I arrived at the shop at 11:25 on a regular day. The entrance was on the second floor of a small building, and the interior of the shop was surprisingly spacious and clean. The shop is run by two people, a woman in charge of the floor and a man in charge of cooking. There were no customers yet. I ordered the Kalbi Yaki (grilled beef ribs) for 930 yen from the five lunch menu options. The dish was served in about 5 minutes. The main plate had grilled Kalbi beef (cut into small pieces), shredded cabbage, and potato salad. It also came with seaweed soup and rice in a metal container. The Kalbi Yaki had some slightly tough pieces of meat, but it was juicy and flavorful with a good amount of fat. The rice was delicious and went well with the meal. The soup was also tasty. It was a simple and satisfying Kalbi lunch.

I visited after a long time. The COVID-19 measures were quite solid, which was reassuring. I am a fan of the Megane Niku (glasses meat) priced at 660 yen here. I always order it at the beginning and end. It is reasonably priced, has a meaty taste with lean meat, and a flavor similar to Harami. As I am getting older, it is the perfect meat for me. I start with a draft beer for 560 yen, Tan Shio (tongue salt) for 900 yen, and Megane Niku. Then I order today's assorted platter for 1,840 yen, as well as Kimchi assortment for 720 yen and Namul for 600 yen. I usually switch to highball and order Megane Niku again. Although I didn't order it this time, I also like the white senmai sashimi. It's not on the menu, but they offer a half portion of cold noodles, so I ordered that and had a satisfying yakiniku experience.

Lunch before 1:00 PM. Today's lunch special, Dice Steak 200g for 850 yen (tax included). The amount of meat was sufficient. It was tender but not too soft, and delicious. The soup and sauce were a bit salty, which was a bit disappointing. But for this price and portion size, it's a good deal. Next time, I'd like to try the Kalbi BBQ.

Located on a back street in Kanda Tsukasa-cho 2-chome, when viewed from Sotobori Street, you will find Gyumasa, a Japanese beef yakiniku restaurant on the second floor of the building behind Otsuka Pharmaceutical. The first floor of the building houses Yakitori Taiki, and on the fourth floor, you can find Jidoriya, among others. Nearby, there is also Mimasya, said to be Japan's oldest izakaya. This restaurant is a direct-operated store of the meat wholesaler "O.M.I. Ryutsuken," established in 1994. Details about the company's history and the representative can be found on the official website. During weekdays at lunchtime, a chalkboard menu is displayed on the first floor. The lunch menu includes yakiniku starting from 850 yen, so I decided to go up the stairs to the second floor. Upon opening the door on the second floor, I was greeted by a wooden sign for "Tochigi Wagyu." Inside the restaurant, there are five 4-person tables and one 8-person table. The kitchen chef and the lady in the hall were managing the place. The lunch menu includes options priced at less than 1,000 yen. I was contemplating between various choices but ended up ordering the Sirloin Steak (150g) for 850 yen. After placing my order, the Sirloin Steak arrived in about 5 minutes. It was served on a white plate with Sirloin Steak, shredded cabbage, and stir-fried glass noodles. The Sirloin Steak was topped with white sesame seeds. I dipped the Sirloin Steak in the sauce and paired it with rice, enjoying the delicious meal. The meat was tender and easy to eat. It was different from the hearty steaks found around Akihabara. The sauce was light yet flavorful, made with a base of hachimitsu miso and over 10 other seasonings, according to the head chef. The soup served was Wakame and green onion. The rice was also cooked perfectly. At one point, an elegant lady came to buy a bento box. The bento boxes are made to order, so they are served fresh. Our restaurant opened in 2007, marking our 14th year. We continue to be supported by our neighbors, which is why we have been able to sustain our business for so long.

