#Hakata Tenjin Shinjuku Higashiguchi Ekimae Store #Tonkotsu Ramen 600 yen #This is my 325th ramen of the year. I visited Hakata Tenjin Shinjuku Higashiguchi Ekimae Store for the fourth time this year. I wanted to have the cold noodles, but they were already sold out, so I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen for 600 yen instead. Hakata Tenjin offers a free extra noodle, so I ordered a regular serving and added red pickled ginger and spicy mustard greens for flavor variation. Unfortunately, I was only able to have the cold noodles at Hakata Tenjin once this year. T^T What a shame.

This is a ramen shop located behind the Alta building near Shinjuku Station. It's a popular shop that has been around for a long time. The interior has counter seats and table seats on the first floor, with additional seating on the second floor. When we visited as a pair, the counter was full so we were directed to the second floor. The system involved purchasing tickets at the ticket machine at the entrance on the second floor. By the way, extra noodles were free once, which was surprising. Soon, the ramen arrived. There were various condiments on the table for flavoring. First, I tried the soup and then tasted the ramen. Wow, it's delicious! It's a mild and creamy tonkotsu ramen with no strong flavors. The firmness of the noodles was not asked for. Adding some spices like red ginger made it even more delicious. I definitely wanted to have extra noodles, so I got them here. Oh, the portion of the extra noodles is quite generous, isn't it? I was impressed by the amount. You can also enjoy changing the flavor using the spicy pickled vegetables on the table. However, the clientele here is quite rough, as we overheard some unpleasant conversations from the neighboring table, which was shocking.

From this day on the Tokyo expedition, when I arrived from Tokyo Station to Shinjuku around noon, I thought I should eat something, and I found this place. It's a long counter shop where many elderly people make ramen. When I sat down, I underestimated it. I ordered a beer and a kikurage ramen. The beer was a small bottle for 450 yen, and the kikurage ramen was quickly made with plenty of kikurage mushrooms. It was only 700 yen, which seemed like a good deal. It also says one free extra serving of noodles on the menu. When I tried it, it was surprisingly delicious. You can also change the taste with the takana (pickled mustard greens) and ramen sauce on the table. It had a strong taste of artificial seasoning, but I liked it. There seem to be other branches of the shop, so I might visit again.

It's just past 2 pm, but I've already hit up two bars and feeling a bit tipsy. I think I'll grab some noodles and head home. Surprisingly, there aren't many good ramen shops around Kabukicho. You have to go to Sanchome or Ueno for the best ones. I realized I hadn't had the cold noodles from Hakata Tenjin this year, so I decided to stop by. Despite the crowds from inbound tourists, I ordered the cold noodles. It came with red pickled ginger, wood ear mushrooms, bean sprouts, shredded omelette, char siu, glass noodles, and a lot of toppings. The noodles were wide and chewy, and surprisingly short. They were green because of the chlorella. The sauce was quite sour and made me cough a bit when I slurped it. I recommend sprinkling lots of sesame seeds and red pickled ginger from the table, and mixing in some spicy pickled mustard greens. All this for just 600 yen, it's impressive.

The taste remains unchanged for over half a century, always delicious. The free half portion of seasoned egg has been discontinued and is now sold separately for 100 yen each. Also, the bowl for the rice bowl seems to have gotten smaller, or is it just my imagination? Next time, I want to try the Chlorella-infused cold noodles for 600 yen in Shinbashi, Ochanomizu, Shinjuku Sanchome, or Shinjuku again. I will definitely visit again. Please note that if you like the strong animal smell of authentic Hakata ramen, this may not be the right place for you. There are also two Kumamoto ramen restaurants, Katsuka, located next to the alley.

In 2023, I visited this place for the first time in about 10 years after hopping around 4 ramen shops in Shinjuku for Nori Ramen (firm noodles) with an extra serving (extra firm noodles). It brought back memories of the days when I used to drink and hang out in Shinjuku almost every day a few years ago. Hakata Tenjin currently has 7 branches in Tokyo, with 2 in Shinjuku, 2 in Shinbashi, and one each in Shibuya, Ikebukuro, and Ochanomizu! The default tonkotsu ramen is priced at ¥600 with a free extra serving, which is an unbelievable value for money. I visited around 10:50 PM, and the first floor was almost full, with the second floor also filling up quickly. The operating hours are from 11:00 AM to 4:00 AM, which is impressive. The appearance of the ramen brought back nostalgic memories. The noodles are extremely thin straight noodles with a crunchy texture that I really like. Since you get a free extra serving, I had to try it. The soup is made with domestic pork bone, giving it a nice pork flavor, but it's a bit light, so I added some sauce from the table and some garlic to customize it to my liking, which made it incredibly delicious. The chashu is lean and on the smaller side, but very tasty. The generous amount of green onions was a nice touch. The wood ear mushrooms added a good texture. The seaweed is standard, with about 6 sheets in the Nori Ramen. I enjoyed adding lots of garlic, pickled ginger, and sesame from the table throughout the meal. This place is definitely perfect for ending a night of drinking. I confirmed once again that it's a great place to visit. I'll definitely come back again!

After a night of heavy drinking and eating, and making a lot of noise, for some reason I always end up wanting to go to Hakata Tenjin. When I wake up the next day and look at my phone's photos, there is always one thing that stands out... am I addicted? Haha. The creamy tonkotsu soup, thin noodles, and wood ear mushrooms are irresistible. For the second bowl after getting an extra serving, I always top it off with red ginger, sesame, and garlic. I've been a regular customer here since I started working, it's been over 20 years now.

