Visited the restaurant on the night before a national holiday. Recognized the name of the restaurant as the upstairs had been there a few times before. When I walked in, there were two regulars at the counter and about 10 people at the tables, mostly in groups. I sat at the counter, checked the menu from the QR code, and waited for my food while enjoying a Akahoshi beer. I ordered a dish of grilled konjac with green onions cooked on an iron plate and topped with plenty of onions. The konjac had a soy sauce-based flavor soaked in, which paired perfectly with the green onions. This dish goes really well with beer. I also tried the homemade falafel, which is made from spiced chickpea paste and grilled. It tasted like a spiced hamburger made from beans, and it was delicious. A must-try for curry lovers. When my beer ran out, I switched to sake and ordered a cold Kaminari. I also tried the Jamaican jerk chicken with a Mosco flavor, which had an extra kick of spices. The tangy spiciness of the Mosco and the spices went well together. I paired the sake with a warm Otokoyama. The vegetable-filled gyoza with a strong smell was next on the menu. Although the menu warns of a strong smell, it wasn't overpowering. The gyoza was mainly filled with vegetables. However, the aroma was still strong, so I paired it with a warm Kurena. Strong flavors go well with strong drinks. I ended the meal with okonomiyaki, which was of a high standard. Cutting it with a spatula while eating was enjoyable. The total bill came to around 7000 yen, but it was well worth it. I was highly satisfied with the restaurant and am already considering a return visit soon to try other dishes from the iron plate menu.

"Located in Gotanda, the okonomiyaki restaurant 'Hojahi ~ Authentic Okonomiyaki and Hiroshima Sake ~' is situated on the 8th floor of a mixed-use building. The restaurant is always fully booked and has a counter with a teppanyaki grill in front, as well as table seating. There is no physical menu, instead, customers scan a QR code to view the menu and place their order verbally. As someone who rarely visits okonomiyaki restaurants, I may have unknowingly acted impolitely by ordering okonomiyaki right away, as I was told, 'The okonomiyaki is the last dish. The water is not boiling yet.' It seemed like they were suggesting I should order some appetizers first. I ended up ordering two or three small dishes. The chef skillfully cooked the dishes on the teppanyaki grill right in front of me, creating a lively atmosphere. The thick pork belly was surprisingly light and easy to eat, while the basil sausage had a consistently good flavor. Finally, the okonomiyaki arrived. The batter seemed quite thin, typical of Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. It resembled a crepe, and I worried it might burn, but the chef expertly cooked it to perfection. The Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki didn't have a strong taste of the batter itself. It was piled high with green onions, cabbage, bean sprouts, egg, pork, and noodles, then steamed and grilled. The texture was crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. Despite being a flour-based dish, it didn't feel heavy and had a light and healthy vibe. The sauce was sweet and savory with a fruity touch, leaving a refreshing aftertaste. There are various types of okonomiyaki, so I might consider studying more about them in the future. Thank you for the meal."

I learned about this restaurant through an event and decided to visit while also applying for the event. It was full of Hiroshima vibes, including TV broadcasts. The firefly squid ajillo and oil sardines seem like they would go well with any drink. I visited for day drinking this time, but I would like to go again with friends. Reservations are a must.

The noodles are definitely on the firmer side, with a crispy texture. The sauce is from Otafuku, and even though I prefer softer noodles, the taste is so good that I keep coming back. I've been here three times before - twice with regulars and once alone without any sake. This is my fourth visit. When I tried to order sake, there was no list. When I tried to look at the shelf, I was told not to touch it. I ended up feeling disappointed and just drank beer the whole time. The owner has always been a bit unfriendly (for better or worse), but aside from the sake incident, I feel like the owner was even more harsh this time compared to my previous visits. I think you either have to be someone who can engage with the gruff owner or be a regular to truly enjoy sake here.

