Heikyuuden is a Kyoto restaurant, right? My family bought warabimochi at the Tamagawa Takashimaya store for me. I had this image that Kyoto warabimochi would have a chewy texture, but this one was actually very soft and gooey. It was also black in color.

I always go for a safe choice when it comes to souvenirs. Today, I tried the limited edition "Yoru Sakura" until the end of April. It was beautiful, moist, with a subtle elegant sweetness. I felt happiness as I experienced the beauty with all my senses. It needs to be refrigerated so it's not suitable for business souvenirs, but perfect to enjoy with friends who love Japanese sweets!

★Why not visit a cafe nearby where you can enjoy the atmosphere of the American West Coast? For more details, please see the following blog article: https://katsuq.com/blog-entry-547.html After dining at a stylish cafe nearby (refer to the opening blog article), I went to "Wakuden" in the basement of Takashimaya Tamagawa. In the basement of Takashimaya Tamagawa, there are many delicious Japanese sweets, and among them, I purchased "Sasa Hotaru" (including tax, 2,484 yen), "Saiko" (sold individually, 324 yen), and the Takashimaya store limited edition "Warabi Mochi" (1,620 yen). The photo below is of "Sasa Hotaru." It is a sweet inspired by firefly hunting, with a jelly of roasted green tea on a dough of matcha and white beans, resembling the light of a firefly. The photo below is of "Saiko." It is made by wrapping lotus flour, a starch from lotus root, in two sheets of fresh bamboo leaves using Japanese sugar and sugar syrup. Lastly, the "Warabi Mochi" is made from genuine bracken flour kneaded with Japanese sugar. ★This review is based on the opening blog article.

I arranged a gift at "Shino Wakuden" in Takashimaya Tamagawa, and bought home desserts♪ Shino Wakuden is a famous Kyoto ryotei, and Shino Wakuden is a shop where you can buy gifts from Wakuden. I had seen the "Lotus Root Sweets Nishiko" a few times while looking for recommended souvenirs, but since it needs to be refrigerated and doesn't last long, I didn't have the opportunity to try it. There is a product called "Lotus Mochi" which is a little firmer than "Nishiko" and can be stored at room temperature, so I decided to use it as a gift this time (^^*) + I also bought refrigerated items to enjoy at home. [Items purchased] Lotus Root Sweets Nishiko Individual sale 1 piece 324 yen * Refrigerated Sasanoka Sweets Harushizuku Individual sale 1 piece 378 yen * Refrigerated Wataboushi 2 pieces 1080 yen * Refrigerated Gift (Lotus Mochi and Crab Senbei) * Can be stored at room temperature Lotus Root Sweets Nishiko A famous sweet from Wakuden. A chewy sweet made from lotus flour and Japanese sugar wrapped in bamboo leaves. It has a unique texture that is chewy but slightly sticky, and has a sophisticated flavor that makes you want to try it again. I'm not sure if this is the flavor of lotus root, but it has a refined taste that makes you want to have more! Sasanoka Sweets Harushizuku A seasonal bamboo leaf scented sweet made from arrowroot powder. The texture is common. This may be a sweet to enjoy the scent of the season. It is pink and has a faint cherry blossom flavor, giving it a spring scent. I ate this first, so I thought that the texture of Nishiko was more ordinary than I thought, but when I tried Nishiko later, I understood it. It's not a Western Lake flavor version, but the raw materials are different. Wataboushi Wataboushi refers to the cute hat worn over a white kimono. This sweet is inspired by a bride's wataboushi, with a white mochi covered in seasonal flavors. In spring, it is made with green young peaches. The green young peaches are wrapped in peach-colored anko, and the appearance is beautiful. This is delicious...! It's quite an expensive sweet at 500 yen each, but I would love to try the ones from other seasons as well. I love anko. Lotus Mochi and Crab Senbei I haven't tried them, but I sent them as gifts♪ Both are rare sweets at Wakuden that can be stored at room temperature. Lotus Mochi is a Japanese sweet made from lotus flour extracted from lotus roots. Recommended for those who want to send Nishiko but are unsure if it's suitable as a gift. It is said to be slightly firmer than Nishiko. As for the Crab Senbei, according to reviews, it has a subtle crab flavor but is quite elegant and delicious. I will definitely come back to buy more!