I visited around 6:00 pm on a regular day. There was no line, but there were 5-6 customers inside the shop. What I had: Ramen for ¥600. It was delicious, with thin noodles and a pork bone soup mixed with spicy pickled vegetables and red ginger. Of course, I also got a free extra serving of noodles. It's amazing to find this price range in these times. Thank you for the meal!

When I want to eat a quick pork bone ramen, I use this place. I ended up stopping by after drinking. I ordered the ramen for 600 yen. As always, the speed of service is top-notch! That's why I feel like stopping by quickly. I also like the taste of the soup. Since I had been drinking, I didn't get an extra serving of noodles. Of course, I will use this place again! Thank you for the meal!

Even though it was over 30 degrees, I felt like eating ramen and decided to visit a ramen shop. On my way there, I had the urge to run to a famous tsukemen shop, but this time I was more inclined towards a Hakata-style ramen with extra noodles. Without hesitation, I ordered the regular ramen (600 yen) with firm noodles as usual. The crunchy noodles were delicious, and the soup was a light tonkotsu flavor that never gets boring. The unpretentious atmosphere, opposite of trendy, was calming for me. For the first bowl, I didn't add anything extra, but for the free extra noodles, I added extra pickled mustard greens to give it a summery touch (I add them even in the cold winter). After finishing the noodles, I added more pickled mustard greens and sesame seeds to the soup and finished it all. I sweated a lot.

I visited this place because I was nearby for work! Back when I was a student, I used to go to a different branch of Hakata Tenjin attracted by the free extra noodles, and it's been a while since then. When I see that yellow sign, it reminds me of those days and the taste! Even though I knew it wasn't the best choice to eat in this scorching heat, I couldn't resist and devoured the noodles, got an extra serving, and added some spicy pickled greens. Delicious... The pork is not too strong, and the slightly unique flavor is irresistible... I'll come back when it gets a little cooler!

About a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station East Exit. When it comes to Hakata ramen, the extra noodles are appealing. What's more, they offer a delightful service of one free extra noodle serving. I visited around 10 pm and the restaurant was about 80% full. The thin noodles were delicious with the rich tonkotsu soup. They also have the convenience of being open until 4 am, so you can even have ramen as a late-night meal. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Hakata Tenjin Shinjuku Higashiguchi Ekimae store for the third time this year around 7:30 pm. I ordered the cold noodles (hiyashi chuka) in large size for 700 yen. Since they didn't have extra noodles, I made it a large size and added extra spicy mustard greens and red pickled ginger because there wasn't enough. It was really delicious. The jade noodles complemented the cold noodles perfectly.

This is my first visit. Located a 4-5 minute walk from Shinjuku Station, this place has a casual atmosphere like a food stall. I visited at 11 am on a weekday and it was about 30% full. Today, I ordered the Chashu Ramen for 850 yen. I was torn between the ramen for 600 yen, but decided on this one after seeing it was popular based on the sign outside the shop. It arrived in about 2 minutes. Fast! It came with green onions, wood ear mushrooms, chashu, and seaweed. The broth was white with thin white noodles. The sign in the shop said to add the sauce for an authentic Hakata taste, but they intentionally held back on it. You can adjust the flavor with the condiments on the table. I took a bite and yes, it was mild as described. However, the pork bone aroma was strong. The noodles were on the firmer side, a bit chewy. The chashu initially felt dry, but once soaked in the soup, it became tender and quite tasty. I added red ginger, sesame seeds, and pickled greens from the table to change up the flavor as I ate. I felt like it needed a bit more sauce, which I couldn't quite make up for with the toppings. I asked for a free extra serving of noodles and they gave me a full portion on a plate. This is great value for money. It's convenient for when you're short on cash or in a hurry. The long opening hours are also a plus. Next time, I'll try the ramen. Thank you for the meal.

It's a 9-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station. There are two floors, with a few counter seats and table seats on the first floor. I sat at the counter on the first floor and placed my order with the staff. I ordered the "ramen" and it arrived in about 2 minutes. It was a tonkotsu ramen with thin noodles, a dish I have always loved. I was happy that they still offer one free extra noodle refill, just like they used to. I added some condiments provided and enjoyed every last bit of it.

Because I was so caught up in my daily routine, I forgot to write about it... lol I have been a regular at the store near Shinjuku Gyoen and the store near the entrance of Kabukicho for a long time. In the past, it was 500 yen and you could get a free extra bowl with the flyer at the entrance of the store. But really, who needs the flyer if you can just bring it yourself, right? lol Now, the price is 600 yen, and everyone who wants can get an extra bowl for free. Yes, yes. In this day and age, 600 yen with an extra bowl is really doing their best. I eat the first bowl "as is" and then customize the second bowl with condiments like pickled ginger, sesame seeds, spicy pickled vegetables, soup base, and (garlic) using the items on the table. The second bowl, with my own unique touch, tastes even better. I think I will continue to visit this shop occasionally in the future. Thank you always.

#Hakata Tenjin Shinjuku Higashiguchi Ekimae Store#Tonkotsu Ramen#204th ramen of the year I stopped by Hakata Tenjin Shinjuku Higashiguchi Ekimae Store on my way back from Oono-ya and had my second visit this year. I ordered the Tonkotsu ramen for 600 yen and got a free extra noodle, which can vary in firmness depending on the staff. Today's ramen was on the firmer side. The Tonkotsu soup was cloudy from being cooked in a pressure cooker, and it came with spicy mustard greens and pickled ginger.
