I stopped by to buy a souvenir for my business partner! This time, I thought they might appreciate Japanese sweets more...
【Good points】
- The staff gave me some rice crackers as a bonus at the end (unfortunately, they were broken and couldn't be sold as regular items)
- The register was actually a self-checkout! (which is rare for a Japanese sweets shop)
【Atmosphere】
- It was quiet and calm
【Items purchased】
- Heart-shaped rice crackers that seem to be popular with women
- Everyone's favorite "High Raisin" (raisin sandwich) ⇒ "Heart Baby" I thought it would be a nice gift for occasions like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Valentine's Day, and White Day!
- "High Raisin" The cookie dough is slightly firmer than Hokkaido Rokumaru-tei's raisin sandwich, but I think it's okay even for elderly people.

A traditional rice cracker shop as requested. They also have Japanese sweets. Their daifuku with beans tends to sell out quickly after lunch, so it's best to go in the morning. The outer layer is slightly thick. The sweet red bean paste is not too sweet and has a nice texture. I also like the perfect firmness of the beans. I am a fan of their sakura mochi as well.

The seaweed color of this rice cracker is beautiful. Jet black. I think it represents Tokyo and use it as a gift. It's a simple seaweed rice cracker. The seaweed is crispy. It's convenient to find it in department stores in Tokyo.

I visited the store on Sunday afternoon. I was walking down the street and the zunda water bun caught my eye, so I decided to go in. Inside the store, in addition to traditional Japanese sweets, they also had a variety of snacks like rice crackers and candies. On that day, I ordered the zunda water bun (210 yen). I ate it right there, and the subtle flavor of the edamame paste was elegant and refreshing, perfect for summer with the water bun texture. I think it might be more popular with adults if they reduced the sweetness a bit and made the edamame flavor more prominent by thickening the bun. This water bun is only available for a limited time during the summer. I would like to visit again when I'm in the area.

I received tea sweets from a customer. It was a box of "Asakusa Kogesen" with three types of rice crackers in strip shapes. I picked up the "soy sauce" flavored one. It looks like sesame seeds, but it's probably half-cooked grains of rice. It has a crunchy texture and might be a bit tough for the elderly. The sound of eating it is quite loud. As the name suggests, it has a fragrant soy sauce aroma. It goes well with tea as a snack.

I received a gift from Nakamuraya, a senbei and arare shop in Asakusa. I tried their Asakusa Charcoal Grilled Senbei, which comes in 24 pieces (sesame, soy sauce, and shrimp flavors). The rice crackers have a crispy texture and are delicious. They are different from regular senbei and I really like them. The sesame flavor is fragrant and nice. The soy sauce flavor is traditional and faithful to its roots. The shrimp flavor has a good aroma and I quite like it. Once you start eating these senbei, it's hard to stop. I found myself eating about half of them in no time, especially when paired with tea.

This is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop located along the Asakusa main street. They mainly sell baked sweets like senbei and arare. The shop is quite clean and spacious, with a tourist-oriented vibe, but there were not many customers, probably because it's a bit off the beaten path from the center of Asakusa. I was intrigued by the cute display of what seemed to be "soteeku," but I ended up buying the fried mochi (soy sauce flavor). They were small, crispy mochi with a light soy sauce flavor, just as described. They had a nice crunch and a subtle soy sauce taste, making them quite enjoyable. Overall, they were delicious and suitable for both tourists looking for souvenirs and locals for everyday snacks.

Recently, I have been eating a lot of rice crackers. My partner has weak teeth, so we didn't eat them much before. But after a long time, when I ate them again, they tasted delicious. When I told my friend about it, they gave me Nakamuraya rice crackers from Asakusa as a souvenir! When I opened it, there were three flavors: soy sauce, sesame, and shrimp. They are crunchy rice crackers. All three flavors are fragrant and delicious! Even after a few days, they were still crispy and tasty. The shrimp flavor had a great aroma and disappeared quickly!

I received a pack of 24 pieces of Asakusa Nakamuraya's Asakusa Kogeseni (sesame, soy sauce, shrimp). The crispy texture, similar to rice crackers, is fragrant and has a hardness that is like a mix between senbei and okaki, making it very delicious. It feels light when eaten, so you can easily eat as many pieces as you want. It's perfect as a snack with tea. The soy sauce flavor is standard, but the shrimp flavor is strong and very enjoyable. It might be a good choice for a small gift.

Located in Taito Ward, Tokyo, this senbei (rice cracker) shop is called "Asakusa Nakamuraya." It was established in 1947 as a retail store, but in the 1950s, they started producing okaki (rice crackers) and have continued to do so since then. One of their specialties is the Asakusa Koge Senbei, a rice cracker snack they offer. Made by processing glutinous rice into a crispy texture and baking it, this snack comes in various flavors like soy sauce and shrimp. True to its name, it has a toasted aroma and a light, crunchy texture. The saltiness is just right, making it easy to eat multiple pieces. However, the individual packaging may seem a bit excessive.

In October 2012, while in my hometown Sapporo, I visited the Edo-era traditional restaurants. I attended a special event at Marui Imai Sapporo Main Store, a department store celebrating its 140th anniversary in Sapporo. I used this opportunity in September during the "36th Edo Traditional Restaurant Tour" to visit several establishments. The first review is for Asakusa Funawa. The second is for Asakusa Yagenbori. The third is for Hibiya Matsumotoro. The fourth is for Mikado Coffee Shop Nihonbashi Main Store. The fifth is for Tsukiji Tora Saka. I had visited Asakusa Umeen, the sixth establishment, last year. The seventh is Asakusa Komakata Dozeu Main Store. The eighth is Ueno Izumi Main Store. It was delightful to have the opportunity to taste famous dishes from various regions at a local Sapporo product exhibition. The ninth stop was Asakusa Nakamuraya, a shop offering rice crackers and karinto. One bag costs 368 yen, while three bags cost 1050 yen, making it a straightforward pricing system. I visited on the last day of the event when the stores were starting their final sales. I tried some samples and found them delicious, so I ended up buying four bags for 1050 yen. Here are the items I purchased: - Soka Senbei with seaweed: A hand-baked style with a large piece of seaweed, crispy and slightly spicy. - Soka Senbei with soy sauce: A typical soy sauce senbei, also crispy. - Matsuba Karinto: Thin karinto sticks in various colors, a universally pleasing taste. - Ebi Konomi Ebi Senbei: Three different flavors, addictive once you start eating them. 90g per bag, offering a simple and enjoyable taste at an affordable price. While my memory is not clear, I feel like I visited this shop in Asakusa when I stayed there in the past. They were also selling three bags at the store, which I vaguely remember purchasing. It's a humble, traditional taste of the downtown area. I hope to visit Asakusa Nakamuraya again next year. The staff there are friendly and the food is delicious.

I received a souvenir from Tokyo. It was a set of "Asakusa Kogesen" rice crackers from Nakamuraya, and I chose the most standard "soy sauce" flavor. The crackers are elegant in shape and size, and you can feel the texture of the rice grains. When you open the package, a fragrant soy sauce aroma fills the air. Delicious. While trendy sweets from Tokyo are nice, you can't beat soy sauce rice crackers! The small individual packages of crackers are perfect for souvenirs.