It's been a while since I visited Futakotamagawa. The cafe I was aiming for was super crowded, so I decided to wander around Takashimaya in Tamagawa. As I passed by Murasaki Wakuden, I thought about buying some sweets to take home. Even though it's located in a department store, this place has a different atmosphere. It feels very refined. As I looked around the store, I saw their famous warabi mochi displayed at the front. In Tokyo, you can enjoy freshly made warabi mochi at their Marunouchi store, but here they were selling it as a takeout item. From January 18th (Thursday) to 21st (Sunday), Murasaki Wakuden in Futakotamagawa is offering a limited edition "Special Days" menu featuring their signature warabi mochi. I was feeling down after missing out on my original destination, but my mood instantly lifted! I bought some warabi mochi along with other sweets to take home. - Warabi Mochi (1620 yen) ★3.8 It comes with kinako powder sprinkled on top, and extra kinako on the side. It doesn't come with black honey, but the sweetness is mild with refined wasanbon sugar. The cool, jelly-like texture of the warabi mochi with the kinako flavor gradually seeping through was delightful. It was a very elegant tasting warabi mochi. While it may not compare to the freshly made ones you can get at cafes in Kyoto or Tokyo, it was still a valuable experience. - Sasa Warabi (378 yen) ★3.8 The warabi mochi has a bouncy, jelly-like texture. It has a cool sensation in the mouth, and the elegant sweetness of wasanbon sugar adds a touch of sophistication. The solemn flavor of the bamboo leaf at the end ties everything together in a refined way. - Seiko (324 yen) ★3.8 A simple dish made with lotus flour and wasanbon sugar. The texture is softer compared to the Sasa Warabi mentioned earlier, but it still has a subtle firmness. The main flavor comes from the red bean, with a hint of sweetness from the sugar added later. Despite its simplicity, it has a deep and satisfying taste that doesn't get boring. Thank you for the meal.

I went to Tamagawa Takashimaya for their Special Days event. I was there to try the limited edition Warabi Mochi from Murano Kazuhisa. The smooth and slippery texture of the mochi is excellent for swallowing. The mochi itself has a subtle sweetness, so the balance with the barely sweet kinako powder is exquisite. The kinako powder has a very fragrant and delicious flavor. Just the aroma alone makes it possible to enjoy a cup of tea in a luxurious way.

I purchased West Lake and Kisui (limited to summer) and they were delicious. The sweetness of wasanbon and the chewy texture were very tasty. Kisui has a subtle apple flavor, or rather, it has a refreshing taste with the scent of bamboo leaves more than West Lake. It became a stylish snack.

(⌒-⌒) Blog ⇒ [Riding on Flowing Clouds♪] This is 'Shinno Wakuden' located in the basement of Tamagawa Takashimaya. As you would expect, there are various food stores lined up here. Despite being a food store, being in a department store basement gives off a certain level of luxury. Among them, this place stands out with its luxurious atmosphere. Originally a Kyoto restaurant, it naturally exudes a sense of high-class. The products here are also high-end. The refined atmosphere makes you almost forget that you are in a department store basement. I visited this place to celebrate a relative's recovery. Although the variety is not extensive, I found myself spoilt for choice. When in doubt, it's a good idea to consult with the staff. They have extensive product knowledge and will surely be helpful. I also sought advice on what to include in a gift set. In the end, I chose a set of simmered soft-shelled turtle, herring roe, winter mushroom, each priced at 1000 yen, plus a box fee of 300 yen, shipping fee of 800 yen, and tax, totaling 4428 yen. While the packaging and shipping arrangements were being made, they served me a ginger soup base diluted with water, like a chilled sweet drink. It had an elegant taste and is perfect for the upcoming hot season! In winter, you can enjoy it diluted with hot water like a sweet drink, making it a must-have for every household. I often use this as a gift or for elderly people. The scent of the West Lake bamboo leaf gives a refreshing aftertaste. It's not too sweet, made with minimal ingredients like Japanese sugar and lotus flour, so the simple taste is well-received by recipients. It's soft, making it easy to eat for young children or those with weak teeth. It's made from water plantain, which the staff explained to me, but I didn't quite catch it as I was a bit overwhelmed with today's gifts. I included some sweet simmered ayu fish for one person, and they called to say it was a big hit! I bought one for my mother at home, but she didn't leave a single bite, it was that soft and delicious. The staff were polite and pleasant. If you want to buy the West Lake product, go early as it tends to sell out quickly due to being featured in magazines and on TV. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

