French yakitori and wine pairing that pairs twice Shaji It was my first time to get off at Azabu-Juban, where I made a same-day reservation, so I couldn't choose the 8000 yen course and opted for the 6000 yen course, which included: - Greeting appetizer x 2 - Cold dishes x 2 - 4 pieces of yakitori paired with white wine - Today's hot dish - 4 pieces of yakitori paired with red wine In the midst of the recent high-end yakitori boom, this was quite reasonable The white wine pairing was subtle Wine pairing with 80ml pours of 5 different wines ranging from 5000 yen These small portions show consideration for the diners, making sure to pair each dish properly The greeting appetizer had a nice name and seemed to embody the essence of the restaurant The cold dishes included a trio of carpaccio, each with its own unique twist and flavor The tuna with karasumi was exceptional The salad with prosciutto, almonds, and balsamic vinegar was a great combination The yakitori paired with white wine included: - Chicken tenderloin with mustard - Chicken tail with smoked black pepper - Chicken skin with honey and lemon sauce - Chicken thigh with green pepper and semi-dried tomato sauce The hot dish of the day was like a meatball with tomato and cheese The yakitori paired with red wine included: - Chicken gizzard with garlic and something (forgot) - Chicken neck with cream sauce - Chicken liver with red wine sauce Additional dishes included edamame, quail with caviar, tsukune with cheese or sea urchin, and chicken wings with lemon The signature truffle rice had a generous amount of truffle, with a gentle yet impactful aroma For dessert, there was Sauternes wine I also had a few additional glasses of wine, so with the extra rice, it came out to around 20,000 yen per person I may have gotten a bit carried away with my orders, but it was all delicious! Thank you for the meal!

Tonight, I went to Shaji in Azabu-Juban for a dinner gathering! I was excited to have my favorite yakitori in Azabu-Juban! When I walked from Azabu-Juban station and saw Roppongi Hills, I knew I was getting close! I could see the grilling area from outside, and the atmosphere seemed nice! Inside, it felt more like a stylish bistro than a yakitori place! The crowd was mostly young men and women, giving off a trendy vibe! Of course, there was that Minato-ku feel too! Cheers with a beer! The appetizer looked like a mini hamburger on a skewer! It was cute and seemed perfect for women! I also ordered some fresh oysters and squeezed lemon over them before devouring them! Besides yakitori, there were plenty of side dishes to choose from, so it seemed like a place where you wouldn't get bored of the snacks! They had a sommelier, so I felt at ease with the wine selection! I indulged in four glasses of my favorite Napa Cabernet. I also tried Zinfandel and Cassis with ginger ale! The alcohol choices were great, which made me happy! Now, about the skewers, they were different from the typical ones! It had a French yakitori vibe, with a Western twist instead of the usual sauce or salt! The liver had a red wine flavor, which was interesting! For those used to the usual sauce or salt yakitori, trying this different style could be enjoyable! Perfect for a date or after work! The staff was friendly and attentive, making it a place I would want to visit again! Thank you for the delicious meal!

I made a reservation for a wine sommelier pairing course. We started with ordering a draft beer before the course began. The appetizers and each dish that followed were carefully prepared and delicious. The wine pairings were excellent, and we also enjoyed dishes like truffle rice.

I went to a yakitori and wine shop near Azabu Juban station. They offer wine pairing options as well. I tried their course menu and everything was really delicious. Even though it wasn't included in the course, I also had some amazing raw oysters from Hokkaido. They were big and melted in my mouth. The wines were all tasty too, making it a really enjoyable experience. The counter seating is designed for couples, so it's perfect for a date night. I noticed that most of the customers were couples.

There are a lot of unique dishes and drinks on the menu. I saw a wine-based gin that looked delicious on the menu, but when I tried it, it was kind of underwhelming. Many items seemed strong on the menu, but the taste didn't quite live up to expectations.

During my second visit, I ordered the same course as last time, but there were quite a few different dishes that made the experience enjoyable! The menu included yakitori, bistro, wine bar, rock oysters, appetizers, assorted dishes, French-style yakitori, chicken breast, Tasmanian mustard, okra, thigh meat, green pepper, dried tomatoes, sauce, furi-sode, truffles, mixed rice, ice cream, champagne, white wine, and red wine.

I was happy to find fresh oysters♡ The yakitori was all delicious! The atmosphere at the counter was nice, like a couple's seat. However, the drinks were a bit pricey. I would recommend it more for couples than friends. The food was delicious!