This is not a okonomiyaki restaurant, but a Hiroshima sake bar where you can have okonomiyaki as a finishing dish. The main dishes are cooked on an iron plate. They have a wide variety of Japanese sake that you can't stop drinking. The gyoza had a strong garlic flavor and was delicious. The okonomiyaki was also delicious, with crispy noodles. Thank you for the meal!

The other day, I visited the restaurant without a reservation and was told that reservations were required, so I made a reservation for another day and came back. I arrived at 6 pm and was the first customer. The restaurant had a spacious layout with table seating and a counter with 8 seats. I was seated at the edge, most likely for regular customers who sit in front of the teppan. They took my jacket and I sat down. I had to order by scanning a QR code on my phone, which was a bit difficult to read. I ended up looking at the menu on Tabelog to make my order. While looking at the menu, more customers arrived. It was all locals speaking in the Hiroshima dialect. The counter was now full. Finally, I decided on my order: draft beer, potato salad with pickles, creamy grilled taro and cheese, and sand liver confit. The service was a bit slow due to being short-staffed. The potato salad didn't use eggs or mayonnaise but had a strong acidic taste from the cucumbers and carrots pickled in it. It would pair well with wine or a robust sake. Next came the creamy grilled taro and cheese, which had a surprising appearance and a slightly intense flavor. I paired it with a Junmai Daiginjo sake, which had a light and smooth taste. The sand liver confit was steamed with wine and a hint of minced garlic. It was a bit light in flavor, and I felt it needed more garlic and salt. I then ordered Jamaican jerk chicken and meatball soba with green onions and tempura topping. The jerk chicken was crispy and flavorful, perfect with a lemon sour cocktail. The meatball soba was prepared with boiled buckwheat noodles, topped with cabbage and eggs. The sauce was light, and the noodles were crispy, with a generous amount of green onions. It was served with beer, and the combination was delightful. The restaurant's interior featured aprons from local sake breweries hanging on the walls and ceiling. The TV was tuned to Hiroshima Broadcasting. The meal cost around 8800 yen for two people, slightly on the expensive side for the portion size. The restaurant focuses on sake, but the menu leans towards Western flavors, making it a bit challenging to pair with sake. The variety of sake seemed extensive, so I plan to return for sake and okonomiyaki next time. The service was not overly friendly, but they had a good service attitude. Overall, the restaurant scored 80 points out of 100 in my evaluation.

Today I visited here to eat Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki in Gotanda. This restaurant specializes in Hiroshima sake, so they also have some sake that you don't often see in Tokyo. The salad with Kannon Negi, a Hiroshima specialty green onion, was easy to eat without any spiciness. The chicken gizzards were also well prepared. The sake I tried included Hanatobi and Ugo no Tsuki, which are limited to sake breweries in Hiroshima. For dessert, I had the okonomiyaki, which was delicious with slowly cooked cabbage that was sweet and tender. It may take some time, but it's worth it to visit a specialty store like this. I might even prefer it over Kansai-style okonomiyaki. It was also nice that they didn't try to cover it up with too much mayonnaise or other toppings.

I went on a solo mission to Hojahai, located on the 8th floor of a mixed-use building in Gotanda, introduced to me by a friend during a Sunday afternoon drink. Hojahai is known for its Catching Evil Flying dish, and the chairs are said to be relocated from Hiroshima Municipal Stadium. It reminded me of when I went to see a Yokohama-Hiroshima game in the last year of Hiroshima Municipal Stadium and bought a souvenir of a legendary Kiyoshi Nagashima uniform. I enjoyed some red star while snacking on a platter of pickled vegetables. I also ordered stir-fried leeks and konjac, which were cooked right in front of me on a hot plate by the chef. I switched to Hiroshima's local sake. The okonomiyaki had a lot of vegetables, almost like Jiro-style, and tasted lighter than it looked. Overall, I thought the meal was healthy with plenty of vegetables. I will definitely come back.