【Reason for Visit】I came nearby, so I decided to research a famous restaurant.【Atmosphere】The store is located on the B1 floor of Takashimaya, just a 5-minute walk from the station.【Taste】When you hold it in your hand, it feels like agar jelly, gummy candy, or konjac due to its flexible and translucent texture. When you eat it, it has a slightly firmer texture than warabi mochi, with a hint of soft sweetness. It is smooth and has a pleasant mouthfeel. It's definitely a treat to enjoy slightly chilled in the summer. I enjoyed it. Rating: 3.5 out of 5 (average rating: 3)【Additional Note】These types of treats are best enjoyed in an elegant setting; otherwise, the appreciation may be reduced.【Overall Impression】It's a summer dessert, isn't it?

2014.7.19 - Good naming sense too ○ I received this treat for the first time in a year since I bought it at Isetan Shinjuku last year. Sasahotaru (around 2000 yen) - I wonder who came up with this snack. Unfortunately, I couldn't take a good picture, but when you thinly slice it and let the light pass through, it gives off the atmosphere of a firefly resting on a bamboo leaf. A cool breeze blows through your mind♪ The white bean paste flavored with matcha is delicious. The hojicha flavored jelly is delicious too. Furthermore, chilling it well in the refrigerator and eating it immediately after taking it out is the best way to enjoy it!!! When it's ice-cold, the texture of the hojicha jelly changes from bouncy to crunchy!! It's like it bursts in your mouth♪ Overall: It's not often that you feel so refreshed while eating a dessert♪

In February 2014, I revisited this place after a long time in search of a suitable gift. For the gift, I chose the finest type of dried small fish with prickly ash from here, and also bought various items for home use and Valentine's Day. As always, I couldn't resist the tempting chilled confection "Seiko" with a unique texture of lotus root, elegant taste of wasanbon sugar, and refreshing aroma of bamboo leaf. Once you try it, you'll definitely get hooked on it. I also found a seasonal product called "Yuzu Chocolates" with yuzu peel covered in bitter chocolate and scented with kabosu fruit juice, perfect for adults even with alcohol. Another item was "Mackerel Heshiko and Black Soybean Furikake", combining the fragrant black soybeans with the slightly unique flavor of Wakasa's specialty mackerel heshiko on top of white rice. It's amazing how a product like heshiko can transform into such an elegant dish in the hands of a famous restaurant. I always feel like visiting this shop to see what's new each season. In the basement of the department store, this corner exudes the elegance of Kyoto. The most popular item at Wakuden is undoubtedly the "Seiko". The unique texture of the firm lotus root, the refined sweetness of wasanbon, the aroma of bamboo leaves, and the perfect size all exude sophistication and originality. When I used to travel to Kyoto, I always bought it at Isetan's basement in the station. Since the shop opened in the basement of Takashimaya Tamagawa, I have been buying it here. When I was single, I used to enjoy devouring five pieces all by myself... The only downside is that they don't last long, making it slightly inconvenient as a gift. However, not only "Seiko", but also the "seasonal gifts" displayed in the store are all so elegant and refined that it's almost a waste to eat them, and the recipients of these gifts are always delighted.

