I went to this restaurant based on a recommendation from an acquaintance. They only offer an omakase course until you say stop. I went there on an empty stomach and ended up eating a lot! The skewers start with chicken thigh and they are so big that there's barely any space to hold them, haha. They were incredibly delicious. I was especially impressed by the white liver. Unfortunately, I didn't get to try the lanterns, soup, or the closing rice, so I want to come back next month to try them. The owner was also very friendly and we had a great time chatting. I love this place so much! I will definitely visit again. ☺️

I was rejected by several places, but finally found myself at Tori Shin. It was a good choice. The appetizer was raw chicken breast sashimi, mixed with egg and sauce, and it was delicious! Really delicious. I ordered the omakase course, wondering if my favorite liver would be included. First dish was chicken thigh, juicy and generous in portion. Since I was hungry, I dug in right away. The meat juice was dripping and full of flavor. Next was a vegetable set, with incredibly sweet white corn. Despite getting pricked by the eggplant thorns, it was juicy and tasty. Then came the seseri, dripping with fat and incredibly juicy. Followed by quail (no photo taken), cooked half-done and a bit overwhelming with 6 pieces on one skewer. Next was tsukune, which I'm not a big fan of, but surprisingly tasty. Then came the chicken tenderloin (no photo taken), cooked rare with wasabi. It was a bit worrying how rare it was, but delicious. However, the large portion made it hard to finish. Lastly, white liver. Yes, my favorite liver finally arrived, cooked rare. A bit worrying how rare it was, but delicious. I had two cups of oolong tea. The total bill of 14,000 yen left a slightly expensive impression.

A group of friends visited a restaurant recommended for its delicious food and drinks for a girls' night out. Located beyond the drinking district of Gotanda, the restaurant had a simple and cozy atmosphere with traditional red lanterns. They ordered the "chef's choice course" which started with beer and chicken namero, a salted dish that pairs well with sake. The chicken thigh skewers that followed were juicy and flavorful, but the portion was so large that it became overwhelming. The harami skewers were forgettable, and the pork with shiso leaf and stuffed bell peppers were tasty but felt more like side dishes than yakitori. The quail eggs were rare and reminiscent of a famous restaurant in Oshiage. The cheese-wrapped pork skewers were heavy and not what they were hoping for. They wanted to try the liver and heart skewers, but were told they were sold out, which seemed suspicious. The chicken soup was also rich and collagen-filled. Despite the enjoyable atmosphere and friendly service, the bill for 3 people came out to around 32,000 yen, which felt overpriced for the experience. They left feeling like they had been taken advantage of and decided not to return, opting for a more reliable and reasonably priced yakitori place in Shinbashi instead.

I visited the restaurant right at 5 o'clock when it opened. I was intrigued by the fact that they use Koshu Jidori chicken. I've tried many types of local chicken, but Koshu Jidori is definitely one of the best in terms of taste. The appetizer was a raw tsukune. If no one had told me, I would have thought it was negitoro. The yakitori dishes kept coming until I told them to stop. It was a bit scary not knowing the prices. I enjoyed the unique chewiness of the local chicken and savored the rich flavor. It was a luxurious time of drinking alone. I stayed for about 2 hours, enjoying sake and getting a bit tipsy. However, when the bill exceeded 10,000 yen, I sobered up instantly. It was delicious, but I wish the cost performance was a bit better. Anyway, Koshu Jidori is delicious! Thank you for the meal.

I was taken to Torishin by a regular customer. We left it to the friendly and efficient chef to choose our dishes. Everything from the appetizers to the final soup was delicious. The skewers of grilled chicken were all large and satisfying. This restaurant is perfect for those who enjoy hearty meals.

Location Just past the love hotel district in Nishi-Gotanda. The atmosphere is like a traditional yakitori restaurant with only a counter for customer service. I had the chef's choice and the portions were huge! Very filling! It might be a bit too much for women. It had been a while since I had delicious yakitori. Everything I tried was tasty, so I recommend leaving it up to the chef. Overall, it was a cozy place filled with regular customers at the counter, giving off a nostalgic Showa era vibe.

Around 5:30 pm when I entered, there were already 2-3 groups of regular customers. As a newcomer, I was told that "the first few skewers are part of a set menu" and I took a seat at the counter. Without much wait, a large thigh skewer arrived. They cook the skewers according to the speed of the customers, so you can enjoy freshly grilled skewers. The chef pays attention to the ingredients and charcoal, and he personally prepares the chicken, so you can't go wrong with the taste. After enjoying 4-5 skewers including tsukune, I was asked if I wanted something else to be grilled, so I had 2-3 skewers of liver, etc. When I talked to the chef, he explained that they focus too much on the ingredients, so they can't accommodate orders for rare cuts, which is why the first 4-5 skewers are left to the restaurant's discretion. However, he still asks if there's anything you don't like, so you won't be served something you can't eat. Each skewer is large, making it difficult to reach the end, but the chicken soup at the end was also delicious. I ended up eating too much and the bill was accordingly high, but I definitely want to go back.

The appetizer of raw tsukune is delicious! The first dish, the thigh meat, is huge! Delicious! Even though it's yakitori, it's juicy. I'm not a fan, but everyone I brought loved the quail eggs. Thank you for the meal!

When looking for delicious yakitori in Gotanda, I was introduced to Deguchi. It is located about a 7-8 minute walk from Gotanda Station and has a cozy atmosphere with mainly counter seating. There is no menu, as the master recommends dishes based on your preferences. The focus seems to be on Oyama chicken, and the restaurant prides itself on its unique offerings. On February 2, 2018 (Friday), I visited the charcoal-grilled chicken restaurant "Torishin" with my boss and senpai. The restaurant was emitting a wonderful aroma even before entering. There was no menu, and the owner kept serving skewers until we said stop. We started with a toast with beer. We were asked if we wanted sashimi, so we requested it. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. The skewers started coming one by one. - Thigh: This was amazing! The texture and oil were top-notch, and the grilling was irresistible. - Tsukune: Fluffy and good, but nothing exceptional. Tasted good nonetheless. - Chicken wings: Another skewer with great texture. Delicious, but a bit difficult to eat. - Foie gras: It was served with the owner saying "Here is the foie gras." In my mind, I was thinking "Isn't it white liver?" but it turned out to be foie gras! It was incredibly delicious! I didn't know you could grill foie gras on a skewer! - Green onion: Absolutely amazing! A fierce battle of flavors between chicken and green onion. Super tasty. - Cartilage: Juicy and flavorful. We decided to stop here. - Heart: We ended with the heart. It was my first time having such a tender yet firm heart. It was oily and delicious. Finally, we had a soup as a finisher and smoked chicken breast as a souvenir. In the end, I had about 4 drinks. The bill came to ¥27,000 in total (¥9,000 per person). Torishin's reviews on Tabelog vary greatly, and I can understand why. The taste was excellent, the grilling skills were top-notch, and the seasoning was perfect. However, it is quite expensive. People's opinions on the owner may differ as well (I personally didn't mind). If you want to eat delicious food without worrying about money, this place is highly recommended for special occasions. But it's definitely not a place for everyday dining. If you choose the wrong occasion to visit, you might regret it, so plan your visit wisely (laughs). Among all the grilled chicken I've had in my life, Torishin definitely ranks in the top 5! Thank you for the wonderful meal! I hope to visit again someday.
