On New Year's Eve, I went out to Shinjuku and decided to dine at this restaurant. I had visited the annex on the 3rd floor before, but this time I went to the main building on the 8th floor. Despite it being New Year's Eve, they had weekday sets available. I chose the "Hokou" set which came with asparagus and shrimp. The set included 10 kinds of tempura, rice, egg, miso soup, small side dishes, and vegetable sticks. The tempura started with pork and they kept serving freshly fried tempura which was delicious. There were high-quality items like shrimp with shiso leaf and salmon with salmon roe, as well as classic options like konjac. The meal ended with asparagus wrapped in pork. The vegetable sticks, rice, and egg were also delicious, making it a satisfying lunch. The 3rd floor is a bit cramped, but the 8th floor provides a spacious and relaxing dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

After visiting the grave with my family, we all went to have lunch together. Since it was a holiday, we made a reservation online before heading to the restaurant. There was quite a line, so it was definitely the right decision. We ordered the lunch course and started with a bowl of rice topped with raw egg. The usual vegetable sticks were crunchy and delicious. I heard that rice refills were free, so I enjoyed the rice with the hot fried skewers bouncing off it. I wasn't sure where to put what on the plate, but I didn't worry about it. The last deep-fried asparagus was delicious and fluffy. Thank you for the delicious meal.

You can enjoy hot skewers and dessert at the counter. The shrimp is particularly plump and impressive. The price for lunch skewers is a bit high at around 3000 yen, but it's definitely worth a visit while shopping at Isetan.

Located in Shinjuku, Kushinobo is a popular restaurant known for its deep-fried skewers. Situated on the 3rd and 8th floors of the Shinjuku Isetan building, this restaurant has been a favorite spot for families to enjoy deep-fried skewers for a long time. The main branch is in Osaka, with over 10 locations across Japan. We opted for the chef's choice course, which includes a variety of skewers such as shrimp wrapped in perilla leaves, wagyu beef, crab and shiso rolls, stuffed shiitake mushrooms, and asparagus. The course also features seasonal items like corn and conger eel. After filling up on the course, we enjoyed desserts like black sugar jelly and kinako sticks. While there are trendy skewer restaurants popping up, Kushinobo's traditional and faithful approach to deep-fried skewers continues to impress with its delicious offerings. The restaurant also offers a wide selection of drinks, especially a variety of shochu, which is generously poured.

If you happen to visit Isetan, this is a great place to enjoy casual tempura skewers. You can usually get in without waiting, even on holidays without a reservation. It's good value for money, has a nice atmosphere, and you can enjoy freshly fried tempura skewers. The black sugar jelly dessert is also delicious.

This well-known restaurant specializes in deep-fried skewers. I ordered the omakase course as usual this time. The skewers keep coming until you say stop, but this time I was quite full relatively quickly. Everything is delicious, but my personal favorite is the crab and kiss roll. Also, the green onion vegetable stick that comes out one by one at the beginning is great. I feel like I could drink forever with that as a snack. They have a wide variety of drinks, making it a perfect place for dates or business entertainment. When it comes to eating skewers, this place always comes to mind. Highly recommended.

It was really delicious! There were about 40 different kinds of skewers that day, and I couldn't conquer them all. Each skewer was creatively made, and the asparagus skewer was especially surprising. The staff were calm and many were elegant, making it a classy restaurant. I would like to visit again.

I went to Kushino Bo at Isetan Kaikan for the first time in a while. I always end up eating too much because I can't stop thinking about the next skewer. Some of my favorite skewers are crab wrapped in egg, shrimp, herring roe with eggs, spicy cod roe, and young corn. There are quite a few options to choose from. They also have a great selection of sake. Thank you for the meal.

It's a small and cozy shop, but you can feel the owner's dedication throughout. It's a great place! Definitely worth a visit! The deep-fried skewers were delicious at a good pace, especially the asparagus which was large and satisfying. The way they display the skewers is interesting. I would love to come back if I have the chance.

