This is a soba restaurant near Hatagaya Station South Exit. The building is made of reinforced concrete, but it has a unique atmosphere with a large signboard with a family crest, a bonsai of manryou, and old maps on the walls. Inside the restaurant, there are 4 tables for 4 people, 4 tables for 2 people, a large table with a hearth in the center, and 2 tables for 4 people in the raised tatami area. The menu offers soba with soup or without soup for 600 yen, which is considered affordable in the area. The restaurant also serves rice dishes, but there are no set menus, following the typical style of a soba restaurant in a residential area. I tried the "Okame Soba" for 850 yen, which includes 3 pieces of kamaboko, 2 pieces of naruto, shiitake mushrooms, spinach, and wheat gluten. The presentation is symmetrical, almost resembling a face. The soba noodles are machine-made and have a standard thickness. Despite the low buckwheat flour content, the quality of the soba is considered high compared to other standing soba shops. The portion is generous, served in a deep bowl, making it a good value for money. The broth is well-balanced, albeit slightly mild in flavor, which complements the soba well. The thinly sliced green onions and thickly cut yuzu peel add to the overall balance of flavors. The restaurant has a traditional feel and pays attention to detail in its dishes. The ingredients are substantial, with the kamaboko being a standout element. The shiitake mushrooms are well-cooked and sweet, while the spinach is of good quality. The wheat gluten, when eaten last, absorbs the broth and tastes delicious. The restaurant provides small packets of shichimi pepper on the table for seasoning. The service is friendly, with the hostess handling orders efficiently. Overall, the restaurant offers a satisfying meal with good value for money, making it a reliable choice for everyday dining.
