Continuing from January 2020... After having lunch at "Delhi" in Ueno, doing some shopping at the Ueno Tourist Information Center, we returned to Ueno Zoo. We are going to make sure to see the whole Shan Shan family in the afternoon! Chibitsunu: "Shan-chan is not in the small garden, huh?" Looking into the room, Shan Shan was sound asleep on the platform. Probably got sleepy after lunch, huh? Such a happy sleeping face. Chibitsunu: "Shan-chan, looks like a puppy when seen like this." Shan Shan's mother, Shin Shin, was in the larger garden, wandering around. Maybe looking for something to eat? Chibitsunu: "Wandering around and appealing to the keepers." Next door, Shan Shan's father, Li Li, was rubbing his back against the platform. Is he scratching his back or marking territory? Not sure, but his suspicious movements are quite entertaining to watch. Second viewing. Earlier, Shan Shan was sleeping soundly. This time, she was walking around the room. I love Shan Shan's profile too. Chibitsunu: "The angle of Shan-chan's nose is exquisite." Shan Shan's mother, Shin Shin, was still in the larger garden. Maybe she received a bamboo treat from the keepers? She seemed to enjoy it. Next door, Li Li, Shan Shan's father, was back in the room and having a snack of panda dumplings. He must have received a treat from the keepers too. Third viewing. Shan Shan was sitting in the front row of the room, having a meal. Shan Shan's back is so cute when she's enjoying her food. Chibitsunu: "Shan Shan's nose is buried in bamboo." It seems we can have one more viewing session before it ends... Hurry! Fourth viewing. Shan Shan was still awake and having her meal in a visible spot. Maybe she's taking longer to eat now that she's grown up? That face when she's enjoying her food, adorable! Shan Shan, see you again tomorrow. Chibitsunu: "Thank you for showing us your cute face, Shan-chan." Let's try to take a photo of Shan Shan and Li Li together, but Li Li was sitting in front of the door, gazing inside. Wonder what's going on? Chibitsunu: "Maybe he wants a snack." Next door is Shin Shin, Shan Shan's mother. Her face resembles Shan Shan's a lot. Truly a beautiful mother-daughter pair. And that's the end of today's panda viewing session. We managed to see the pandas 9 times today, a record for us. Very satisfied! After meeting the Shan Shan family at Ueno Zoo, we visited "Tsubakiya Coffee Shop Ueno Tea House." I've always been curious about this place whenever I come to Ueno. Chibitsunu: "I've been curious too." There's a panda plushie in the shop's window! I've been curious about it every time I pass by.
