When it comes to feathered dumplings, Niihao, Hoanyon, and Kinchun in Kamata are known as the three major dumplings. I have eaten at these places 15 years ago. I made a reservation for Hoanyon at an offline meeting, and I was able to eat at Kinchun without waiting in line. However, I couldn't make it to the original feathered dumplings at Niihao due to the long queue. I heard that Niihao opened a branch near my workplace in Kanda, so I decided to give it a try. The location was in the basement just off Nihon-dori from the south exit of JR Kanda Station. There was a portrait of Koji Yagi, who invented the feathered dumplings, on the wall of the staircase, with the "Secret Story of the Birth of Feathered Dumplings" written next to it. The interior of the restaurant seemed to be renovated from a Chinese restaurant, with about 14 four-person tables. The staff, both in the kitchen and on the floor, all seemed to be from mainland China. The lunch menu included a set meal with 10 original feathered dumplings and rice for 850 yen, a set meal with 5 dumplings and ramen or fried rice for 880 yen, and a set meal with mapo tofu donburi for 900 yen. Noodle dishes and half-fried rice sets were priced at 750 yen. The regular Chinese restaurant set meals ranged from 780 yen to 800 yen. I wished there was a set meal with dumplings, but since there wasn't, I ordered a set of dumplings and fried rice, which arrived in 3 minutes. The five dumplings were placed on a plate, each wrapped in a square-shaped feather. As soon as I took a bite, I realized they were cold and soggy! It seemed like they were pre-cooked and left out. When I tried to bite into one, the juices splattered out, leaving a stain on my pants. Three minutes later, the fried rice was served, and I was surprised by its appearance. It contained frozen vegetables like carrots, corn, and green peas, along with chunks of solidified egg and finely chopped roast pork. The rice was far from fluffy and not even slightly moist, with a sticky texture. The taste of the dumplings was decent, but being cold ruined it, and the fried rice was the worst I've ever had in my life.

Located just a short walk from the south exit of Kanda Station, this Chinese restaurant on Nihonbashi-dori is known for its signature dish of wing-tipped dumplings. The entrance is decorated with magazine clippings and photos of celebrities who have dined there. Despite the tempting dumplings, I decided to try their noodles instead. I ordered the Taiwan noodles for 750 yen (tax included). During lunchtime, all noodle dishes, fried rice, and rice bowl dishes are priced at 750 yen. Set meals are mostly 780 yen, with the famous wing-tipped dumpling set priced at 850 yen. The prices are quite reasonable for a central location in Tokyo, and the menu is extensive. The noodles were curly and served in a light soy sauce broth with minced meat, chives, and bean sprouts. The flavors blended well together, earning a pass in terms of taste. Unfortunately, while the wing-tipped dumpling set was quickly served, I had to wait over 20 minutes for my noodles, which was a downside in terms of service.

I visited a Chinese restaurant in the underground for the first time. I used to pass by it before, but I didn't realize it was underground, so it was a bit surprising. I ordered the lettuce fried rice set for 750 yen. The fried rice had a lot of green peas in it, which I didn't like! It might be good for people who like green peas, but if you don't like them, it's a bit of a downside. However, the conversation was interesting, so it was okay!

At the location where the Bank of Japan Street meets, the famous original "Nihao" Gyoza from Kamata has opened its doors. As I was taking a photo of the various media coverage displayed on the wall of the staircase leading down to the basement, I heard the sound of the doorbell ringing inside the store. Ignoring it, I continued taking photos until the staff lady came to check on the doorbell. I was seated at a table for four and ordered the Gyoza with wings + Ramen set (880 yen). The Ramen was served first, topped with a slice of char siu, menma, leeks, and green onions. The noodles were thick and chewy with a great texture, and the soup had a nostalgic flavor that I personally enjoyed. However, the portion seemed a bit small due to it being a set. The Gyoza with wings arrived later, with neatly arranged wings and a simple dipping sauce made from soy sauce, vinegar, and pepper. The filling was a bit light with a juicy burst, and the skin was chewy. While tasty, I felt that it lacked the special touch that would make it stand out as the original. The pickled vegetables were average, but the almond jelly was rich and delicious. Overall, I found the Ramen more enjoyable than the Gyoza, so I felt that the noodle dishes might be the highlight of the menu. I look forward to trying the Five-Ingredient Soup Noodles and Five-Ingredient Ankake Yakisoba next time. Payment with PayPay is accepted. Good luck in Kanda. Thank you for the meal.

