I went to "Sendai" in Mizuhashi. The beef tongue curry is 800 yen and comes out quickly. The photo shows steam rising. It's not a bitter black curry, but a mellow European-style curry with a rich flavor of fond de veau. It has a taste that is somewhere between beef stew and curry. It competes well with the curry at famous Western-style restaurants, but for example, the beef curry at Ogawaken costs around 2,000 yen, and even more with beef tongue added. The thick slices of beef tongue are plentiful. The rice is 300g so it's filling. Some places that serve a lot of rice tend to skimp on the curry, but here there is plenty of curry. While there are curry places that stick to nostalgic flavors and prices, despite being a relatively new establishment, this place offers authentic European-style curry at a bargain. The sight of the manager constantly stirring the pot was impressive, and that's why I felt the curry was so good. In Jimbocho, many European-style curries cost over 1,000 yen even without beef tongue, but the regular curry here is just a mere coin. I've tried various curries in Jimbocho, but this might be the best for European-style curry. The interior plays the military march, so I initially thought it was Navy curry, but it seems not. I thought it was a clever way for customers to eat quickly. There are only counter seats available.

I was nervous when entering the restaurant because many people mentioned getting scolded for using their phones or talking too much. However, I didn't touch my phone and I was dining alone, so I didn't have to worry about conversation. I ordered the beef tongue curry with toppings of tonkatsu and hamburger, which cost 1600 yen. The price was great considering the prime location. I ate a lot, and the owner seemed happy. He even explained how the curry was made. He was friendly and kind. Maybe he wants customers to fully enjoy the curry he worked hard to make, which is why he prohibits phone use. I found it cute. The hamburger had a strange spice that I didn't like, so I won't be a repeat customer, but the tonkatsu was delicious! Next time, I'll try the beef tendon curry or the pheasant curry.

Pork curry and coleslaw salad. Coleslaw: Refreshing and delicious with a nice tangy flavor. Pork curry: This portion for 500 yen is a great deal. It's not very spicy. The meat is very tender and easily falls apart with a spoon. It has a rich and deep flavor with a slightly bitter taste, giving it an impression of a mature curry. Thank you for the meal.

At Sendai, a popular European-style curry restaurant in Jinbocho, I ordered the Katsu Curry. The curry was black in color, with a mild level of spiciness that was slightly sweet. It had a rich flavor and was delicious. #Sendai #EuropeanCurry #CurryRice #KatsuCurry #JinbochoGourmet #Lunch #FoodiesWanted

I went out to Jimbocho and was debating whether to go to R Sri Lanka, which was delicious the other day, or to go to Kyoeido, but decided to try this place that I haven't been to before. It's a small restaurant with only a counter, run by a middle-aged couple and another person. I ordered the pork cutlet curry for 730 yen. In this day and age where everything is getting more expensive, getting a pork cutlet curry for 730 yen is quite a feat. I watched the cooking process and it seemed like the toppings were microwaved, but considering the price, I didn't mind if they weren't freshly fried. The dish was served in about 1-2 minutes. The curry sauce was quite dark, similar to Kyoeido's, but it had a fruity taste and seemed to have some flour in it for thickness. The curry was fruity from the first bite and didn't have much spiciness despite being labeled as medium spicy on the menu. It reminded me of the curry you would find at a Western-style restaurant. I couldn't help but think they could raise the price a bit more for the quality.

I should have calmly checked the wall menu. There was a big sign for the new menu - Beef Tendon Curry. But silly me, without even looking at the menu properly, I ended up ordering the Beef Tail curry again. The Beef Tail curry is different from other curries as the chef cooks it separately in a pot, so it takes a bit longer to be served. I kept getting passed by other customers, but that's just how it goes. The Beef Tail Curry is priced at ¥880. The tail piece sits prominently on top like a mountain peak. Steam rises from the entire mountain, a hot active volcano. The bones are always included, but today it feels like there are more bones than usual. And the meat is hard to separate from the bones. I wish I had a knife, but there was no preparation for that. The tail meat is delicious but feels a bit scarce. The curry is a dark brown, almost black. Without the reflection of light, you can't really see the depth. It has a dark, bitter taste, a mature flavor. The soup-making seems to be based more on French cuisine rather than European. Considering the taste of the beef tail and curry soup, the price is reasonable. If you go to Asakusa, you'll find it at double the price. But considering the unlucky meat portion today, the Beef Tail curry was just right in terms of price. Thank you for the meal. Next time, I'll go for the Beef Tendon. I haven't tried the Beef Tongue yet, so I'll have to come back regularly.

It is located about a 5-minute walk from Jimbocho Station. I tried to go last week but it was closed, so I made a return visit. When it comes to curry, we often think of pork cutlet curry, so I naturally ordered the pork cutlet curry. The black curry sauce was impressive. The rice and curry had a very good balance and tasted delicious.

