Tsubakiya's pasta uses a type of durum wheat, which gives it a unique chewy texture compared to regular wheat flour pasta. The combination of shrimp and avocado is perfect. The refreshing flavor of basil made it even more delicious.

It may seem a little far from the station on Google Maps, but if you leave Ueno Station at the Hirokoji Exit and walk straight through the station premises, you will eventually reach a big street. Cross the street and you will see Tsubakiya Coffee right in front of you. The store has seating on the first and second floors, with smoking allowed in the back of the first floor for electronic cigarettes and in designated areas for regular cigarettes. Due to its convenient location near the station, it can get crowded on weekends and during tea time. Some people use it not just as a café, but also as a restaurant because they offer meals and cakes. The interior of the store is well-designed like other Tsubakiya Coffee branches.

I walked around Ueno and spotted Tsubakiya Coffee Shop where I could take a break. I decided to wait in line as there were only 2 groups ahead of me and some customers were leaving, so the wait shouldn't be too long. After about 20 minutes, I was seated in a second-floor booth. The place is spacious with 142 seats, and there were plenty of empty seats. It seemed like they intentionally didn't fill all seats, maybe because they were short-staffed. I ordered matcha shaved ice, melon cake, and hot coffee, all of which were delicious. The booth seating allowed for a calm and enjoyable conversation. The interior design had a strong Taisho-era romantic atmosphere, making me feel like I had traveled back in time. While they could increase turnover by seating customers quickly, they seemed to prioritize customer satisfaction after being seated. Overall, it's a good choice for a relaxing break in Ueno.

I visited the science museum for a special exhibition reservation at 10:30, so I arrived at the opening at 9:00. I ordered a special ice blend and a gold cheese cake set. The drink was only available as a blend, but I had trouble choosing the cake. There are seasonal cakes available, so I recommend it to people who like cake. I was guided to a sofa seat, and I was able to relax and enjoy my time.

It's a classy café with a smoking area, which my smoking friends appreciated! The drinks and sandwiches were delicious. However, I found the milk tea a bit pricey at around 1,200 yen for just a single serving.

However, considering that the blend coffee alone costs 1000 yen, it doesn't feel too expensive. Tsubakiya Coffee is operated by Toyo Food Service, which also runs Ducky Duck cafes, unlike Hoshino Coffee which is more casual. I had to wait about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. The salad had too much dressing, making it a bit overwhelming. I enjoyed the toast with the egg sandwich filling and ham. The blend coffee was strong and bitter.

It was bustling with customers on a Sunday afternoon, most likely tourists exploring Ueno. I ordered the cake set with a slice of rare cheesecake. The cheesecake had a slightly firm texture, creating a good balance.

I got off the cruise ship "Esmeralda" in Asakusa and headed to Ueno. I had planned to explore Asakusa, but it was crowded with tourists from both Japan and abroad, so I quickly made my way to Ueno. I had plenty of time before my Shinkansen departure, but I didn't want to feel rushed by visiting art museums or museums. So, I decided to spend some time at a popular cafe. I found a cafe called "Tsubakiya Coffee Ueno Salon" near the station. There were several groups of people waiting, and everywhere was crowded that day. For lunch, I had the "Asparagus and Crab Tomato Cream Pasta" set, which came with salad, soup, and a drink. I chose iced coffee for my drink. The copper utensils were lovely, and they also paid attention to the tableware, as the hot tea set was from "Royal Copenhagen." I sat on the first floor, but there were also seats on the second floor designed in a Japanese style where you could enjoy matcha. Despite having plenty of seating, the cafe was always full, showing its popularity. It was a delightful meal.

