It's always a delight to find soup curry places in the stamp rally, and Kamui 2nd Branch is no exception. Located on Akihabara's Junk Street, it's a hub for Akihabara culture, with a high percentage of Akihabara-themed customers. I ordered the Chicken Vegetable Curry with added Camembert cheese. The soup curry here is a classic with a rich and flavorful broth unique to Kamui. The spice level 3 was milder than expected, so I might go for a higher level next time. The second store, Shin Kamui, opened in April 2023 on the third floor of a building along Junk Street in Akihabara, where DENIZ TURKISH CAFE & BAR is located. The third-floor interior of the store is entertainment-focused, with a permanent stage and in-store live performances. I visited around 8 p.m. and the store was very lively. The male staff member told me it would take about 30 minutes, so I decided to wait patiently. I ordered the most popular Chicken Vegetable Curry (1,210 yen) in a regular size (200g) with spice level 3. I also ordered a beer (500 yen). The ordering process was done through a QR code on my smartphone, and I chose to pay with PayPay. The beer came in a small glass of Sapporo Black Label. The Chicken Vegetable Curry arrived a bit earlier than expected, in about 25 minutes. The soup curry was light and filled with plenty of vegetables. The broccoli had a good crunch, the Italian tomatoes were soft, the carrots were just right, and there were bell peppers and tender chicken. The curry had a rich and mildly spicy flavor. As always, Kamui's soup curry was delicious. It's still my favorite.

I had a special curry menu for that day with plenty of ingredients. It was quite extravagant with deep-fried vegetables, pork, beef, and more. I enjoyed it with a glass of beer. It was quite generous in portion size and I was very satisfied with the dish.

I visited the restaurant for lunch on a Sunday when I had to work. This was my first time at the second branch. I arrived at the building at 1:10 PM and took the elevator to the third floor. There were 9 people already there. I was seated at a table for 4 and scanned the QR code on the table with my phone to check the menu. I ordered the pork vegetable curry (with rice) for 1,265 yen, with a spice level of 3 and less rice (150g). I placed the order and paid with my phone. I realized I didn't need 150g of rice, so I asked for half the amount after placing the order. The rice arrived in 10 minutes, and they asked if I needed a paper apron, to which I said yes. Shortly after, they brought the soup. The soup had a lot of pork fat floating on the surface. It was mildly spicy as it was the free level 3 spice. The soup was like a light minestrone with an oily finish. It had large pieces of pork, eggplant, bell pepper, four broccoli florets, carrot, and two Italian tomatoes. The Italian tomatoes were as good as always. The pork was tasty, but I prefer the chicken as the soup tends to get oily with pork. I alternated between the soup and rice and finished everything. I only recently found out that the second store was located in Akihabara's electric town. I ordered the collaboration menu, Hokkaido White Stew with Cheddar Cheese on Rice (2000 yen). You may wonder why I'm eating stew and rice at a soup curry restaurant, but it's because it's a collaboration menu with my favorite sexy actress, Mio Ichijo. She is from Hokkaido, and apparently the dairy industry there is struggling, so this collaboration menu uses a lot of milk. The rice portion was free to upsize, so I got a large portion, which was quite filling. The stew was delicious, and the cheese on top of the rice paired perfectly with it. I rarely have the opportunity to eat stew at restaurants, and the combination of stew and rice was a fresh experience for me. I initially planned to just have a meal and leave, but I felt it would be a waste to go home without talking to my admired actress. I arrived on a weekday night around 8 pm, with only one couple as the first customers, but more customers arrived every 5 minutes or so. There were many middle-aged men dining alone, which might require some courage to enter... The staff consisted of only two men, which made it a bit easier... The ordering system here is somewhat unique. There are no menus available, so you have to scan a QR code to see the menu and make payments there as well. Payment can be made with credit cards or PayPay, etc. I decided to order the "Chicken Vegetable Curry," which was labeled as the most popular item. After a short wait of about 10 minutes, the curry arrived. The appearance was similar to the first branch... but it seemed a bit more luxurious than the last time I visited the first branch... The soup curry at this shop has a strong tomato base, which I love, and this time it felt even stronger with two whole tomatoes in it... I ordered it spicy, and it was just perfect! The toppings here are characterized by large cuts. The vegetables are not deep-fried, allowing the natural flavors of the ingredients to shine through. Underneath, there was tender chicken!