Curry town Kanda Jimbocho. Among the numerous curry restaurants competing for popularity in Jimbocho, my personal favorite is this place. I used to visit regularly in the past, but have been a little out of touch due to the pandemic. After much deliberation, I ordered the "Beef Tongue Curry". I always struggle because I also love the "Oxtail Curry". I opted for extra spiciness for an additional 50 yen. The curry, which has been well simmered and turned almost black-brown, has a rich flavor, and the beef tongue is tender. It was delicious as always. After finishing my meal, I noticed a new menu item written on the wall, "Beef Tendon Curry". I vowed in my heart to revisit soon.

I revisited the restaurant without delay since my last visit. I requested the oxtail curry, but unfortunately it was still being prepared. In the end, I ordered the same thing as last time - beef tongue curry with coleslaw salad (800 yen + 150 yen). After placing my order verbally, the food was served in 2-3 minutes. As expected, the service was fast and the curry was delicious and filling. I ate it in no time while keeping pace with the march music playing in the background. I definitely want to try the oxtail curry next time. I will be back again. Thank you for the meal!

During a business lunch in Chiyoda Ward, I visited a popular Western-style restaurant where I ordered the famous beef tongue curry I had seen on TV. The curry was served promptly and I was surprised to see it was pitch black. I was impressed by the unique European-style curry. It wasn't very spicy, but felt like something was missing. The beef tongue was incredibly tender, almost to the point where you didn't need teeth to chew it. It was clearly cooked with care and tasted delicious. Next time, I'll try the omurice or hayashi rice. Thank you for the meal.

Beef tongue curry with coleslaw salad (800 + 150) was served at the counter after ordering verbally, in about 2-3 minutes. The European-style curry, rich in flavor and depth, is well-spiced and not too spicy, yet it warms you up from the inside out and is incredibly delicious. The beef tongue pieces are generously sized, about three large pieces, providing a satisfying bite. The rice portion is generous, making it a great choice for hungry students in the neighborhood. Even rowdy office workers would be very satisfied. And all of this for ¥800, it's enough to bring tears to your eyes. The refreshing acidity of the coleslaw salad complements the dish perfectly. It was delicious - I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

A Western-style restaurant with amazing taste and cost performance, focusing on individual main dishes. The curry with plenty of beef tongue is only 800 yen and is a great deal. The flavor is not like cheap student lunches, but has a rich and deep taste. The rice portion is a normal serving of 300g, so if you add a cutlet it might feel a bit too filling, but the cutlet is thick and satisfying for only 400 yen. The interior of the restaurant is not particularly clean.

I had been wanting to eat beef tongue curry. There was a line of bento boxes at the storefront, and I thought there might be a queue, but it turned out the person who came out first had already paid. The restaurant was crowded inside, but there were a few empty seats. Since I was alone, I was seated at the counter. The age group seemed to be on the older side, and even though curry was at the top of the menu, the gentleman next to me was eating omurice. As soon as I sat down, I ordered the beef tongue curry. I checked the menu to see what else they had, but the curry arrived. It was a substantial portion of black curry, with several pieces of beef tongue on top. The rising steam looked really appetizing. The curry had a spicy flavor, with a strong pepper taste that built up in spiciness. The sauce had a good thickness, but it mixed well with the rice, making it quite smooth when mixed. The beef tongue was tender, easily cut with a spoon. It didn't melt in your mouth, but rather came apart easily. It was better to shred it and mix it with the curry before eating. The spiciness started to build up. It was more spicy than hot, and I started sweating. Luckily, there was a pitcher of water provided, which was a relief.

I was intrigued by the owner's previous experience with French cuisine and their comment that "game meat is delicious in French cuisine", so I decided to visit this popular Western-style restaurant. Upon entering and asking "Is it okay to sit here?", the owner glanced at me but didn't respond. When I asked again, they replied, "Please close the door", as the sliding door didn't automatically close. I ordered coleslaw salad, draft beer, and beef tongue curry. The curry plate arrived in just a few seconds. I couldn't help but exclaim, "That was fast!" The jet-black curry sauce reminded me of Kyoeido, and the generous portion was delightful. Upon tasting it, I found it to be a mild dish full of the umami of meat and vegetables. The beef tongue was not the melt-in-your-mouth type but had a firm texture with a good bite. It was packed with flavor. I wondered once again on my way back, why is the curry in Jimbocho of such high quality?

Here they take a little break at noon and then continue serving all day. When I visited in the evening, there were no customers, so I ordered the curry cutlet. There was a sign saying no smartphone use, so I waited a bit nervously. After about 5 minutes, my curry arrived. The black curry caught my eye, and the portion size was impressive. The regular size is 300g, you can get a large size for an extra 50 yen (400g), or even a special extra-large size for an extra 100 yen (500g). A student who came later ordered the special extra-large size, and it was a huge portion. The spiciness level is medium, but you can change it to spicy for an extra 50 yen. I was satisfied with the regular size and medium spiciness. The freshly fried cutlet was crispy and delicious. It's a great deal to enjoy a mild European-style curry at this price.