I visited the restaurant for lunch. A colleague used to come here often, so I wanted to try it too. I finally had the chance to come. I sat at the counter and ordered the 2890 yen lunch menu. It included fresh vegetables like cabbage, and 10 kinds of deep-fried skewers with rice. The skewers were shrimp, asparagus, scallop, konjac, and black wagyu beef, among others. The batter was light, so I could eat as much as I wanted without feeling heavy. Each skewer was small, so even though there were 10, they weren't too filling. The asparagus was interesting because it was fried whole, so I ate it while holding it. For the rice, I chose ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it). It came with hojicha tea, rice cracker topping, salted seaweed, sardine simmered in soy sauce, and sesame seeds, so I could customize the flavor. The salty taste of the salted seaweed added a nice touch. The skewers were served freshly fried at the counter, so everything was warm and delicious. I would definitely like to visit again.

Today, I went out to eat with my baby. My son, who had disappointing test results, stayed home. We went to "Kushi no Bo" in Shinjuku Isetan. I've been here many times, but it's seriously delicious! The crispy coating with juicy fillings is amazing! My favorite is the mentaiko (spicy cod roe) wrapped in chicken. I also enjoyed the crab and shiitake mushroom skewers. The staff are polite and the skewers are delicious. It was a very satisfying experience! But I'm sorry to the staff, I only ordered oolong tea. I have strict rules against alcohol consumption.

When I was young, I used to be taken to the Shinjuku Isetan Kaikan branch of "Kushinobo" by a certain department store manager. I recently went there after a long time and the facade of the store, atmosphere, and tableware have not changed at all, which in a good way gives off a nostalgic adult vibe! ^^ I made a reservation for a counter seat on the day. The contents of the "Assorted Kushikatsu" were as follows, for reference:
—————————————————————
1) Purple shiso-wrapped domestic turf prawn
2) Black Wagyu beef
3) Shrimp mince stuffed shiitake mushroom
4) King crab and kiss fish roll
5) Potato bacon
6) Tuna with grated yam
7) Curry mince stuffed lotus root
8) Tsubugai shellfish
9) Green asparagus tempura
10) Live spot prawn
11) Chicken and celery
12) Butterbur
13) Octopus
14) Grated yam wrapped in bamboo leaf
15) Oyster
16) Snow pea
Dessert) Brown sugar jelly, sweet stick
—————————————————————
Drinks) 2 bottles of Ebisu beer
I had a total of 16 pieces of kushikatsu this time. I occasionally eat Kushinobo-style kushikatsu, but this restaurant generally fries at high temperatures. The Wagyu beef and octopus were slightly shrunk, but the tuna with grated yam and tsubugai were delicious, making the beer go down smoothly! It's a great restaurant.

Light, delicious, and satisfying. This restaurant is all about enjoying food until you're full! They have a wide variety of drinks as well. This time, we managed to try 22 different dishes! I pushed myself to see how far I could go... but ended up reaching my limit. (laughs) The classics were as expected, but even simple dishes like yam were filled with surprises - like being sandwiched with fish or accented with ginkgo nuts and bacon. Among the surprises, the kombu seaweed with crab was especially delicious. Even though I ate so much, I could keep eating because the food wasn't heavy and it was just so tasty. The fish also seems to be saying it's full too.

I have a memory of going to Kushino Bo in Minami, Osaka over 30 years ago. It was a night seat, so the course seemed to be continuous until you said stop and the kushikatsu kept coming. Today, I had the "Shiosai" kushikatsu set with eight varieties for 2200 yen for lunch. I selected the "Tamagokake Gohan set" for rice. The fried skewers are served on the counter. They are brought out in order to match the timing of when you are eating, so it progresses smoothly. The pumpkin, pork, shrimp, asparagus, konnyaku, and others were all delicious with their exquisite frying methods. The vegetables, like cabbage with salt and white sesame, balanced well with the skewers. The Tamagokake Gohan was also delicious. I would like to try the obuzuke next time. Even though it was lunch, the slightly dimmed lighting made me feel like having some alcohol. (laughs)

Taste: Excellent
Atmosphere: Excellent
It was my first visit to Shinjuku after visiting a few times in Osaka, which was over 20 years ago. I visited without a reservation. The restaurant is located on the 8th floor of the Isetan building, where there is also a photography gallery. The restaurant has a luxurious feel to it. On weekdays, the table seats were fully booked, but I was able to sit at the counter. When it comes to enjoying freshly fried kushikatsu, sitting at the counter is the way to go. The restaurant provides original pottery for dishes and skewers, which adds to the charm of the place. I started with a refreshing Asahi Super Dry beer, which was delicious. I opted for the 12-piece kushikatsu course for 4000 yen, which included items like pork with green onion, shrimp with perilla leaf, sea urchin, asparagus, and shiitake mushrooms, all of which were delicious. After finishing the 12 skewers, I added 3 more - cheese, pork, and kombu with fish roe, all of which were expertly prepared and tasty. I also enjoyed two cups of sake. It was a satisfying evening at a very good restaurant.

