Back in my student days, I remember it being around 280 yen. The impact of the Hoka Hoka Tei seaweed bento is still unforgettable. In the past, cold bento was the norm, and during the rice shortage, the warm and delicious seaweed bento stood out. Nowadays, there are various types of seaweed bento available, with the regular seaweed bento priced at 380 yen being the most popular. Among them, the "All Toppings" bento had excellent toppings. On top of hot rice, there was the classic bonito flakes and sesame seeds, covered by a large sheet of seaweed, and topped with white fish fry, chicken karaage, chicken menchi-katsu, chikuwa tempura, kinpira gobou, and pickled daikon and radish. Soy sauce and tartar sauce were provided in separate packets. The original flavor is still strong! The presence of chicken karaage in the bento makes it a great value. From Tsukiji Station, I headed towards Tsukiji Police Station and found a chain bento shop on the right side. The weather was nice, so I decided to eat in the park and checked it out. There were two customers ahead of me, and the cashier was available. Maybe because it was in between holidays. I ordered the Tanita bento with chicken and vegetables in a refreshing sweet and sour sauce, which was displayed prominently with 317 calories for 550 yen. But they said they only had pork today. I decided to go with that instead. It cost 550 yen. They said it was freshly made, so I got it for takeout. Looking at the flyer, it seems that Tanita bento has four different varieties that change daily. The one for May 1st is pork and plenty of vegetables in a sukiyaki style, with 324 calories. Tanita bento's concept is to have less than 500 calories, plenty of vegetables, less than 3 grams of salt, and a chewy texture. It has plenty of vegetables, but the amount of pork is small and the rice portion is also small. The taste is not bad.