I was soothed by the hospitality in the scorching heat of Tokyo! I entered this place near Ueno Station for a meeting. Since it was still morning, I ordered the morning set. I chose a cafe au lait for an additional 110 yen. The bread was toasted and I was happy to have egg salad. The jam for the bread felt a bit cheap. I left some bread and also had a Mont Blanc. Continuing from last year, we took a break after shopping in Ameyoko at the end of the year. This time, we shared a classic strawberry shortcake. The shortcake had a traditional taste that was very comforting. While mousse and tart cakes are delicious, I personally prefer the classic cakes the most. The coffee, as always, was poured by a waitress in a maid outfit at our table. The prices may not be cheap, but it is a very relaxing café. It was delicious today as well! Thank you for the meal.

If you walk straight from Ueno Station's central ticket gate and cross the crosswalk, you will see the shop. I almost always go there when I feel like having coffee, even after drinking. The coffee is not cheap, but it is very delicious. The cakes are also delicious. I don't like noisy cafes, so this place is a regular spot for me.

Visited in the afternoon on a holiday in 2021. There were no seats with power outlets. The cafe seemed to be themed around the Shinobazu Pond, with cute silhouettes of ducks subtly incorporated throughout. I took a break after getting tired from shopping on New Year's Eve. The exterior didn't give it away, but once inside, it was a very retro and lovely coffee shop. It was not a cafe, but a perfect coffee shop. And I was surprised by the prices - they were high! Oh, so this is a high-end coffee shop... It was a freezing day, so I ordered a cafe latte to warm up. However, the cafe latte took a while to arrive. In the meantime, the staff (not just any staff, but the waiter himself) kindly lent me a blanket as I looked cold, and informed me that they had turned up the heating. The hospitality was top-notch. When the cafe latte finally arrived, it was delicious. I had intended to savor it slowly, but it was so tasty and I was so hungry that I finished it in no time. This place had a really nice atmosphere, and I would have loved to stay for 2-3 hours if possible. On a side note, even the restroom was retro and lovely. I was actually planning to go to a different coffee shop, but it started raining so I decided to go to this familiar one. I ordered a cake set with chiffon cake and a cafe au lait. I used to come to this place in Ikebukuro often. I love the atmosphere and the chiffon cake is delicious, although it's a bit pricey. Thank you for the meal.

There are very few shops open until late, usually closing at 11pm. This place is great because it's open until morning. I visited after the consumption tax increased to 10%, so the cake set cost ¥1,518 including tax. The cake was huge! The iced tea portion was small! Haha. They make ice for the coffee, but for the iced tea, they just use regular ice. Ordering just tea would cost over a thousand yen, so the set is definitely a better deal. If I can't find another open shop, I will come back during this time.

Around 11:40 PM on August 27, I arrived in Ueno a little earlier than planned, so I decided to kill some time. I found this coffee shop right outside the central ticket gate of Ueno Station. Even though it was late, they were still open, so I went in. I didn't really pay attention to the prices, but I was shocked when I saw the bill! Cake and coffee for this price?! It said it was a special service fee... The taste was okay, but I won't be visiting again.

Having a meeting in the pouring rain! In Ueno, we urgently needed to find a cafe where we could have a conversation, and we stumbled upon Tsubakiya Coffee Shop. However, in our haste, we got off at Uguisudani Station instead of Ueno Station, and had to walk one extra stop in the pouring rain... We made it to the meeting on time, but we were soaking wet. I ordered Tsubakiya's iced coffee. The quiet atmosphere and the iced coffee helped me calm down.

It's a bit pricey, but all the branches are consistently good, right? I didn't know there was one in Ueno, so this was my first visit. The calm atmosphere and the staff's maid-like uniforms are cute. The coffee is delicious, and the atmosphere reminiscent of a Taisho-era cafe is just right for taking a breather. Personally, I love their special beef curry. It's a European-style curry with plenty of onions and large chunks of beef, like the beef curry at a Western-style restaurant. It doesn't have a strong spice flavor, but I crave it occasionally. The same taste is served at both branches. The only downside was that the plate for the rice was cold, so the rice cooled quickly. The coffee and curry set with salad for ¥1800 is a bit expensive, but you'll be satisfied with the taste and atmosphere. Thank you for the meal.