After several years, I visited this restaurant again. The staff has been completely changed, and the focus has shifted towards course meals, moving away from the izakaya-style atmosphere to a more restaurant-like setting. The grilled chicken is now called "French-style grilled chicken" and is prepared with seasonings other than just salt or sauce. This may be seen as unconventional for those who prefer to savor the flavor of the ingredients with salt or sauce... Personally, I am quite pleased that each skewer is seasoned differently for wine pairing. The seasoning and grilling of the chicken have improved significantly compared to before. The tapenade with knee cartilage and smoked tail meat have a unique flavor and are recommended. The drink menu offers a great selection of wines, as they highly recommend wine. You can even enjoy high-end wines by the glass. I never expected to be able to drink a glass of Santenay Pinot Noir at a grilled chicken restaurant. This place might be one of the few where you can enjoy this level of wine with grilled chicken. For wine lovers, the cost performance is quite good. From what I observed, the courses with wine pairings seemed very attractive. However, for those looking for a simple grilled chicken restaurant or those with little interest in wine, it may seem a bit expensive.

Today's visit was to Shaji. Shaji is a yakitori restaurant located in Azabu-Juban, Minato-ku, Tokyo. It is about a 3-minute walk from Azabu-Juban Station and offers a casual atmosphere where you can enjoy French yakitori and wine. Since I wanted to enjoy a variety of dishes a la carte, I decided to visit Shaji for the first time. The restaurant is divided into counter seating and tables, and this time I chose the counter. The chairs next to each other only have armrests on the outside, making it a suitable place for a date. Now, for this visit, I ordered the following a la carte dishes. Burrata Cheese Caprese with Green Peas - Smooth and with a strong basil flavor, this dish was incredibly delicious. I highly recommend ordering this. Harami (skirt steak) with Ginger Pickles - The harami and momo (thigh) yakitori were each finished with original sauces, adding an interesting twist to the concept of French yakitori. Truffle Takikomi Gohan (mixed rice) - With that, the ordering was complete. I was able to enjoy a casual meal. Thank you for the meal.

I recently went to a yakitori restaurant where the cost was around 10,000 yen per person, and it was the best one I've been to. The yakitori came with original sauces for each part, and I especially loved the harami (skirt meat) so much that I ordered a second one. The other dishes besides the yakitori were also well thought out, with a variety of dishes that girls would particularly enjoy! There were still many dishes I wanted to try, so I would like to visit again. Also, the truffle rice as the final dish was amazing! It was a bit too much for two people, but with the option to mix in raw egg, I could enjoy it twice.

I want to eat yakitori! That's why I found this French yakitori place! French yakitori? Hmm, that sounds interesting! So I went to check it out. They had yakitori with grain mustard on it, as well as yakitori with lemon sauce - perfect with red wine. If I had to say, the yakitori was a bit on the small side, I could have eaten double the amount. The truffle-infused rice for the finale was also amazing! We went with a group of guys, but I feel like it's a place you should go for a date, haha. Ossu ossu!

Enjoy a new sensation of yakitori restaurant that combines French and yakitori dishes a la carte style. Start with appetizers like carpaccio and strawberry burrata, followed by 6 yakitori skewers and crab miso cream croquettes. The variety of dishes is a charming aspect, and the must-order truffle rice dish at the end is perfect for finishing the meal. The wine selection is extensive and complements the food well, with knowledgeable sommeliers available to assist. The service is excellent, the yakitori is delicious, and I will definitely be coming back!

The French yakitori at this restaurant is modern and unique, featuring European-style sauces like balsamic vinegar. In addition to the delicious yakitori, they also offer creative dishes such as "Wild Vegetable and Bottarga Galette," Skamorza Cheese Pinchos, and the popular "Truffle Rice." The aroma of the truffle rice and the shamo soup are delightful. They offer a flexible wine pairing with French and California wines, providing a fun dining experience.

I just returned to America and coincidentally, a friend who lives in NY was also back in town, so we invited another friend and had dinner at Shaji in Nishi-Azabu. The main dish is yakitori, but the restaurant has a French bistro atmosphere with appetizers like cheese & ham, olives & pickles, and quail eggs topped with caviar. We ordered the yakitori course with 8 skewers and added two a la carte dishes. It was quite a large meal, but the yakitori had a unique twist to it, different from the usual yakitori.

