightly spicy kick. The sautéed onions are sweet and tasty. The combination of the meat's umami, the sweetness of the onions, and the slight spiciness creates a delicious flavor. It goes well with rice. Strangely, a Yakult drink is included. This is provided with every set meal. I drank it in one gulp at the end. I'm satisfied. In the evening, as the night begins to fall, I enter the restaurant to find the regular group of elderly customers starting their usual drinking session. I decide to order the cold noodles since it's summer. The cold noodles have a black vinegar flavor. The balance of sourness and sweetness is good. However, the noodles are lukewarm. I understand they are freshly boiled, but I wish they were colder. The toppings include shredded omelet, thinly sliced cucumber, bean sprouts, pickled ginger, and other standard ingredients. The generous portion is a plus. In conclusion, while the variety of set meals and dishes is less compared to recent Chinese restaurants, everything is delicious and the portions are generous. However, the prices for side dishes like shumai are high. All the side dishes are meant to be main dishes, with large portions and high prices. Nevertheless, I hope this local Chinese restaurant continues to thrive in the future.