I visited Kushi no Bo in Shinjuku Isetan Kaikan store on the 3rd floor with my friends for a New Year's party. It was our first time at this location, although we have been to the ones in Roppongi and Ebisu before. We decided to go with the usual course menu, which we found to be just the right amount and satisfying in the past. We started with vegetable sticks. The order included a variety of items, but our go-to choice is always the following: ★Kushiage Okimari Sansan Twelve Assortment 4,400 yen ★Tamago Kake Gohan Set 770 yen, including red miso soup, tsukemono, and dessert with mizugashi and amagashi sticks. The Kushiage assortment included two pieces each of twelve different items such as shrimp with shiso, beef, shiitake mushroom, crab roll, tarako, ginnan, chicken, kisu fish, lotus root with curry flavor, tsubugai, shrimp, and asparagus. Each piece was freshly fried and served hot, with a crispy coating and flavorful ingredients inside. Despite being fried, the dishes felt healthy, perhaps due to the variety of fish and vegetables. After enjoying all twelve items, we always finish with the Tamago Kake Gohan Set, which comes with red miso soup, tsukemono, and pickles. The egg from Kushi no Bo is delicious, making the egg over rice a luxurious and satisfying end to the meal. We also enjoyed the dessert and left the restaurant feeling satisfied. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff was friendly, allowing us to fully enjoy the delicious kushiage. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to kushikatsu in the Shinjuku area, I think of Kushino Bo and Tatsukichi. Kushino Bo is a bit pricier, requires reservations, and has a more calm atmosphere, while Tatsukichi is counter seating only with no reservations. When I tried to visit Kushino Bo in the evening, the reservation slots were full, so I hurried to Tatsukichi. I was told there was a 1.5-hour wait, so I rushed to try my luck at Kushino Bo's same-day availability. Luckily, I managed to snag a spot at the counter. The atmosphere was great for kushikatsu. I ordered omakase and started with a draft beer before moving on to a bottle of white wine. The shrimp-wrapped in shiso, carabinero, and asparagus were delicious. I stopped at nine skewers and added some kombu with herring roe and lotus root. The beef skewer was just okay. The potatoes were decent, but quite filling. The crab was also tasty! Overall, I was satisfied.

I used to always visit this restaurant when I went to Shinjuku. It's been a while since my last visit, about 3 years. I ordered the usual chef's choice course. Started with a toast with a draft beer, followed by ordering Jukichi sake. I enjoyed the usual deep-fried skewers like asparagus, shrimp, and kisu. Thank you for the meal.

Meeting with friends today. We went to Kushino Bosan and had a delicious meal while having a meeting. We left it up to the chef to fry up some dishes, filled our stomachs, and leisurely drank. Forgot to take any photos, but didn't forget the ochazuke (tea poured over rice). Once again, we were impressed. It was a great feast with the enjoyment of changing flavors. We'll definitely come back again.

Located next to Kushi no Bo Isetan in Shinjuku Isetan Hall, on the 3rd and 8th floors, this tempura restaurant is part of a chain with its main store in Osaka and over 10 locations nationwide. My family has been coming here for years whenever we crave tempura. After a long hiatus of about 2-3 years, I finally revisited. This time, I opted for the omakase course (stop system when you're full). I started by arranging the sauces on my plate and enjoying the initial serving of vegetables. Then, I had a plum wine aperitif before the course began. The meal included classic items like crab and shiso rolls, shrimp, and large asparagus. After stopping, I had coffee jelly and a kankan stick. While there are trendy tempura restaurants popping up, I still appreciate the simple, traditional tempura served here.

My favorite skewer specialty shop "Kushi no Bo" ❤️ I always visit it when I go to Shinjuku Isetan. lol I usually go for the omakase course at night, so I just let them know what I don't like and leave the rest to them ☺️ Everything is so delicious that I end up eating too much... My favorites are the child kombu and kachokabaro cheese skewers ❤️ Lately, I've been hooked on the obuzuke set! I'm a food fighter who ends up getting seconds of rice! (rice, kombu tea pickles set)
