I went to this restaurant after a long time, so I'll add some comments. First, we had potato salad as a starter. Then we had simmered root vegetables in soy sauce, with lotus root being particularly delicious. The simmered sardines with plum were served boneless and divided into two portions, which I really liked. The dried daikon radish here is mixed with mentaiko and other ingredients, making it tasty. The nikujaga (simmered meat and potatoes) was different from what I make at home, with an elegant touch of bamboo shoots. For dessert, we had miso soup with three-leaf clover and onigiri filled with salmon, mentaiko, and kombu. The miso soup was delicious, and I love big onigiri, so I was very happy. The total was ¥9000, not cheap, but the atmosphere, the option to choose from large plates, and the lady chef in her traditional outfit make it one of my favorite places. Many restaurants close early these days, but this one stays open late, which is convenient. Note that they only accept cash!

It is a hidden retreat at Asanoha Juuban, a cozy place to relax. We visited with regular customers and enjoyed the delicious items that were not written anywhere that had arrived that day. It felt like home cooking, with no elaborate presentation, just a warm meal.

I randomly entered Yosikisan, a restaurant in Asakusa, where they serve large plate dishes. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere with a simple yet warm interior. Various homely dishes are beautifully presented on large plates at the counter. The dishes include potato salad, simmered sardines with plum, sake-steamed clams, simmered hijiki seaweed, and sautéed burdock root, all of which look delicious. I asked the landlady to serve me what she recommends, and she beautifully arranged dishes such as okra and baby scallops in spicy mustard dressing, simmered daikon radish, fried chicken wings, and marinated horse mackerel. All the dishes had a homely taste but were meticulously prepared and definitely worth trying at the restaurant. The clam miso soup and rice balls were also satisfying, with options like salmon, spicy cod roe, bonito flakes, kelp, and pickled plum to choose from. I couldn't decide, so the landlady made a mix for me, which was delicious. Initially, I thought it was a high-end restaurant, but it turned out to be more approachable. I'm glad I decided to try it out and will definitely come back again.

I revisited this restaurant that was recommended by a client. I was happy to be able to order while looking at the actual dishes on a large plate. The taste and service are like home cooking, which I like. The kinpira gobou that I like was delicious, and all the other dishes were also delicious.

This is an elegant Japanese-style restaurant. Located in Azabu-Juban, sitting at the counter makes you feel like you are in Kyoto. The sophisticated mama-san and beautiful waitress serve delicious dishes. Every menu item has exquisite flavors, making it hard to choose a favorite. The food is so good that it brings back memories and makes you want to eat it again.

A small restaurant with a counter where large dishes are lined up. They are all delicious. The female owner is kind. I might go alone.

There was a kind and gentle restaurant in Azabu-Juban that we visited at 7:00 PM in November 2017. I'm not sure if I should call the owner "mama" or "female owner." There were only two of us, the owner (mama), and one staff member. There were only two other groups at the counter, and there were empty table seats. We started with beer and enjoyed the buffet style where you can choose what you like to eat. It was nice to be able to see the dishes and decide what to eat. The dishes included small horse mackerel with vinegar, burdock root and shrimp, shiitake mushroom and shrimp rolls, cabbage rolls, steamed clams in sake, and grilled silver cod with miso. Before serving the dishes lined up on the counter, they were reheated and touched up. The restaurant had very nice dishes, including the large plates and the dishes lined up on the shelves. The food was full of homemade feeling and touched our hearts. I recommend the shiitake mushroom and shrimp rolls and the steamed clams in sake. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I had always wanted to visit this place for a long time, but I heard that it gets packed with office workers after work on weekdays, so I hesitated to go. Finally, I had the opportunity to visit the restaurant called "Yoshiyoshi". Their specialty is the home-cooked dishes lined up on the counter. Just as rumored, there were a variety of dishes such as simmered fish, simmered dishes, and home-cooked dishes lined up on the counter, making it an attractive place. The only downside is that smoking is allowed in the front of the restaurant. Surprisingly, the menu was very extensive, which was surprising. The food seems to be cooked by a motherly figure, and the atmosphere inside the restaurant with jazz music playing was more mature than expected. I was also happy that they let me choose the sake cup. I tried the Takashimizu (Akita) sake, which was delicious when served warm. The appetizers included healthy egg tofu with junsaivinegar, potato salad, grilled clams with natural broth, squid somen with a home-style broth, simmered daikon radish and pork belly, more junsaivinegar, beef tataki with ginkgo nuts. The tataki had a lightly roasted thick surface. The pork belly was priced at ¥800, which is convenient for office workers who are looking for drinking companions and home-cooked dishes. When you feel like eating delicious home-cooked dishes in Azabu-Juban, this place comes highly recommended. The rows of Yamazaki whiskey bottles on display - can you keep them? 😉

On my second visit, I finally got a seat at the restaurant. It's a popular place, so I couldn't get in without a reservation the first time. When I entered the entrance and asked the staff if I could come in, they were busy talking to other customers. They eventually told me it was almost last call and to come back another time. It seemed like they were telling me to leave. If you plan to visit this restaurant, it's a good idea to check the last entry time. The service was not to my liking as they were too casual for my taste. The food, however, was excellent. The chefs in Azabu-Juban are all top-notch, and the dishes were delicious. Maybe they could tell I wouldn't be a fan of the place from the start. I should have respected my first impression.