Yesterday, I went to Nile in Higashi-Ginza, but it was closed. I was very disappointed. Today, I'm going to have revenge curry in Jinbocho. Now, where should I go? I'm not a fan of Kyoeido Sumatra Curry. I don't dislike Bondi, but I'm not in the mood for it. Maybe I should go for Kitchen Nankai's black curry... or maybe it's still going to be Man-Ten. Hmm... I want to try somewhere new today, but where can I go? Oh, I know! How about Senda? It's an unexplored place. Senda, famous for its beef tongue curry. I arrived at Senda through Man-Ten before 1 pm on a weekday. I entered the shop smoothly. Without looking at the menu, I said, "Beef Tongue Curry!" The staff replied, "Sure, coming right up, beef tongue curry." So, I didn't even get a chance to look at the menu. The staff quickly served the curry in 30 seconds. It's true that it's just pouring the curry over the rice, so it's naturally fast, but I've never seen a place this fast. Well, let's put the menu aside... Now, the white rice comes with 300g as stated. It's a sufficient amount. The curry is not exactly black, but it's dark. How many pieces of beef tongue? There are a few big ones and several small ones. It's not a lot, but for 800 yen, it's enough. As for the taste, it's good. It's sufficiently delicious. I personally prefer a richer taste, so I feel it's slightly lacking, but it's still good. The cost performance is high. Definitely worth revisiting. Take your time to savor it and then I was surprised when I looked at the menu! Pork curry for 500 yen. Beef curry for 600 yen. Unbelievable prices considering the taste. There are many universities nearby. They would be delighted. Senda. I will not forget that name. Thank you. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

At 19:45 on a regular day, I rushed into the store before closing time and ordered the pork curry for 500 yen. I sat at the empty counter near the entrance, but was asked to move to a seat at the back. When I sat there, I was told to close the door myself as it was a door that needed to be closed. I apologized for my mistake. There was a sign prohibiting the use of mobile phones in the store. The owner and the lady seemed quite stubborn, but I didn't dislike them. It's an old-fashioned shop with a lot of history. Despite what some questionable reviewers have written about fruity sweetness, I didn't feel that at all. It's a simple, traditional curry that doesn't feel like a 500 yen dish, with good quality meat in it. Both this place and Iizaka-san's curry shop offer great value for money in Chiyoda Ward. The hamburger curry and pork cutlet curry are only 730 yen, which makes me worry about their profit margins. In a way, this place also represents the curry scene in Jimbocho. I hope they continue to do well. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The taste is definitely good. The portion is also generous, and you will feel full. It's a good place to go alone, but if you go with two or more people, it might be a bit tight. You might get scolded by the staff if you play with your phone or chat, so I think it's better not to go with friends. (Even speaking in a low voice, we were scolded, which made the atmosphere awkward with my friends.) I felt that they value focusing on and savoring the truly delicious food without being distracted by phones or conversations.

"Sendai" is a popular European-style curry restaurant in the competitive curry district of Kanda Jimbocho. You can enjoy authentic European-style curry at a reasonable price. The restaurant has about 11 counter seats and 4 window counter seats. I ordered the specialty "Beef Tongue Curry". The curry sauce is thick and black, covering the rice, with large chunks of soft beef tongue (about 4 pieces) mixed in. The curry sauce has a rich and deep flavor with a fruity sweetness and a hint of bitterness. It was delicious and affordable. - Restaurant Name: Sendai - Google Maps: Sendai (03-5577-4051) - Nearest Station: 5 minutes walk from Jimbocho Station (Toei Subway Mita Line, Shinjuku Line, Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line), 7 minutes walk from Suidobashi Station (JR Chuo Line, East Exit) - Distance from Jimbocho Station: 359m - Reservation: Not available - Number of Seats: 17 seats (counter seats only) - Budget: Up to 999 yen - Other Information: No private rooms, not available for private parties, all seats are non-smoking, no parking (coin parking nearby)

I couldn't understand the name of the restaurant at first, I thought it was "Senko" but maybe it's "Sendai"? I arrived around 12:30 pm and was able to get in without waiting in line. The menu mainly consists of black curry and Western dishes. I wanted to try both meat and curry, so I ordered the hamburger curry. After trying everything, I didn't feel much of the spiciness of the curry, it tasted more like stew. Maybe that's good in a way? The hamburger was covered in curry sauce, so the true flavor of the meat didn't stand out much. It might be better to serve the curry sauce on the side. The cost performance to survive in the fierce lunch battle zone is satisfactory. Some more improvements could be made. Also, the BGM playing a military march-like tune from start to finish might not be necessary for the atmosphere. A more elegant classical tune may suit better. I hope they consider this in the future.

On weekdays at 4:00 PM, I visited a long-established Western-style restaurant known for its delicious curry cutlet. The atmosphere was authentic and there was no wait. The portion of the cutlet was not huge, but it was priced around 800 yen (if I remember correctly), making it very cost-effective. The curry was a rich black curry with concentrated flavors. I requested extra spicy for an additional charge, and it was delicious.
