I had meat udon with fried tofu topping. The broth had a nice fragrance of dried bonito and the richness was just right. There was a good amount of pork in it. The fried tofu had a great flavor and size. The noodles were not too slippery and had a good saltiness. It was delicious.

I felt like eating udon and happened to be nearby, so I decided to visit after a long time. I ordered the summer limited edition vinegar and citrus cold udon, which came with kashiwa tempura. Personally, I prefer tempura to be served on a separate plate when eating noodles, but this time it was the default setting so I had no choice. However, just as I was thinking that, the kashiwa tempura was delicious with a nice touch of salt and pepper! As for the udon itself, I wasn't a big fan of the warm menu from my previous visit, but this cold menu was perfect for me this time! I poured plenty of vinegar and citrus on it, and it was perfect for a hot day! The udon noodles were slightly on the sweeter side, but overall, it was delicious!

I passed by this restaurant on my way to work and remembered that I had just been here recently. Despite the hot weather, I was drawn to the meat udon topped with chikuwa tempura from Tokushima or Kagawa on the menu. I ordered it cold, and it was delicious. Thank you for the meal!

I had the cold udon noodles with negi and meat at Kujou Negi Udon (800 yen). The noodles were firm and the broth was lightly flavored, very delicious. The generous amount of Kujou Negi on top made a satisfying crunch as I ate. I noticed others around me ordering dishes like tamagokake gohan, so I'd like to try that next time I visit.

I went to Konpira-san when I didn't feel like eating anything because of the hot weather at lunchtime, but I was hungry. I saw a comment saying that the rice was powdery, so I paid attention to it, but I didn't mind it. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived before 2 o'clock on a regular day and the restaurant was almost full, but not completely full. There was a constant flow of customers coming in, so there was never a break in the crowd. I ordered cold tempura udon with a poached egg topping, and it was served in about 5 minutes. The clear broth looked beautiful and tasted delicious! It had a harmonious blend of various dashi flavors, with the subtle umami of kelp standing out. I couldn't stop eating it after the first few bites. The noodles were not firm, but rather chewy and didn't have a salty taste, so they didn't absorb the broth easily. Maybe it's because it was cold udon? I tried to save the poached egg until the end to keep it warm, and the tempura had a firm yet tender texture, and it was very tasty.

During lunchtime, there was a line but I was able to buy a ticket and enter without waiting. The restaurant was almost full inside. I handed my ticket to the staff and received my bowl of noodles in just 5 minutes. Oh? There's no ginger on the table! When I asked the staff, they gave me some freshly grated ginger in a small dish. I like the simple kake udon where you can taste the noodles and broth. I prefer it with green onions, grated ginger, and shichimi pepper. The noodles are not too firm or too soft, just like Sanuki udon. The wheat flavor is not overpowering, but it balances well with the broth and is easy to eat. It's a great place where you can sit and eat for the price of a standing udon shop. The staff, many of whom are young, provide quick and pleasant service.

Despite arriving before noon, this popular restaurant had a queue. The interior is not fancy, but it reminds one of a clean and austere udon shop. Surprisingly, the background music was by Queen (why, haha). I ordered the cold udon with tempura (payment was by food ticket, cash only). The broth was clear and golden, with a fragrant dashi aroma. Just one sip and I knew immediately it was a top-notch shop. The udon had an unparalleled firmness, even compared to udon in Kagawa, the home of udon. You have to chew it well, or it feels like it might get stuck in your throat. The noodles were glossy and beautiful. Toppings are self-serve, which is great. The tempura was tender, juicy, with a crispy coating and a satisfying portion. The high quality and affordable price were also pleasing. It claims to be "udon to eat every day," and it truly lived up to that.

This is a udon restaurant located near Onarimon Station in Shinbashi. When I visited for an early lunch, there were about 3-4 groups of customers already there. It seemed like many people were also getting takeout. I bought a meal ticket from the ticket machine outside and handed it to the staff inside. They brought the food to my table and took care of everything.
Cabbage and clam udon - ¥880
This is a spring limited edition udon. I asked for extra toppings, which were quite generous, especially the cabbage. It seemed like it could fill me up just by itself. The udon had a strong chewiness and a nice wheat flavor. The broth was different from a simple dipping sauce, with a clam flavor that soaked into the noodles.
This udon place seems more suited for those who enjoy simple broth or dipping-style udon, so I would like to try that kind of menu next time.

There are 3 ticket vending machines at the storefront, so first buy a food ticket and order the Bukkake Udon. The simple dish was served in about 1 minute after sitting down, and the Udon noodles were very firm. It is recommended to eat them chilled with the soup made from Iriko from Setouchi and Rishiri Kombu, with condiments like Tempura flakes, Sansho pepper, and vinegar available. The interior of the restaurant consists only of a counter with stylish tatami-covered chairs without backrests lined up. Tissues are hanging behind the table at each seat, so even if you forget them, you don't have to worry. It was really delicious, and the side menu items like curry were also very reasonable. I would like to visit again.

It's been a while since my last visit. Today, I chose the cold noodles with broth. Even with this type, the broth is delicious. However, when it's served cold, the noodles feel too firm. It's a shame. Noodles with a good chew and hard noodles are different things, so it's really disappointing. Still, I prefer it over a certain major chain restaurant!