I was taken to a wonderful small Japanese restaurant by an acquaintance. The restaurant used to be located about 100 meters away from its current location. The current location, in front of a park, is still relatively new with a stylish and chic black wall design and jazz music playing. The owner, who is ageless with a graceful demeanor and elegant language, wears a kimono and a chef's jacket - very cool. We made a reservation, but the restaurant was already fully booked. There were about 10 dishes displayed on the counter, and we ordered what we wanted to eat. The dishes were on the sweeter side, but all of them were delicious! That day, I ordered the stuffed cabbage rolls. I look forward to trying more dishes on my next visit.

I have been living in Azabu-Juban for 7 years since December 2010, but I only recently started coming to this restaurant. There are delicious-looking side dishes lined up on the counter in large plates. I always order the Chikuzen-ni, which has a rich flavor that has seeped in well but still maintains a firm texture without falling apart, making it perfectly finished. Next, I have the small horse mackerel in vinegar sauce. It's refreshing and tasty with vinegar. And then, the salt-grilled chicken wings. These are also delicious. I didn't order them today, but the cabbage rolls and simmered sardines with plum are also delicious. I don't think the cost performance is high, but I think many customers come here to be healed by the landlady's thoughtfulness. I think it's a restaurant that is the opposite of Fujiiya Shokudo.

A friend recommended this restaurant and we made a reservation for a meal. Following the map provided, we arrived at the somewhat hard-to-find location. The interior had a calm atmosphere, with the owner dressed elegantly in a kimono, not overly talkative but willing to engage in conversation. The clientele seemed to be on the older side, but the place didn't feel intimidating at all. It was a great spot for a quiet drink and chat for two. The menu consisted of home-cooked dishes like meat and potato stew, simmered yellowtail, etc. The flavors were slightly on the sweet side, as mentioned in other reviews, and very comforting. It felt like the kind of place you could casually drop by on a regular day, not just for special occasions. We sat at the corner of the counter, and there was a middle-aged couple enjoying their drinks nearby. It made me admire the idea of coming to a place like this with my partner and just relaxing together.

This is a shop on the 1st floor. It was next to "Delicious Fish ○○?" The counter was lined with large plate dishes. There was only one group of people, maybe because it was Monday, so it was calm. Jazz music was playing. Since prices were not written, I don't know how much each dish cost. The dishes included dishes like rape blossoms with mustard dressing, simmered yellowtail with daikon radish, simmered flounder, chicken wings, salted fish roe, ginkgo nuts, and marinated horse mackerel, which are standard large plate dishes. Overall, the taste was on the sweeter side and the texture was a bit lacking, but I felt that they were made with care. I was surprised by the limited selection of alcohol. I didn't order sake this time, so I'm not sure, but there was only 1 or 2 types of shochu, either barley or sweet potato. Lastly, we were served pickles as a complimentary dish.

On June 16, 2007 (Saturday), 2 people ★ Purpose: Casual dinner date with a friend ★ Smoking: OK ★ Foma signal: 3 bars ★ No private room. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Jūban. I love the onigiri and braised pork! The side dishes lined up on the counter are all delicious home-cooked meals made by the owner. The potato salad and croquettes are also tasty. We finished with silver cod grilled in Kyoto-style and onigiri, miso soup, and pickles.

It feels like a 5th floor kind of place. The main cuisine is Japanese. The appetizers seem to be made with great effort, which is admirable. The potato salad is good. However, the prices are a bit on the higher side, more like Azabu prices. Completely unrelated, but am I the only one who finds the "yoshi" character in "Yoshiyoshi" a bit seductive...?

Kappo-style restaurant run by Mama, Yoshiko Koyama, serving home-cooked meals. Yoshiki is a bit of a walk from Azabu-Juban Station. The surroundings are similar, so it may be a bit confusing for first-timers. The restaurant offers about 10 dishes on a small counter. The menu is displayed on the wall. Mama goes to Tsukiji every morning for ingredients. The dishes are standard home-cooked Japanese cuisine, such as croquettes, simmered vegetables, boiled sardines, marinated horse mackerel, boiled greens, simmered chicken, and simmered kinmedai. The flavors are comforting and personally, I love the taste. The restaurant is not very spacious, with about 10 seats at the counter and 10 at tables. It's always crowded, so it's best to call ahead. The food is delicious, and the portions are fixed, so it's common for dishes to run out after 9 pm. It's recommended to call and check if there are dishes left, especially for late-night visits. It's suitable for dates, but the clientele is mostly male office workers. It's often lively and not very quiet. The prices are reasonable, around 12,000 yen for two people to eat and drink to their fill. Mama is reserved and focuses on cooking. She always wears a kimono and a Kappo-style outfit, with neat makeup, giving off an elegant vibe. The atmosphere is not fancy, but the jazz music and dim lighting inside create a cozy and lively ambiance. It's a great place for women to enjoy without feeling intimidated by the male-dominated crowd. The food has a taste that appeals to women, yet the majority of customers are men. The restaurant is a must-visit for those craving delicious, nostalgic home-cooked meals. There is no website, but you can find some information on other sites.
