When you think of Fussa, you think of the Yokota Air Base, but across Route 16 in front of the base, there are many shops and restaurants favored by US military personnel. Among the steak and burger joints, I discovered that the real gem in this area is Thai cuisine, as I experienced at Kaomangai 16 and this restaurant located on the south side. I have tried Thai food in various places in and around Tokyo, but I never expected to find two top-notch restaurants in Fussa. I visited during dinner time on a weekday, just before 7 pm. This restaurant is relatively unknown, with little information available online, so I took a chance on whether it was open. It appears to be closed on Tuesdays. There is no dedicated parking, so I parked at a coin parking lot behind the restaurant. Inside, there was only one other group of customers. A local gentleman, who I assume is the chef, greeted and served us. The decor has a American diner feel with a touch of Thai oriental charm, which I really liked. We ordered a la carte, with each dish priced in the 700 yen range, making it more affordable compared to Thai restaurants in the city. We ordered the pork fried rice, medium-sized Tom Yum Kung, and stir-fried water spinach. It was a shame we couldn't drink as we drove. When the dishes arrived, I was truly impressed by the high quality of each dish, especially the pork fried rice which was incredibly delicious. The balance of flavors, especially when squeezed with lime, was outstanding. The Tom Yum Kung and water spinach were also well-balanced and incredibly tasty. It takes a chef with great skill to create dishes like these. It's unlikely to find Thai cuisine of this level even in the city center. They also accept payment through PayPay, which is convenient. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and I highly recommend trying Thai food when visiting the Yokota Air Base.
