It's rare to find a non-smoking coffee shop in Asakusa. They didn't have a morning set on the menu, so I just ordered a coffee (550 yen). The coffee was a dark roast, which I usually can't drink black, but this one was just on the edge of being drinkable for me. It had a hint of bitterness, but adding a little sugar made it smooth and I didn't need milk. It was quite tasty.

I came to Asakusa and decided to take it easy by looking for a café. I found a retro café near Nakamise Street. The meal set comes with a drink for around 800 yen, which is a great deal. The Napoletana is a nostalgic dish served with salad on one plate. Menu: - Coffee - Milk - Café au lait - Cocoa - Vienna coffee - Iced coffee - Iced cocoa - Cola - Tomato juice - Orange juice - Lemon juice - Cream soda - Coffee float - Orange float - Cola float - Chocolate shake - Banana shake - Egg shake - Yogurt shake - Ham sandwich - Tuna sandwich - Egg sandwich - Vegetable sandwich - Mixed sandwich - Buttered toast - Ham toast - Cheese toast - Pizza toast - Hot dog - Spaghetti with meat sauce - Napoletana - Shrimp pilaf - Vanilla ice cream - Coffee jelly - Pudding a la mode

The coffee is delicious but the sandwich is disappointing. The filling is tasty but the bread is cheap and dry. They should use softer bread instead.

A coffee shop in Asakusa. Visited during a break on the "Asakusa Temple New Year's Visit Gourmet Tour" on the first three days of the New Year. As for the "Mont Blanc" in Asakusa, the nearby hamburger specialty shop is famous, but this shop is a pure coffee shop different from that. The clientele is mostly elderly. The interior is divided into smoking and non-smoking sections. Although there are no partitions, the smoke seems to be properly ventilated and not bothersome. There is no background music, and time flows quietly. [Coffee] (500 yen) Lightly roasted with low bitterness. Emphasizing acidity, it is easy for me to drink. Smooth mouthfeel without any sharpness. A place to relax and unwind.

Date and time: August 16, 2013 (Friday) 18:30 onwards Location: Along Asakusa Orange Street, famous for its Andalusia lineup. The exterior gives off a very plain impression, making it easy to overlook, but there is a sign outside for Mont Blanc. Occasion: Visited with a friend who wanted to go to a smoking-friendly cafe while in Asakusa. I don't smoke, in fact, I dislike it, but I agreed to go here for my friend. Wait time: No particular wait time. Customer base: Elderly tourists and locals. Atmosphere: A space with a Showa-era vibe. Seating: Smoking section at the back and non-smoking section at the front. The seating area extends quite far back, with brown sofa seats and tables neatly arranged, with potted plants serving as partitions. Order: I ordered an iced coffee for 600 yen. It was served in an Old Fashioned glass, meaning a rocks glass, filled with plenty of ice made from an ice maker, resulting in a smaller volume of coffee. I wish they served it in a larger glass. The iced coffee was made with beans specifically for iced coffee, giving it a rich and delicious flavor. Simple syrup and milk were served in glass containers, showing the authenticity of the coffee shop. Service: There were three elderly male staff members - at the cashier, serving, and in the kitchen. When my companion went to the restroom and returned, the server came to take our order promptly, showing good attention to customer needs. Other: Upon entering, we were asked, "Do you smoke?" and when answered affirmatively, we were directed to the back seating area. The establishment is smoke-friendly with a separate smoking section.

Gakuchi had some time before his meeting, so he decided to go to a cafe. He visited Mont Blanc, which seemed like a well-established cafe. Inside, there were no customers. It seemed like there were also second and third floors, but they were not being used at the moment. Two elderly men were running the place. There was no background music, giving the cafe a calm atmosphere. It felt like time had stopped at this cafe. There were tables near the entrance, but there were no waitresses. It was a traditional cafe setting. Gakuchi ordered a hot coffee for 500 yen. The sugar container and other items were reminiscent of old-style coffee shops. In a time when traditional cafes are disappearing, it was heartwarming to see a place like this still preserving its original charm. Gakuchi had a nice conversation with Nancy. While hotel lounge cafes are nice, it's important not to forget about places like this that maintain the atmosphere of the early Showa period. Gakuchi found it very soothing to be at this cafe.

