A few years ago, I visited this restaurant a few times and decided to drive there again after a long time. Although there is a shuttle service from Minamiosawa Station, I found out the day before that it was fully booked and difficult to arrange. So, if you need the shuttle service, make sure to reserve well in advance! When I arrived at the restaurant, it was crowded due to the year-end season, and there was a time limit set for each room. All the rooms are private (not soundproof, but separated as a space), making it a great choice for family gatherings with relatives! Compared to my visit about 4 years ago, I noticed some changes. The foot bath was no longer available, and when I tried to buy dressing as a souvenir, I was told they didn't have it anymore (they were selling kimchi and other items). However, the stamp card system had not changed at all, and it seemed like the air conditioning had been improved. Previously, the rooms were very hot, so even though I went in wearing short sleeves, it was indeed quite hot at first, but it became comfortable later on, maybe due to the ventilation fan! The quality of the food had not changed and remained consistently delicious.
What I had: Hinadori-yaki (grilled young chicken) course for ¥3820, which included miso-dengaku, mini salad, Fuku-Fuku tofu hot pot, Irori-yaki (grilled young chicken skewers, tsukune skewers, grilled vegetables), and a choice of rice or noodles (I chose the hot pot udon). I also added extra skewers (yamame, ayu, scallop, and tsubugai). The portion size was just right! Personally, I loved the Fuku-Fuku tofu hot pot, grilled young chicken skewers, tsukune, and the hot pot udon the most! The tofu hot pot had a rich soy milk base with a hint of sweetness from the tofu. The grilled young chicken skewers were delicious whether with salt or sauce, and the tsukune was already seasoned and tasty. The hot pot udon, with chicken and mushrooms, was my favorite dish here, and I have yet to find a better one elsewhere! The other three meal options were relatively simple, but the hot pot udon had a variety of ingredients like chicken and mushrooms, and the thick, soft udon noodles were exceptionally delicious. Apart from the slight delay in receiving complimentary items like cold water and chopsticks that were ordered through the touch panel (probably due to the busy year-end period), the experience of cooking and enjoying the meal together with others was wonderful! The way the dishes were brought to the table flowing in a stream added to the charm, which first-time visitors would likely find appealing. Overall, it's a restaurant with a nostalgic atmosphere, and I highly recommend using it during the year-end and New Year period. Thank you for the meal! ★