I arrived at the location on Google Maps, but had trouble finding the restaurant, so I walked back and forth in the same area. Finally, I looked up and found it! The food was delicious! We ordered various types of okonomiyaki and appetizers, and everything was tasty. They have a wide selection of sake, and even though I don't know much about it, I trusted the recommendations of the staff and enjoyed everything they chose for me. Great experience even for beginners!

I went to this restaurant because the first one had a long line. I made a reservation over the phone before heading there. I couldn't find the location of the restaurant, so I called a nearby place to ask for directions. I sat at the counter and ordered two okonomiyaki, konjac, and vegetables. There were many types of Hiroshima sake and other alcoholic drinks available. The okonomiyaki was made by stacking cabbage high and steaming it. It took quite some time to be ready. It was hot at the counter, and it was getting late for those who needed to catch the last train, so I left before finishing my meal.

Located near the east exit of Gotanda Station, this okonomiyaki restaurant is on the 8th floor of a mixed-use building. It's not easy to spot, and there are no signs on the first floor to guide you (I might have missed it...). Despite this, I had heard that they open early on Sundays, so I decided to check it out. Without word of mouth, you would never know this place exists. When you get off the elevator, you'll find the entrance to the restaurant, but even that is not very noticeable. Upon opening the door, I was greeted by a large teppan (iron griddle) and a full house of customers. Luckily, I managed to secure a table, which turned out to be a teppan table as well. This was a pleasant surprise for someone from Hiroshima, as I had been disappointed during a recent business trip when I couldn't get a teppan seat at a famous restaurant. I ordered two draft beers and two servings of butatama soba, and was informed by the waiter that "okonomiyaki is served last here, so it may take some time." So, I ordered the pork belly and green onion salt grill for 720 yen, and enjoyed it while waiting. The green onions were plentiful and delicious. Finally, the butatama soba arrived, as shown in the first photo. It was generously topped with sauce and the cabbage was cooked to perfection. A delicious okonomiyaki indeed. With a price of 780 yen, it's quite reasonable for Tokyo. The draft beer was also 520 yen, and the other dishes were generally affordable. I would like to revisit this place when sober and try the food again. They open at 5:30pm on weekdays, so I'll make a reservation and come back. Thank you for the meal!! However, who would have thought there would be an okonomiyaki restaurant in such a place? It's like a hidden gem (laughs). It might even be an okonomiyaki bar... I visited the restaurant on Sunday. Although it said it closes at 20:00, it was actually open until around 21:00. We ordered a variety of pickled vegetables, pork belly, and Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki. The okonomiyaki was just right for two people to share as a finishing dish. One serving per person would have been too much. They have a wide selection of Hiroshima-produced sake. Additionally, the TV at the counter plays recorded shows from Hiroshima, so I think people from Hiroshima would enjoy it.

Located in Gotanda, this restaurant offers Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki in a cozy setting with Hiroshima colors. The interior has tables and counter seats, with chairs made from benches at Hiroshima Municipal Stadium. It brings back nostalgic memories of playing at the stadium as a child. The main dish is okonomiyaki, but other menu items are also delicious. Especially the dish made with Hiroshima's Kannon green onions is outstanding. The small dried fish tempura also has a great flavor and goes well with drinks. The okonomiyaki has a perfect balance of noodles and ingredients, and the sauce from the restaurant complements it well. It's so delicious that you might find yourself exclaiming in Hiroshima dialect, "This okonomiyaki is so good!" Visit Hohajin and try it out.

It was incredibly delicious. It might be the best Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki I've had in Tokyo. It was even better than Carp. The balance between the crispy noodles and the finely chopped cabbage was amazing!

My wife, son, and I went out for dinner on a rare Sunday night. We went to Hojahisan, a restaurant my wife found. We ordered okonomiyaki, pork belly, potato salad, scallop ajillo, sautéed yam, and bitter melon champuru. Everything was delicious. The restaurant seems to be popular among Hiroshima Carp fans, as they use chairs from Hiroshima Municipal Stadium. Thank you for the meal!