This is a café located next to the famous Andelus on Asakusa Orange Street. It seemed too plain for me, so I had overlooked it for a long time. On this day, I happened to notice its existence and decided to go in. The interior was not particularly retro or modern, just clean and tidy. Despite its 60-year history, it didn't give off a very retro vibe. Tourists don't seem to come in much, and on this day, local older ladies were chatting at a nearby table. There were two elderly gentlemen who seemed to be the owners serving and cooking. I ordered an iced coffee (600 yen) that day. The taste was not bad, a bit strong, but nothing special. There wasn't anything particularly noteworthy. Considering it's Asakusa, 600 yen seemed a bit high. The sign "レヂー係" probably tells the long history of the shop. I wonder if the sandwiches and hot dogs recommended as souvenirs are delicious.

Nowadays, with places like Doutor, Excelsior, and Starbucks (which I haven't been to because they are non-smoking), traditional "coffee shops" have become increasingly rare. In the past, people would go to places like Renoir for tea, and even further back, places like Danwashitsu Takizawa were an option. In the midst of cafe chains dominating the industry, Mont Blanc, which maintains the old-fashioned charm of a "coffee shop," is a precious find. The entrance gives the impression of a deeper interior than expected. The smoking section is towards the back. The customers are mostly local elderly folks rather than tourists. A cup of coffee costs 500 yen. It may not compare to places like Veloce or Excel's 200 yen coffee, but when you're soaking in the laid-back atmosphere of Asakusa, where else would you go? This kind of old-fashioned coffee shop is what makes Asakusa special. By the way, there is a hamburger shop nearby called Mont Blanc, but it's not the same. Asakusa is all about taking it easy and enjoying the moment.

I was wandering around Asakusa town and feeling tired, so I was looking for a calm cafe to take a break. Finally, on my third try, I found a cafe where I could sit down. This was the cafe "Mont Blanc." I entered the cafe around 4 o'clock, and it was quite crowded. Although the entrance looked narrow, the inside was surprisingly spacious. There were two older staff members in the dining area and two men in the kitchen. As soon as we entered, the older man in the dining area gestured with two fingers on his lips. My husband, thinking he was asking about the number of people, replied, "Two." I thought it might be about smoking, so I said, "I don't smoke," and we were seated in the non-smoking section with green chairs. The smoking section seemed to be at the back. My husband ordered coffee, and I ordered a cafe au lait. The coffee arrived as usual, but the cafe au lait had whipped cream on top and was lukewarm. The taste, to be honest, was not that great. However, in the midst of the crowded Asakusa streets, I was grateful for the relaxing atmosphere. In that sense, I would rate it 3 stars. I'm not sure if I would visit this place again. Perhaps improving the gesture of the older man at the entrance would be a good idea. It didn't seem like he was asking about smoking or non-smoking, as all the customers who arrived while we were there (about 4 groups) answered with the number of people. Later, the older man would come closer to the customers and ask, "Smoking?" It seemed like an unnecessary extra step, especially during busy times.

It's a cafe in Asakusa that has a feel of being around for a long time. I visited with friends on a Saturday evening in January 2015. I ordered a warm tea for 500 yen (including tax!). The service was good. The tea had a nice taste and aroma, not too strong, easy to drink, and delicious. I thought it was a cafe with a proper taste. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The inside was lively. We were also lively, so it was okay to be a bit noisy with other customers.

The café has a long and narrow design. I ordered a chocolate shake for 800 yen and buttered toast. The chocolate shake was not too sweet and had a strong milk flavor. The taste was not bad, but I felt that it was overpriced for the amount. Also, despite being called a shake, this is more like a chocolate drink. To be a shake, it should have a unique creamy texture from blending ice in a mixer. The naming is free, but honestly, I was disappointed. Even though the butter was generously spread on the toast, I couldn't smell the distinctive aroma of butter.

Asakusa store information. On holidays, there is always a long line outside, but the inside is the worst. Sharing tables is common, and it's okay to have a person smoking next to you. The Japanese-style hamburger is delicious, but other dishes may lack flavor and need extra seasoning. The side pasta, corn, and green beans are tasteless. The worst part is that they don't provide wet towels, and when asked, the staff reluctantly brings paper towels. The food comes out quickly, but the constant flow of people makes it hard to relax and enjoy the meal. The staff can be unfriendly and may ignore customers. Despite being featured on TV and having celebrity signatures, the overall experience is disappointing due to the noisy atmosphere and rushed service.
