The shop featured in the Keio Electric Railway commercial "Running Towns of Keio" is located in Fujimi-cho, a 2-3 minute walk from Keio Line Tsutsujigaoka Station. The streetscape, exterior, and interior of the shop evoke the Showa era. The various traditional Japanese sweets, filled with the thoughts of the shop owner who has been protecting the shop for many decades, exude a sense of history. This time, I bought the signature menu item, "mitarashi dango," as a snack for company staff. Priced at 80 yen per stick, it has remained unchanged in taste over the past 20 years. The casual conversation with the shop owner, like "It's hot today, isn't it?" adds a comforting feeling of reassurance.

Sasaki Wagashi in Chofu City, Tokyo (Tsutsujigaoka) catches your eye with a sign advertising Mitarashi dango for 80 yen. Located on the street to the left after exiting Keio Line Tsutsujigaoka Station and turning left onto Nishi Tsutsujigaoka Fujimi Street, where you'll find a cluster of bars. Across the street is the Western cuisine restaurant Kushinohana. The shop exudes the atmosphere of a Showa-era traditional Japanese confectionery store, evoking a sense of nostalgia with its slightly faded yellow tent. Although the 2018 review mentioned Mitarashi dango being 60 yen, it is now priced at 80 yen. Still, it's incredibly affordable. The shop, with no doors and completely open, has a showcase displaying around 10 types of Japanese sweets, all looking delicious. Today, I purchased the Botamochi and Doamyouji that caught my eye. Botamochi was a large, delicious treat equivalent to two ohagi, and the Doamyouji had a good aroma and sweetness. This shop offers tasty Japanese sweets at great prices, and customers were coming in one after another. Highly recommended.★★★★★No parking available. A traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Tsutsujigaoka. It's a 3.4-minute walk from the station. Tucked away in an alley, this charming shop exudes a nostalgic atmosphere. Children are playing in front of the shop, and inside, everything feels like stepping back in time to the Showa era. I instantly fell in love with this place. The mitarashi dango is only 70 yen each. They also offer delicious anmitsu, botamochi, and domyoji. The interior of the shop remains unchanged from the past. Everything I tried was delicious! The mitarashi dango was chewy and the sweet bean paste was perfect. The rose and swallow-shaped anmitsu was also a delightful taste. I became a fan in an instant. The staff at the shop were very friendly, and even the children playing outside thanked me. I would even want to be friends with those children. I hope this shop continues to thrive. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Tsutsujigaoka~ There are some interesting shops to explore~ After having lunch, I walked a bit and found a charming traditional Japanese sweets shop in a side street!! Inside, they had botamochi and ohagi... Huh?? Botamochi is named after the peony flower, with the azuki beans resembling the flower, originally called "botanmochi" before becoming "botamochi"~ Ohagi is named after the similarity between azuki beans and the bush clover flower~ Of course, in the current season, they would be called ohagi... I asked the proprietress, who was at the storefront!! She said, "We have both, but botamochi is bigger, equivalent to 2 ohagi~" So they changed the name based on size... "If you buy one botamochi, it's 50 yen cheaper than buying 2 ohagi~" she said... Huh?? Botamochi (210 yen) and ohagi (with chunky or smooth sweet bean paste, each 130 yen) means buying one botamochi is 50 yen cheaper... I see!! So, I bought one ohagi with chunky paste and one with smooth paste to enjoy at home with tea~ My impression is... Whether you like them or not, please try them out!! The not-too-sweet taste of the sweet bean paste, the moist texture, and the chewy rice cake all come together to create a delicious and refreshing treat!! Nowadays, it's easy to opt for Western sweets, but buying traditional Japanese sweets from a long-standing shop and savoring the seasonal flavors is also a great experience, don't you think?? Thank you for the meal ===========

The shop featured in Keio Electric Railway's commercial "Running Town with Keio" is located in Tomimichi, a shopping street just a 2-3 minute walk from Keio Line Tsutsujigaoka Station. The streetscape, exterior, and interior of the shop evoke the Showa era. The various traditional Japanese sweets, filled with the thoughts of the shop owner who has been protecting the shop for many decades, exude a sense of history. This time, I bought the signature menu item, "mitarashi dango," for the company staff's snack. Priced at only 60 yen per skewer, the taste has remained unchanged over the past 20 years. The casual conversation with the shop owner, like "It's hot again today, isn't it?" adds a comforting sense of familiarity.

