Tonight, I went to the delicious Fujiya Honten with a friend, where we had a great time standing and drinking on the first floor. We reserved a table on the second floor. The menu was as diverse as ever, with a fusion of French/Italian dishes using Japanese ingredients and cooking techniques. We ended up ordering too much because everything looked so good. With a bottle of wine, 4 glasses of champagne, and 3 highballs, the total came out to around 7,000 yen per person. It's a great restaurant.

When it comes to Fujiya Honpo, I remember the exciting atmosphere of the hut in Sakuragaoka, Shibuya (in a good way). It was a renowned restaurant that led the wine-drinking boom ten years ago. Even after the boom settled down, they have maintained their establishment and continue to reign as a cutting-edge restaurant, as a new natural wine boom has arrived. It's impressive how they keep offering menus that match the current trends, rather than just sticking to the dishes of the past. Their squid cream croquette with a pitch-black appearance was delicious.

I usually stay at a hotel in Nihonbashi for business trips, but this time I stayed in Hamacho and happened to discover this place while passing by. The first-floor standing bar where you can casually walk in alone is convenient. The wine is good, but I especially liked the jumbo-sized sours. The menu is full of unique items, and the squid ink croquette-like dish I tried for the first time was surprisingly delicious. Everything has great value for the price at this restaurant.

Fujiya Honten, a long-awaited visit. The first floor is standing-only, while the second and third floors have seating. Today, I went to the second floor. The high ceiling creates a sense of openness, which is nice. The "Sweet Shrimp and Avocado Tartare" served in an eggshell was not only cute but also delicious. The sirloin dish priced at 1,800 yen was not your typical portion size - it was huge! Next time, I might try a different dish instead of this one. Everything else was delicious too! Around 4:30 pm on Saturday, the first floor standing area and second floor seats were almost full... so I tried the third floor terrace seat for the first time. There are curtains for shade, but it can get quite stuffy when there is no wind. Once the sun set, the curtains were closed and the airflow improved a bit. The smoked salmon, marinated horse mackerel terrine, beef tongue ham cutlet, and mackerel with Genovese sauce were all delicious! They paired perfectly with the Sicilian white wine! The menu changes monthly, offering new dishes to enjoy every time, making it a place worth revisiting regularly. With delicious food, a great atmosphere, and a wide variety of drinks including wine, it's popular among couples and groups of women of all ages. After dining, I always take a leisurely stroll in the nearby Hamacho Park, reflecting on the delicious meal and making me want to come back again. I had always wanted to visit this restaurant. This time, my gourmet friend made a reservation for us, and six of us went to drink. We were seated at a table on the second floor. The first floor seemed to be for standing and drinking. In the end, everything we ate was delicious! The seasoning was well-balanced, and even the slightly strong flavors went well with the drinks. We kept ordering and saying how delicious everything was, and we ended up getting really full. The first floor is a standing bar counter, the second floor has seated tables, and there is also a terrace on the third floor. If you notice, it has been a year and a half since my last visit. This is a popular bistro in Nihonbashi, "Fujiya Honten". It has become so popular that it now has 3 stores in Shibuya, 1 store in Sangenjaya, and the momentum seems unstoppable. Located about a 5-minute walk from Ningyocho, it is a street-level store. The first floor is a standing bar type in a complete U shape, the second floor has table seats and a counter, and the third floor has terrace seats. It is a long vertical layout. I visited during the freezing winter last time, and at that time, I sat at the counter on the second floor, not knowing that there was a third floor. This time we sat on the third floor. Surprisingly, this floor has Platinum seats (free), with a roof covered with vinyl that can handle rainy weather. The menu is à la carte style, read with a smartphone. As always, with a wide variety of items, we hesitated a lot but ended up ordering around the items marked with a red circle, including the famous chicken liver mousse, sardine spring rolls, sea urchin and summer vegetable bruschetta, famous squid cream croquette, tofu Sicilian anchovy cold tofu from Ningyocho Futaba, and swordtip squid and chili pepper tripe. Since we arrived early and the place was not crowded, the service was quick. The sardine spring rolls appeared quite quickly, served with a bagna cauda sauce. The sardines wrapped in fat rolls were not fishy, with the best fatty texture, and very delicious. The sweetness of paprika and the bitterness of treviso make it refreshing. The chicken liver mousse appeared with a cute ice cream-like look. It is about the length of my finger, so if you want to eat a lot, it might be good to order two. Not only the cuteness of the appearance but also the smooth melting and airy finish are points. The bruschetta, a baguette crisply baked with marinated vegetables and sea urchin. It's not the amount of sea urchin for 550 yen. The summer vegetables and the well-balanced sea urchin blend well. The squid cream croquette was beyond what I had imagined. It's all black. I can't grasp what kind of dough it is because everything is black, but the surface is crispy, and inside, there is a heavy squid ink cream and plenty of squid. Even without sauce, you can feel the richness similar to crab miso, but it's also good with a spicy sauce. The anchovy cold tofu was also delicious. The buttery taste in the back and the strong anchovy saltiness make a very good combination. I'm happy that there is plenty of dried baby sardines. I don't eat cold tofu much, but with this modern version, I can eat a lot. However, the tripe, which was the last dish, unfortunately fell short. The tripe had a lingering smell and lacked seasoning. Hmm, I couldn't eat this. For the closing pasta, I had the Sicilian-style oil pasta with sardines, inspired by the delicious sardines. You can feel the warm taste of an Italian home. Although it lacks delicacy, it is still delicious. It's also good that there is plenty of sardine meat. So, after eating and drinking, it was just under 10,000 yen. With good cost performance and a nice atmosphere, as well as unique menu items, sitting on the terrace seat will make a happy end to your day. However, I was concerned about the mysterious rule of being rushed to make the last order even though there was still an hour left before the closing time. We arrived about 10 minutes before the reservation time, but the time was calculated from that 10 minutes before. It's too early, no matter how you look at it. You can stay until the promised two hours, but it's not a good feeling to be rushed. Even so, I think I'll come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I wish this place wasn't so popular! It seems to be really crowded already. I'd love to go back if there were seats available. On this day, we had to wait for about an hour and a half for a table. We didn't even have dessert. The 6 dishes and 6 glasses of wine in the photo cost just over 14,000 yen. I wanted to enjoy dessert and coffee as well. That would have been around 17,000 yen for two people.

When it comes to Hamacho, this is the place to be - "Fujiya Honten". It's been a while since my last visit. I enjoyed a natural sparkling wine while quenching my thirst, and ordered the "Egg Mayo with Sea Urchin" and the "Conger Eel and Fig Salad". The name "Egg Mayo" sounds cute, doesn't it? "Egg" has a nice ring to it. It's not as innocent as "Ub", nor as hungover as "Up", but rather "Egg". Hehe. The Sea Urchin on the Egg Mayo was rich and flavorful. It reminded me of the boiled egg and sea urchin dish at "Shokudo Hidaka", but with a Western twist. The conger eel was lightly grilled. The refreshing bitterness of the fragrant vegetables, the sweetness of the figs, and the subtle flavor of the conger eel all combined beautifully, complementing each other's textures as well. It was very delicious, as always, with creative twists in the menu. Thank you for the meal.