I received a delicious Japanese sweet as a gift. It's called "Saiho" from the famous Wagashi brand Wakuden. It is made from lotus root starch and wasanbon sugar, making it a gentle and refreshing sweet. The smooth and cool texture is perfect for hot summer days. The sweetness is just right. It is recommended to enjoy it chilled. Wakuden is a long-established traditional Japanese restaurant in Kyoto. You can purchase Saiho at their main store in Kyoto, as well as at their branches in Marunouchi, Shinjuku Isetan, and Ginza Matsuya in Tokyo.

When it comes to summer sweets from Murasakino Kazuhisa, it's definitely the lotus root confection "Nishiko." I've been wanting to try it once after seeing it in magazines, on TV, and online. Finally got my hands on it~♪ I'll chill it in the fridge for a bit before enjoying. The ingredients are simple: "lotus root powder, wasanbon (Japanese sugar), wasanbon syrup, sweetener." The sweetener is definitely necessary. I love the jelly-like texture. It moves around in my mouth, making me want it to stay there forever, but it slips smoothly down my throat. Ah~ so delicious!! I could easily eat at least 3 of these. No, 5!! No~ 10 of them. It's so delicious that I definitely want to get my hands on it again this summer. Thank you for the treat.

Whenever I passed by the store, I always wondered "What kind of store is this?" It seemed upscale and empty, making it intimidating to enter. While browsing through Kyoto restaurants on Tabelog, I came across the same store name that had piqued my curiosity before. I realized, "Ah, it's a famous store in Kyoto!" I shared this with my husband, and we decided to take a peek inside. I didn't check the reviews on Tabelog, so I didn't know that Nishiko was famous for its sweets. I ended up buying the Daio-Naen and Hamo Ume Okaki, both of which I liked. The Hamo Ume Okaki had a nice touch of sour plum flavor with hamo powder, and the Daio-Naen was a refined sweet red bean soup with large Daio-Naen beans. They were both delicious, but at 10 pieces for 1000 yen, the Okaki felt a bit pricey for its small size. The Daio-Naen, at 735 yen for a small bowl, also seemed a bit expensive. We also enjoyed some of Kawakatsu's Shibazuke and Suguki as a snack. The taste was great, but I found the prices a little high, which made it hard for me to try more of their traditional sweets and side dishes. If the prices were a bit more reasonable, I would have been more inclined to purchase more.

Located in the basement of Takashimaya Department Store in Futako-Tamagawa, Shino Wakuden is a specialty store that offers a variety of traditional Japanese sweets and dishes. While there are a few seats available for dining in, this review focuses solely on the taste of the food for takeout. The main store is a renowned restaurant in Kyoto called "Shiba Wakuden." In addition to the Futako-Tamagawa location, you can also find Shino Wakuden's delicacies at their Marunouchi store in Tokyo, as well as at Shinjuku Isetan and Ginza Matsuya. The store in Takashimaya is considered a luxury establishment, with a slightly dimmed interior that resembles a Kyoto delicatessen. They offer a wide range of products, from traditional Japanese sweets to simmered bamboo shoots. One of the most famous items from Shino Wakuden is the "Nishi Kō" for 1,313 yen (5 pieces). This simple confectionery is made from lotus root and wasanbon sugar, a fine-grained sugar commonly used in Japanese sweets. The charm of this product lies in its chewy texture from the lotus root, smooth throat sensation, and elegant sweetness from the wasanbon sugar. When you first taste it, you will be pleasantly surprised by its unique texture and slow melting sensation in your mouth. It is recommended to store it at room temperature, but chilling it will enhance its flavor. Trying the "Nishi Kō" is definitely worth it.

At Shino Wakuden in the basement of Takashimaya Tamagawa, I had the "Shutama" for eat-in. There are a few seats at the back of the shop, just a few. Shutama is a fig jelly with large chunks of figs inside. It's a cold and delicious dessert that allows you to enjoy the straight taste of figs. For takeout, it's 945 yen per piece, but if you eat in, it comes with tea for 1050 yen. I also bought other sweets. Nishiko is a sweet made with lotus root and wasanbon sugar. It's smooth and chewy. Kirikuri is a sweet made by grilling finely mashed chestnuts. It's crispy, but doesn't have a strong chestnut aroma. Prices are based on the time of visit.
