I found a soba restaurant nearby. The counter can seat 3-4 people. The menu is a bit limited, I wish they had more options. I prefer the noodles to be a bit firmer. The duck seemed to be locally sourced with good texture and flavor. The soup was neither good nor bad. I might consider coming back, but not sure yet.

The sign of Shima's restaurant is still up, but it has been turned into a soba restaurant called Hirai. I had only seen it open a few times before, so I thought it had closed down. However, I found out recently that they were open for breakfast on June 25th. I checked Google for their operating hours and called them, only to find out that they were closed the day before. I asked the owner when they are open, and he said Monday to Friday. But when I passed by the next day, they were closed again. Finally, the day after that, I was able to dine at Hirai. It's a small restaurant with just a few seats. I ordered the mori soba for 390 yen. The soba noodles were flat and quite al dente. The portion was decent. The soba dipping sauce was not too strong in soy sauce flavor, nor was it deep. It had a slightly strange acidity to it. They also served soba broth and offered a raw egg as a topping, but I didn't use it. I wondered if the kake soba would have been better.
