On weekdays at 7:00 PM, I made a phone reservation for the Chef's Choice Dinner Course (¥19,800) two days in advance. Although it seems unrelated now, Ochanomizu's Ogawaken used to be in the same group. They have a free parking lot for 4-5 cars, which they can reserve for you if you ask when making a reservation. While a la carte is available in the evening, the explanation during the phone reservation made it seem like the course was the usual choice, so I went with that. It costs around ¥20,000 per person, making it quite a high-end Western restaurant. Compared to other high-end restaurants like Mikawaya in Ginza or Namban Gingentei where it's around ¥10,000, it's double the price. The course consists of 7 seafood-centered appetizers. For the main course, you can choose between steak or seafood, but since the appetizers are seafood-based, steak is recommended. Starting with Ratatouille, there's also Sea Bream Carpaccio, Scallops, and other seafood options with very little meat. The famous Sea Bream Carpaccio has a unique sauce that pairs perfectly with the fish, creating a distinct taste for Carpaccio. It tastes even better when you dip the bread in the sauce. The Scallops come with a unique cream sauce. Each dish has an exquisite sauce, resembling French cuisine. The main course steak is made from Kumamoto's Red Beef. They also serve a bit of rice, which goes well with the spicy soy sauce. Overall, every dish was satisfying in taste, showcasing the excellence of this longstanding establishment. According to reviews, many people seem to have complaints about the cost performance, and indeed, it feels quite expensive for Western cuisine. While it may not be considered expensive for French cuisine, it is a fact that it is pricey compared to other high-end Western restaurants, making it questionable whether it's worth double the value. However, it is definitely worth trying this high-level Western cuisine at least once.