This popular restaurant always has customers whenever you go. Everything you eat is delicious, but their botamochi is exceptionally tasty. It's recommended to go early because they may already be sold out and closed in the evening.

Tokyo, Chofu City, Nishi Tsutsujigaoka. A beloved local Japanese sweets shop for everyday use. The nearest station is Keio Line Tsutsujigaoka Station. On a Sunday, I had lunch at the new branch and passed by the long line at Shibazaki-tei, heading to Tomimachi Shopping Street. Here at "Wagashi Sasaki," a family-run business, I have been here many times but this is my first time posting about it. There are still many shops in this shopping street that I haven't posted about yet, so I need to continue supporting the local businesses. The staff always greet you with a smile and provide polite service. Today's order: Mitarashi dango x2 for 60 yen each, An dango x2 for 80 yen each, Persimmon for 160 yen, and Chrysanthemum for 160 yen. Their specialty is the Mitarashi dango, one skewer for only 60 yen! It has just the right amount of sweetness and a hint of salt, with a chewy texture. Delicious! Since it's the equinox, there were many offerings of ohagi. I also bought some beautiful fresh sweets. This place is popular among locals, so for those who come from far away to Shibazaki-tei, how about getting some Tsutsujigaoka souvenirs from Wagashi Sasaki? Operating hours are from 9:30 am to 7:00 pm, closed irregularly. Visit their website for more information. #Wagashi #Souvenirs #TomimachiShoppingStreet #Takeout #Dango #FreshSweets #TeaSnacks #LocalRecommendation #RecommendedShop #The name of the shop is "Wagashi Sasaki."

Location/Environment: If you come out of Tsutsujigaoka Station's north exit and walk to the left for a while, you will find a Lawson 100 store in the area. It is a place that only locals tend to visit, hidden further back, so it can be easily overlooked. Atmosphere/Customer Service: The store is clearly a traditional Japanese confectionery shop from the outside. When I visited, there was a regular customer present, and I saw the staff playing with a child. Upon entering, they greeted me with a "hello" and when leaving, they said "take care", creating a very pleasant atmosphere. Food: I heard that the Mitarashi dango (skewered rice dumplings with sweet soy sauce) is recommended, so I bought some. The dumplings were incredibly chewy. While the roasted aroma was a bit weak, the sauce was just the right balance of sweetness and spiciness, making it delicious. The sweet bean paste in the manju (steamed bun) was also not overly sweet. Price/Menu: The Mitarashi dango is only 60 yen per skewer! And they are quite large. The Fubuki manju is also priced at 70 yen each, which is unbelievably cheap in this day and age. Overall: First of all, I was surprised by the low prices (laughs). Although I heard they have irregular closing days, I have noticed that they have been open continuously recently. The taste is good, the prices are very cheap, so I think it's okay to have a Mitarashi dango every day.

On March 24, 2015, I went to a dumpling shop in Tsutsujigaoka. It's located near the 100 yen Lawson. I bought mitarashi and anko dumplings ( ̄▽ ̄) Actually, my wife bought them for me. It seems like they are cheap, only 60 yen each. I thought they were quite tasty and safe. It's the taste of a local dumpling shop. If they are cheap, then it's totally worth it. 60 yen is really cheap ( ̄▽ ̄) I would like to go there myself next time and try them out! Hopefully they are open as they seem to have irregular hours. Thanks for the meal!