Second visit. Last time was takeout, so this time I dined in. First, buy a meal ticket outside and hand it over at the entrance before taking a seat. They bring the food to your table when it's ready. I didn't have a great impression from the takeout last time, so I came back to make a final judgment. There are always people gathered outside during lunchtime, so I was curious to see if it had improved. Soup... salty. Lacks depth in the soy sauce broth. Fried items... served in a narrow container, so utensils like ladles don't get stuck in it, which is hygienic. Other condiments... same style as other places. The most important part, the noodles... good firmness but too powdery. Not delicious at all. Every bite feels like powder. Price... not cheap, so it's disappointing. Takeout... cheap. Probably why there's always a crowd outside. Will I come back? Sorry, no. New Shimbashi is now a fierce battleground for udon. How long can they survive?

This place is amazing. It's quite far from Daimon Station, but it was worth the walk! I love both udon and soba with a firm texture, so I was torn between the tempura and the spring cabbage and clam soba, but I was drawn to the latter because it includes vegetables and is a limited-time offering. The best part is that you can get extra cabbage and clams for free! Usually, places offer free extra noodles, but free extra toppings is amazing for carb-conscious women. I also ordered the vegetable tempura, which together cost less than a thousand yen. The tempura included snow peas and lotus root, which was a nice change from the usual carrots and onions. The tempura was decent for a budget udon place, with a not-too-thick batter that was satisfying for the price. Now, onto the udon, which was incredibly delicious! I thought it would be a cold dish, but it turned out to be a rich, cloudy clam soup. The broth was full of intense clam flavor and was incredibly tasty. The spring cabbage was tender, and there were plenty of clams in the bowl, even more than the extra portion I ordered, which was a pleasant surprise. The noodles were chewy with a firm texture. While there are plenty of udon places these days charging over a thousand yen, udon is traditionally a cheap dish, so this place gets it right! Great value for money, delicious taste, a full house but quick turnover because it's udon, and the female staff were efficient and polite. This place deserves to be in the top 100 udon shops in no time! There are plenty of overrated places in the top 100, so I hope places like this get the recognition they deserve. I liked this place much more than the other famous udon shop in Daimon, Jiroku!

■April 2023 Visited a restaurant located a short walk from Hamamatsucho Station, definitely worth a visit. As the name "Konpira-san" suggests, you can enjoy Kagawa-style udon noodles with a firm texture. I purchased a bowl of bukkake udon (hot) along with chicken tempura and chikuwa tempura from the ticket vending machine. The udon was served quickly after entering the restaurant. When asked if I wanted ginger, they kindly brought it to me. I appreciated the hygienic handling. I'm not a fan of the self-service style with toppings like green onions and tempura bits, so this was a plus for me. The tempura bits were served in a container similar to the sauce container, making it easy to add them to the udon. The udon had a strong texture and was very delicious. The standout was the chicken tempura. Both the chicken and chikuwa tempura were freshly fried and crispy. The chicken tempura was especially juicy and exquisite. I chose to enjoy it with salt instead of dipping it in the broth to savor the crispiness. Wow, I was impressed that I could enjoy such delicious udon in Tokyo without having to go to Kagawa! It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of udon, I have to admit that this udon was delicious. It was my first time visiting this place, so I wanted to really savor the taste of the noodles, that's why I purposely ordered the "shoyu" flavor. Simply dipping the udon in raw soy sauce and eating it was a delightful experience. The noodles had a nice firm texture, and I realized that this is what they mean by "koshi". I would definitely come back to this udon shop again when I'm in the neighborhood.

I visited a Sanuki udon restaurant called "Konpira-san" located about a 10-minute walk from Shinbashi Station, Uchisai-guchi. I tried the cold bukkake udon for 480 yen and the homemade kitsune udon for 130 yen. The broth was rich with a slightly sweet taste, and the noodles were firm with a texture similar to Musashino udon. It was delicious. Although it's not a area I often visit, I would like to come back again.

I visited during late lunch on a weekday and ordered the curry for 460 yen and the beef tendon rice for 350 yen. There were 10 customers before me and 4 customers after me. The staff consisted of 4 people. The service was very fast. It would have been nice if they offered a smaller portion of rice.

Arrived at 11:45. 50% capacity. There was a line, but I ordered the kake udon for 460 yen and the beef tendon rice bowl for 350 yen, totaling 810 yen. The texture of the Sanuki udon was acceptable. It stretches a bit when warm, which I find to be within an acceptable range. I finished all the soup in the dashi broth, which had a subtle seafood flavor making it easy to drink. The beef tendon in the rice bowl was tender and flavorful.

It's been a while since I visited Konpira-san. I suddenly noticed that a second store has opened in Hatchobori. The seasonal special seems to be the "Beef Tendon Rice Bowl" for 350 yen. The beef tendon is soft and delicious. I think it's definitely better to go for the "Beef Tendon Udon" though. Overall rating at this moment is 3.39.

The shop is about a 5-minute walk from Onarimon Station. It was a cold day, so I ordered warm chicken tempura udon and a mini curry since I was hungry. The food came out quickly. First of all, the broth was delicious. The noodles were quite thick, but they had a slightly dry and lacking firmness. If the noodles were better, like the ones at Ichifuku or Jin-san, it would have been more enjoyable. The broth was good, but the noodles were disappointing.
