After coming back from the sauna, I visited this place with a friend. I always get hungry after the sauna. How about Sushita Kanzan here? It was a shop inside a department store, so I honestly underestimated it a bit, but the sushi was of decent quality. Thank you for the meal!

It started with a simmered dish, followed by 2 pieces of medium fatty tuna, 2 pieces of lean tuna, boiled shrimp, sea bream, salmon roe, ark shell, horse mackerel, conger eel, and herring roe. For dessert, I had warabi mochi. I thought the sushi was okay in terms of taste, but I wasn't a fan of the rice, which was shaped more like onigiri. The restaurant is spacious, with a counter at the back, which was nice and relaxing. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Sushi Takanoyama in Ginza. It's a 2-minute walk from Ginza station. Located on the 8th floor of Matsuya Ginza. I didn't have a plan this time. I was hungry and didn't feel like searching for a place to eat, so I went for department store lunch. To be honest, department store lunches are usually safe choices. I ordered a sushi lunch instead of a seafood bowl. Both options were delicious, but the cost performance at Matsuya Ginza is a bit questionable but reliable. We also had chawanmushi and the total came to a little over 5,000 yen for two people. If you're unsure about where to have lunch on the weekend, department store lunch is a good option.

Although the menu says seafood chirashi, I always wonder if there is a chirashi that is not seafood at a sushi restaurant. Since I can't eat salmon roe, I asked to have it replaced with mackerel. The seafood chirashi is priced at 2420 yen, which is also reasonable.

I love Poke, so I hope they make this menu a regular item.

Instead, you can find a place nearby that offers delicious sushi at a reasonable price. One such place is Kanzan on the 8th floor of Matsuya Ginza. With a relaxed atmosphere and a large number of seats (66 seats), the sushi, including Otoro, Uni, and Ikura that I had this time, was very satisfying. The smaller-sized shari was perfect for my taste. After a day of walking, I fully recovered with a cold beer and tasty sushi before heading home. Thank you for the meal.

Due to the year-end and New Year holidays, they were out of sea urchin so we opted for the Sazanami set instead. My wife also ordered a scallop sushi, chawanmushi, and a simmered fish dish in addition to another set. For the kids, we ordered rolls with natto, shrimp, and conger eel sushi. The taste was good and the service was fine. The restaurant is located in Matsuya Ginza, so most of the customers were elderly. It could be due to the New Year holidays as well.

The boiled shrimp and pickled mackerel were the best. When I asked for more pickled mackerel, the head chef suggested, "How about wrapping it in seaweed?" He rolled it with pickled mackerel, ginger, and sesame seeds, and it was incredibly delicious.

On a holiday filled with shopping (with a friend), we wanted to have a light sushi lunch but the popular restaurants we wanted to go to were either ending their lunch service or required reservations. So, we decided to go to the Matsuya restaurant area. The whole floor felt quiet and deserted, which made us hesitate a bit, but we were hungry and wanted to sit down, so we decided on this place. We chose the Chef's Recommended Course "Nihonbashi" for 5500 yen, which included a 3-point appetizer, chawanmushi, and a bowl. The simmered conger eel and yuba sashimi were delicious, while the sushi was decent, with a nice small size. It was a relaxing sushi lunch after a long time.

I went to enjoy a luxurious course meal for 12,100 yen, which required a reservation in advance. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, Matsuya Ginza's restaurant area closes at 8:00 pm, so I went there earlier. It was a counter seat, but there were a few other customers, which made me feel a little more at ease. The meal included simmered conger eel, sashimi of sea bream, horse mackerel, sayori, medium fatty tuna, tempura of white fish, grilled black cod with saikyo miso, and chawanmushi. Then, it moved on to nigiri sushi. I didn't take pictures of everything, but there were sea urchin, salmon roe, otoro (probably), conger eel, all of which were delicious. Lastly, miso soup and dessert were served. I paired the sushi with a glass of white wine (Chardonnay), which was easy to drink and tasty for its price of 600 yen. I was able to relax, enjoy quiet conversations, and the service from the staff was excellent.

I came to "Kanzan" at Ginza Matsuya while shopping during the New Year's sales. I wanted something refreshing to eat, so I was glad to find a sushi restaurant here. The nigiri sushi set with 8 pieces and tamago (egg) is only 2,200 yen, which is very reasonable. The seafood chirashi bowl is also 2,200 yen, and equally affordable. Today, there were about 10 Asian foreigners and 6 Western foreigners inside the restaurant. It seems like a place where foreigners can feel comfortable dining.

I visited during lunchtime. I think the last time I visited this chain was at the Hotel Okura in Osaka. I stopped by while shopping at Ginza Matsuya. As expected, it's a department store in Ginza with lots of luxury shops. I ordered sushi. The rice balls are small, but the fish pieces are a good size. The taste is... there are some good quality fish, so it's delicious! However, I can't appreciate the slightly warm rice balls. It feels like it affects the taste of the fish.
