This new shop opened in October in Yushima, which I personally thought was a desert for Western sweets. There used to be a shop called Le Rosier Lyon near Hirokoji, but the owner chef passed away suddenly and the shop closed. There was also a branch inside Ueno Station. Since then, there haven't been any noticeable Western confectionery shops in the area. The chef here has a background working at hotels like Shin-Yokohama Grace, Hilton, and The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo. The signature item is the Mont Blanc marshmallow, but I'm not particularly drawn to marshmallows, so I passed on that. For my first visit, I focused on popular items in the fresh confectionery category. - Chou Cream 330 yen: A popular item. The choux pastry is very crispy, reminiscent of pie in flavor and texture. The custard is generously filled and not overly sweet, with the sweetness coming from the surface of the choux pastry. Very satisfying, and it's easy to see why it's popular. - Daruma 630 yen: Plum wine mousse + apricot jelly + plum wine and raspberry jelly + apricot pulp, topped with white chocolate. A Daruma near Yushima Tenjin Shrine. It's cute and brings good luck, I suppose. The appearance is very charming. The plum wine mousse is mild, with a slightly sweet and sour jelly. The combination is not bad, but the impact of the glaze jelly is weak. The top white chocolate is strong, which makes the bottom less noticeable. The bottom part is hard, so it's a bit difficult to eat with the hard layers on top and bottom. - Rafine 640 yen: Award-winning item. Valrhona bronze chocolate mousse + coffee cream + chocolate ganache + hazelnut galette crust? Both the taste and appearance are straightforward and very delicious. The bronze chocolate has a light texture, more like milk chocolate than typical chocolate mousse. There is no typical acidity of rich chocolate, and a subtle salty taste. The strong coffee cream goes well with the crispy hazelnut base. It's well-balanced and easy to understand, with a strong flavor. Not too sweet, but the taste is solid. I usually avoid rich and dense chocolate desserts, but this one is delicious. - Premiere 640 yen: Another award-winning item. Rich chocolate mousse + caramelized banana + banana cream. My family ate this, so I'm not sure. Just as described, it's a banana chocolate dessert. The bright interior offers a variety of tarts, Mont Blancs, and verrines. Considering the size of the shop, the variety is decent. The prices are not particularly high, just average. The only downside is the location, with steep slopes if you walk from Seibashi area. It's probably easier to go from Yushima. There's a German bakery nearby that I've been considering visiting, so I'll check that out next time. I might stop by during the Rakugo Association festival next summer. I hope they have a summer-themed selection by then.