It's not often that women can go to a yakitori restaurant, but this place is exceptional. A French yakitori restaurant that is open year-round without a break, amazing! The atmosphere is great and having a sommelier adds a nice touch. The wine was delicious and the food was top-notch. The truffle rice was delicious even without any additional toppings, and I found out they use special eggs which explains it! I definitely want to go back again. #yakitori #fancydinnerday

I visited "SHAJI" in late March. It has been selected as one of the "Yakitori Top 100" by Tabelog in 2019 and 2021. As it was my first visit, I opted for the standard course at "SHAJI" which included appetizers, 3 skewers paired with white wine, a warm dish, 3 skewers paired with red wine, a main course, and dessert. I requested a wine pairing from the sommelier, which cost 5,000 yen. Here are the highlights of my experience: - Chicken consommé soup - 5 appetizers that were amazing - 3 skewers paired with white wine: chicken breast with organic mustard and lemon sauce, chicken thigh with harissa and balsamic sauce - Crab cream croquette - 3 skewers paired with red wine: chicken tenderloin with cream sauce, chicken meatball with liver - Truffle rice, a generous portion of truffles, rich in flavor - Matcha blancmange with espresso Although the restaurant is named "French Yakitori," it doesn't have a strong French influence. They use traditional charcoal grilling but with unique seasonings like cream sauce, harissa, mustard, lemon balsamic, and red wine sauce. The presence of a sommelier who explains the wines adds to the experience. The standout dish was the "Truffle rice," which was rich and aromatic. I look forward to returning. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

We decided to go to a French yakitori and wine restaurant with Ami, who I haven't seen in six months, at the recommendation of her. The restaurant is located just a 5-minute walk from Exit 7 of Azabu-Juban Station on the Toei Oedo Line, making it very easy to find. The exterior of the restaurant, with its glass doors and a retro-modern look, looks quite charming. As it was our first time there, we opted for the popular No.1 choice, the recommended course that includes everything, ending with truffle rice. We started our reunion with a toast of champagne and were served a chicken consommé soup as a welcome dish, perfect for the winter season. The 5-item appetizer platter was lovely and visually appealing, with each bite being delicious. The appetizers were so tasty that it raised our expectations for the rest of the meal. We were served 3 charcoal-grilled skewers that paired well with white wine and 3 that paired well with red wine. The yakitori was interesting as it used red wine sauce and bechamel sauce, giving it a French twist. The recommended hot dish of the season was a version of tripe in demiglace sauce. And then came the Shaji specialty - truffle rice. Truffle rice seems to be quite popular lately, but personally, I don't think truffles need to be in rice (laughs). For dessert, I believe it was a fondant au chocolat. Ami might be a bit too particular... I couldn't help but notice the difference in service between regular customers and new customers. We felt the service towards us was a bit cold.

We visited Shaji with 4 men and enjoyed the recommended course with 5 wine pairings selected by the sommelier for 12,500 yen. The atmosphere was lively yet chic at this restaurant in Azabu-Juban. The counter near the entrance was quiet, while the two tables in the back were perfect for conversation. The skewers were delicious with a Western twist, and we especially enjoyed the truffle rice. The meal included: - 5 assorted appetizers with caviar - 3 charcoal-grilled skewers paired with white wine - Seasonal hot dish - 3 charcoal-grilled skewers paired with red wine - Shaji's famous truffle rice - Dessert. Thank you for the wonderful meal! 🍽️

Um, you know, I usually avoid places with the name Azabu. They can be intimidating, you know? The kind of place with a high barrier to entry. Full of muscular, tanned, wealthy people carrying designer bags. That's what I expected when I went to this restaurant for a business dinner. And sure enough, it's located in Minato Ward. But from the moment you walk in, it's simply stylish. And it's a fusion of French and yakitori. Each dish was delicious, even though I couldn't really understand what I was eating. Sorry for my simple taste buds, but it was really good. Perfect for a stylish business dinner or a girls' night out!

Shaji (Azabu-Juban/Tabelog 3.48) Recommended to make a reservation for Friday at 7:00 pm. I ordered the set of 6 skewers and a seasonal vegetable assortment, along with truffle rice. Each skewer comes with its own original sauce, so you can enjoy a variety of flavors. Personally, I liked the chicken breast with mustard sauce. The truffle rice was delicious with plenty of truffle and a flavorful broth. The counter seating is like a sofa, making it perfect for a date. #YelpGourmet #Azabu-JubanEats #Shaji