This autumn, there have been many typhoons hitting the area, making it difficult to enjoy clear autumn weather. Despite the recent rainy weather caused by Typhoon 20 and the indirect impact of Typhoon 21 expected the next day, there was a brief moment of clear skies and pleasant weather during the day. Taking advantage of the temporary sunshine, I decided to have lunch with a friend and we opted for yakiniku, a special treat for us. We chose a yakiniku restaurant located in a back alley in Kanda Shisacho, near other well-known establishments. The restaurant seemed to be a hidden gem as none of the top Kanda lunch reviewers had reviewed it. The restaurant is operated by a company called OMI RYUTOKEN, which specializes in meat distribution. The founder had a background in the meat industry and decided to open the restaurant to share the deliciousness of meat with more people. The lunch menu was simple, with options such as steak set, kalbi set, beef tongue salt-grilled set, and more. We ordered the beef tongue salt-grilled set and the kalbi set. The dishes arrived promptly, with a side of shredded cabbage and seasoned glass noodles. The beef tongue was thinly sliced and flavorful, while the kalbi was tender and delicious. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere, and the service was friendly. Overall, it was a satisfying lunch experience.

Today's lunch is in Awajicho. Originally, I was planning to go to a different restaurant for a specific purpose, but it turned out that it was fully booked and I couldn't get in without a reservation. What a shock! So, I quickly searched for a nearby restaurant and found this yakiniku restaurant. It seems to be run by a meat wholesaler. The location is about a 2-minute walk from Awajicho Station, just off the main street. I arrived at the restaurant around 11:40. There were only two groups of customers at that time, but more people started coming in later. The interior of the restaurant has a casual diner-like atmosphere. Looking at the menu, all lunch options are priced at 900 yen or less. The most expensive item is the kalbi yaki, while the other options are 800 yen. I was torn between choosing the kalbi yaki and the one that had "Japanese beef" in its name, but I ended up ordering the Japanese beef menchi katsu for 800 yen. It comes with miso soup, and you can get a free extra serving of rice. Oh, I unintentionally ordered the extra rice just because it was free! The menchi katsu arrived in about 10 minutes after ordering. Surprisingly, the chopsticks and rice bowl were Korean-style, and the side dish plate was like a plastic school lunch tray. On top of the plate, there were cabbage and glass noodles. The extra rice was definitely a good choice! The sauce came in a small dish, with a slightly tangy and spicy flavor. It was a bit different from the usual sauce, but it paired really well with the menchi katsu. The menchi katsu was freshly fried, hot, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. It's no surprise that it's a restaurant run by a meat wholesaler. It's delicious, and getting Japanese beef menchi katsu at this price feels like a great deal!

I had the diced steak lunch set. The diced steak was cooked well and coated with a slightly sweet yakiniku sauce, which was delicious.

The Kalbi BBQ for 100g at 900 yen is reasonably priced. The meat is delicious but slightly tough. During lunchtime, it gets crowded by 12:00, but by 12:30 it's empty, so it's better to go a bit later. The service is quiet and the food takes a long time to come out, so the turnover is slow, with only one rotation during lunch. The tables are all for four people, so if you go alone, you may have to share, but there is an acrylic board in between, so it's not too bothersome. If you want to eat a lot, I recommend getting extra meat or trying the ginger pork.

When I ordered the top sirloin, I was surprised to see a piece of meat that was almost all fat. It was the first time I had ever seen such a thing. Also, I was served a sour beer, which was also a first for me. I had two new experiences at this restaurant.

Going for yakiniku after work is great. It's a good balance of time and satisfaction. I had been curious for a while, but finally got a chance to visit. The small and clean interior was nice. The draft beer was a rare Malt's and it was delicious. It might be even better than Premium Malts. The kimchi and namul were okay. The assortment of 5 types of hormone was cute but a bit lacking. The thick cuts like harami were a bit mediocre. The thick cuts were so-so too. The beef tongue was not bad. The "megane" meat was quite tasty. It might be the most delicious. There were few customers that day, so I was able to relax and enjoy my meal.
