Touch panel ordering. During lunchtime, there are many office workers and the staff members are efficient. They provide roasted green tea. I also ordered extra grated yam. I use this place because they offer healthy lunches. They were closed from January 1st to January 3rd. PayPay is accepted.

Ootoya, a chain restaurant that focuses on using natural ingredients and in-house cooking, pleasantly surprised me with their ginger pork dish during a comparison meal with Maruyama. I visited during lunchtime on a weekday and the restaurant was almost full, showing its popularity among both solo female diners and others. I decided to try the "Aged Black Ginger-flavored Pork Ginger Pork Set Meal" for ¥900, opting for a smaller portion of rice for a discount of 20 yen. However, I regretted not getting the regular portion since I chose the multigrain rice. As for the ginger pork dish, it met the expectations perfectly without any surprises like Maruyama. The taste was slightly lighter and seemed more health-conscious and modern. Unlike Maruyama, it included sautéed onions, giving it a balanced texture. The shredded cabbage side dish was fresh and I finished every last piece. The rice was a bit disappointing, possibly due to being freshly cooked during the lunch rush.

At 7 pm in Akasaka Mitsuke. Before teleworking at the hotel, I went to a nearby Ootoya. The partitioned seat for one person was set up with one seat empty between me and the previous customer. I didn't want to sit in the purposely empty seat and risk getting disapproving looks, so I chose a table for two. I ordered the following using the touch panel:
- Grilled striped saury
Normally I would be having a drink, but the place was crowded with young people, so it took over 10 minutes for the food to arrive. I flaked the striped saury and mixed it with the multigrain rice. The striped saury was quite salty. Even though soy sauce was provided, I felt like any more salt would be unnecessary. The rice was delicious, and I finished the meal in no time. The total came to 980 yen. I walked up the hill on Aoyama Street back to the hotel. And no, there was no woman with me. Just leave me alone~ (-_-メ)

Limited time revival from 6/8 to 7/7! I couldn't resist when I heard it was a "limited edition" offer... I went for the "Ootoya Croquette Trio Set" and added an extra "Menchi Katsu" ❤️ Sweet and fluffy, with Ootoya's famous "Pumpkin Croquette," a slightly gooey and creamy "Potato Croquette," and a juicy freshly fried "Menchi Katsu" - a great value combo of fried goodies ❤️ The generous serving of vegetables and penne pasta on the side add to the meal ❤️ Even though it was already satisfying, I couldn't resist adding an extra "Menchi Katsu" - I have a weakness ❤️ But I felt like I needed a bit more veggies, so I added the "Spinach with Sesame Dressing" on my own. For rice, I got the "Shaved Bonito Flakes with Sesame Rice Set" ❤️ Mix the egg yolk and soy sauce, pour it over the rice, sprinkle freshly shaved bonito flakes on top, and you've got a luxurious meal in no time ❤️ It was delicious ❤️

I went to "Ootoya" near Akasaka-Mitsuke Station on a Sunday night. It's surprisingly difficult to find open restaurants in Akasaka on a Sunday night. I checked on Tabelog, but most of the places were closed on Sundays, which was disheartening. I heard that Ootoya had lost some fans due to price increases and a change in their aggressive takeover policy, but I can see why. However, I was grateful to find them open when I visited after a long time. Even at night, they offer set meals at reasonable prices, which is much appreciated.

Chicken with Black Vinegar Sauce Rice Bowl and Noodle Set - 1190 yen
*A limited menu item with a huge portion (laughs). A rice bowl with plenty of vegetables and meat, topped with noodles. It came with a salad as well. It was a hearty dinner for a little over 1000 yen. They are truly a lifesaver. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a building near Akasaka-Mitsuke Station on the Marunouchi/Ginza line.

After checking out of Hotel Monterey Akasaka, I had lunch at Ootoya in front of Akasaka Mitsuke Station. Despite the building being under exterior construction, the restaurant was almost full. I managed to secure a seat and ordered the following using the touch panel: Charcoal-grilled Okimeji sea bream marinated in soy sauce and koji, set meal. I also selected miso soup, type of rice, and quantity (100g of five-grain rice). The tender Okimeji sea bream with grated daikon disappeared quickly with the 100g of five-grain rice. The total came to 960 yen. The food was delicious, but the touch panel for ordering was confusing on how to confirm the order. Even younger female customers were asking the staff for help with the operation. Could this touch panel be the work of Colowide, who acquired Ootoya? And what, you may ask, is more concerning than the food? Just leave me alone~ (-_-メ)

Colorful sweet and sour pork with plenty of vegetables, perfect for when you want both. The fried eggplant is just as good as the famous shops in Yokohama Chinatown, and the option of choosing five-grain rice instead of regular white rice is a nice touch. The quality is surprisingly high for a chain restaurant. Quick ordering and payment through the touch panel, electronic money is accepted. Excellent COVID-19 measures in place, with plenty of space between tables. I also visit chain stores. #SweetAndSourPork #FiveGrainRice #KioichoLunch #AkasakaMitsukeLunch

I had a lunch set at Ootoya on this day. It came with my favorite fried chicken, cabbage, and a sunny-side-up egg, all served with multigrain rice. With the drink bar included, it was all under 1000 yen, which was a great deal for the quality. The fried chicken had a crispy texture, and the pumpkin croquette added a nice seasonal touch. As a fan of Ootoya, I hope they continue to offer delicious food with good value.

The grilled Atka mackerel set meal costs 970 yen (tax included). It is located about a 1-minute walk from Tokyo Metro Akasaka-Mitsuke Station. I arrived at 11:40 on a weekday and the restaurant was almost full, as expected, Big-Oya is popular! There are plenty of seats for solo diners, making it easy to get in! I guess it's the trend these days to have many seats for solo diners. It's very convenient during lunchtime, Big-Oya is truly amazing!

I am grateful and happy that the bento box on rainy days is only 400 yen.

Chicken simmered in a set meal at Ootoya. I always choose the 5-grain rice option. Actually, I've never ordered anything else at Ootoya before.
