In early October, I visited Higashimurayama for the first time. Due to the impact of the coronavirus, I had been avoiding dining out with friends since the end of March, so I was really looking forward to this day (^o^)/* It was a fun dining experience after six months of not seeing each other. We started at 11:30 and left the restaurant after 3 pm! It was a moment that passed by in a flash. I am very grateful to the kind Y-san who invited me and the wonderful people I had the pleasure of dining with. When I entered the gate and stepped into the property, I was surrounded by a beautiful garden with tall bamboo trees, making me momentarily feel like I was in Ohara, Kyoto. Looking up, I saw bamboo leaves swaying in the wind against a backdrop of blue sky, and at my feet were adorned with hydrangeas and other plants, creating a dazzling greenery (^o^)/* The building was constructed 18 years ago, using plenty of materials from old Japanese houses, exuding a calm elegance. The dining room at the end of the hallway, passing through the dignified irori and okudosan, had a high ceiling and a heavy, sophisticated design. It's such a luxury to enjoy a meal in such a space (^o^)/*(^o^)/* If there's a ryokan like this, I want to stay there! I first received an appetizer of colorful dishes. It was so vibrant that it felt like a waste to eat it (^_^). The white tofu salad with small pieces of muscat grapes had a crunchy texture that was fun to eat. I tried a little bit of everything. There was steamed chicken and shimeji mushrooms in a pot. I enjoyed it with sake. The sashimi included tuna, yellowtail, tempura of sea bream, man-ganji pepper, and fig. The fig tempura was something I tried for the first time. The gentle sweetness of the fruit wrapped in tempura batter was delightful. The sea bream tempura was delicious. When it was brought out, I was surprised by its thickness. I wondered how big this sea bream was when it was still swimming in the sea. Sea bream is known for its white flesh, so I only have a mild image of it. However, this sea bream was cooked perfectly, moist and juicy, and very delicious. There was a rice dish with ayu fish and shimeji mushrooms. It had a sweet taste. Lunch kaiseki with sake, including tax, came to a total of 7480 yen. I would like to express my gratitude once again to Y-san for inviting me to such a wonderful place (^o^)/* Thank you to K-san for creating a fun and lively atmosphere, and to D-san for sharing detailed information about train transfers. Thank you all so much for a truly enjoyable time (^o^)/* It was so much fun (^o^)/* Please let's continue to have a good relationship in the future ( ◠‿◠ ) ===========
