Lunchtime with a friend in Shibuya! We were looking for something to eat, and my friend requested Japanese food. We found a place called Nakayoshi in Shibuya Stream, known for its hot pot rice in Ebisu. Despite being a bit late for lunch, the place was surprisingly busy. I decided to try the mackerel mirin-dried fish set meal, which came with rice, miso soup, okra and pickles. The rice was shiny and delicious, and the mackerel was flavorful and tender. I ended up eating more rice than I usually do because it was so tasty. The only downside was the slightly unfriendly attitude of the staff. Overall, the food was really good.

The two side dishes are kimpira and hijiki, both with a slightly strong taste. I was looking forward to the clay pot rice, but I was quite disappointed. It was unevenly cooked and a bit mushy, even after getting seconds. I think it's the way it was cooked, but it's a shame. The side dishes were tasty though. The restaurant's name has "clay pot" in it, so hopefully it will taste better next time. Thank you for the meal.

I have used this restaurant multiple times through other stores and Uber, and it has great usability and delicious food. It's my favorite place! There were about five groups waiting in line, but I only had to wait for about 10 minutes to get in. After some hesitation, I decided to go with the limited edition fried chicken with tomato sauce set. The tomato sauce was a bit mediocre though. You can get free refills of rice, and the menu is extensive. I definitely want to go back again!

Looking at the menu, I tend to choose dishes that I find troublesome to cook at home, so I decided on the pork belly for 1400 yen. No one was talking about high uric acid levels, so I added a slightly luxurious dish for 300 yen. The white rice was indeed the best! I asked for a second helping of rice and enjoyed the taste of just rice in my mouth as well. After finishing my meal, the other solo salaryman who was there had also left, leaving me alone. Delicious food is best enjoyed with someone else, as the restaurant's name suggests. The reasonably priced Japanese meal was quite good.

A restaurant located along my commuting route where you can enjoy a delicious dinner even at night. It's crowded but the turnover is fast. You can have unlimited rice refills and the set meal, priced just over 1,000 yen, comes with side dishes, making it very satisfying. I plan to visit often. The rice was fragrant and had a nice texture. The okra side dish was refreshing and delicious. According to their website, they offer free refills for their clay pot rice, do not use artificial seasonings, and you will receive change from a 1000 yen set meal. The main store offers a nikujaga set meal for 900 yen. It's understandable that the Shibuya store, with higher rent and other costs, would be priced 200 yen higher, but it does feel a bit expensive. The gentle and flavorful taste of the dishes makes it suitable for everyday dining. However, the nikujaga may be too mild in flavor if you want to enjoy it heartily with rice. Ordering dishes like miso-marinated mackerel, grilled fish, or fried foods at the main store might give a different impression.

I visited around 8:30 on Friday and was able to get in smoothly without waiting (almost full). After that, a long line quickly formed, so I wondered if it gets crowded during late hours on weekdays. This was my second visit, and I still find this restaurant to be quite clean and inviting. It's very convenient as a casual dining spot. The staff, many of whom are foreigners, are all very friendly and provide great service. The food, needless to say, is extremely delicious. While the fried chicken is tempting, the fish dishes are also quite good and highly recommended.

I added fried mackerel with sweet soy sauce and fried chicken. The miso-flavored pickled cucumber and miso soup may have been a bit too salty. Even when the new rice gets old in the summer, the rice here is delicious. The rice is on the softer side with more water, but the mixed rice is slightly firm. This cooking method is rare, but very tasty. The sweetness of the rice goes well with the bitterness of the beer.

I also often go to the main store, but now that my workplace is close by, I go to Stream. I especially like the Mizore-ni (simmered dish) and order it every time. The Tatsutaage (fried chicken) and Nanban (fried fish) are also delicious, but lately I have been repeating Mizore-ni. It gets crowded during lunchtime, so try going at a different time.

Even on a holiday, I thought it would be empty around 5 pm, but I was surprised to see quite a few people. It was popular with more and more people coming in after I sat down. I ordered a dish with chicken and summer vegetables, and it was delicious! I hesitated about having a soup dish in this heat, but it was really good! I especially liked the pumpkin soaked in the soup. It was nice that they accepted various payment methods, including American Express, unlike the Meguro branch.

When I lived in Shibuya, I often used to visit "Nakayoshi" and I had dinner there after a long time since I was nearby. The fried chicken was delicious (everything I order is delicious). I usually order fish dishes, and on this day, I had the grilled mackerel set meal. I also recommend the Ebisu branch (along Meiji Street) and the Namikibashi branch near the Torii gate of the Kanekoyahata Shrine!

The meat in the stewed potatoes is thinly sliced pork belly? It's a bit different from the stewed potatoes I remember from the past. First, break the potatoes and eat them with rice. Hmm, the broth is indeed delicious. It's not too thick, so it's drinkable. The potatoes are slightly firm, and it would be nice if the flavor penetrated a bit more. The onions, white radish, and carrots have a nice flavor and texture, and the okra and pickled daikon salad add color and a good texture, making the rice go down smoothly. The miso soup is really delicious! The aroma of the broth? The richness of the bonito flakes? It spreads in your mouth, making you want to drink it every day. The rice is shiny and has a nice texture. I even got a refill. It's a proper, delicious meal, and I want to believe it's healthy, but it's very satisfying! There also seems to be seasonal limited edition menus using seasonal ingredients, so I feel like visiting again (*^^*)

I couldn't decide between the fish dish and the grated radish simmered dish, but I ended up choosing the grated radish simmered set meal because I felt like having grated radish. The dish consisted of large-sized chicken tempura and large-cut eggplant. It was a substantial main dish. The side dishes included simmered minced konjac and okra and shirataki noodles with hijiki seaweed. Miso soup was also included. And of course, the rice cooked in an earthenware pot. Lately, I've been thinking that I prefer restaurants with delicious rice. Rice is important after all! I used to only eat vegetables, but now I've finally realized the greatness of rice (laughs). We added natto for an extra ¥100, and the combination with rice was beyond amazing. I ended up having two servings of the large rice because it was so good. By the way, rice refills are free, which is amazing. Considering the variety and deliciousness of the dishes, the price of ¥1100 is very reasonable, don't you think?