Tokyo Nihonbashi Kajicho "Ni Hao Kanda Store" I visited the newly opened dumpling restaurant "Ni Hao" this year, which I had enjoyed in Kamata before, for dinner and lunch. First, I had the "Wing-Tip Gyoza (¥300)" with a toast of Zmaltz, and it was delicious. I also enjoyed the "Char Siu Black Fried Rice (¥780)" and the "Cantonese Noodles (¥800)" in the evening. On a separate day, I visited for lunch and had the "Wing-Tip Gyoza + Fried Rice (¥880)" and the "Wing-Tip Gyoza + Ramen (¥880)", which were also delicious. This time, I enjoyed the delicious wing-tip gyoza and beer at Ni Hao, savoring the good food and drink. (laughs)

Ni Hao Kanda store, which appeared on Nihon-dori in Kanda. This place is famous for its winged gyoza. Although it is not featured on the official website for some reason, it is currently open for business. I visited around 11 am, shortly after it opened, and found the restaurant empty. I ordered the lunch menu item "Winged Gyoza + Fried Rice / 880 yen." The dish arrived with 5 pieces of winged gyoza and half a serving of fried rice. I mistakenly thought it was a regular size fried rice, but it turned out to be a smaller portion. It would have been helpful if they had clearly labeled it as "half fried rice" on the menu. Despite this, I enjoyed the juicy gyoza with a nice crispy texture and the slightly oily fried rice. I left the almond jelly untouched and finished my meal feeling satisfied, but not enough to want to return.

I visited the restaurant on Thursday after 3 pm, but there were no customers. I suddenly felt like eating fried rice, and the only options nearby at this time were here or Nichi Highya, so I came here without hesitation. The fried rice and dumpling set for 880 yen is a good deal. The dumplings are the usual chewy kind, but the fried rice is really good. It's a convenient restaurant to have around.

I visited the restaurant around 1:20 PM on Wednesday and there were 3 customers already seated and 3 more came in after me. I was able to quickly find a table. They have a wide variety of set meals which made me happy because there aren't many good Chinese restaurants in this area. I ordered my favorite stir-fried pork with wood ear mushrooms and egg set meal along with their famous pan-fried dumplings. The dumplings had a chewy texture but the crispy exterior was unexpected. They were just average. However, the stir-fried pork with wood ear mushrooms and egg was flavorful and had plenty of pork which I really liked. If I crave Chinese food like sweet and sour pork or black vinegar pork in the future, I would like to come back here.

The Chinese restaurant Kin'en, located in the basement on the left side of Nihon-dori after entering from the south exit of JR Kanda Station, has now become Ni Hao Kanda. The logo features the famous Kamata-style original feathered gyoza, with a portrait of Koki Yagi and a story about the birth of feathered gyoza. Inside, there are about 14 tables for four people each, with Chinese female staff managing the hall. Orders are placed using a tablet on the table. During the half-price opening campaign, I enjoyed a Premium Malt's beer, Liver and Garlic Chives Stir-Fry, and Feathered Gyoza. The feathered gyoza lacked a crispy texture on the feathers, but the filling was juicy and flavorful. Overall, I had a great time trying out the new feathered gyoza at Ni Hao.

The dumplings are popular, with a chewy skin like water dumplings and filled with juicy meat. The restaurant is located underground and spacious. The lunch sets are generous, and you get a free refill of rice. Everything is delicious, but my favorites are the drooling chicken and the stir-fried noodles with thick sauce.

The filling tasted good, but the noodles were mushy and lacked a crispy texture. The +250 yen fried rice was more like a pilaf with corn, green peas, carrots, and roasted pork. I won't be coming back.
