It was lunchtime, but being a Saturday, there was only one customer ahead of me. I ordered croquette soba. It was served in just 1 minute, very fast! However, the croquette was cold...probably because of the temperature difference with the soup. I wasn't expecting much, but honestly, the croquette soba was a disappointment. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived in Tokyo and had breakfast at a standing soba noodle shop. It was my first time visiting "Dochu Soba," I wasn't sure how to pronounce it (lol). I was greeted by a cheerful lady saying "Irasshaimase." It felt nice. I bought a 420 yen tempura soba ticket from a vending machine using Suica. Tokyo is very convenient with Suica. The soba was ready quickly. The slightly sweet broth was delicious, but the noodles were a bit too firm for my liking. Unfortunately, I didn't really like the tempura either. If I come back next time, I might try the ramen.

I visited a soba shop during my business trip to Tokyo. The soba was cheap, quick, and had a rich broth with a generous portion. There was a sign saying "morning ramen," so it seems they also serve ramen. It's recommended for when you're short on time. The staff was wearing D-Works uniforms.

Today, I had lunch in Gotanda. I decided to try the standing soba shop inside the station. I thought of the one on the platform of Gotanda Station on the Yamanote Line. Let's go check it out. I arrived at 3:52 PM, with 2 customers already inside and no one behind me. I ordered the popular dish, kakiage soba. I paid with my Suica card. The whole wheat noodles were chewy. The kakiage was moist and heavy, like a deep-fried snack. It wasn't really my favorite, but the broth had a slightly sweet flavor that became milder as I ate, thanks to the oil from the kakiage. Overall, it was a tasty meal.Visited for lunch on March 12, 2023. Rating: 3.26

I had morning soba at a standing soba shop on the platform of Gotanda Station on the Yamanote Line. The shop is called Michisoba, as far as I know, it is the only one. The menu is similar to that of JR group soba shops, but it's a bit different from the Tachikiraku group. The menu also includes some old-fashioned items, probably with boiled noodles. But you don't have to worry too much about that. Michisoba is truly unique.

This is a shop located on the platform of JR Gotanda Station. It feels rare to have a soba restaurant on the platform of the Yamanote Line. I had the kakiage soba. It had a taste that felt like going back to the Showa era. Soft noodles, sticky kakiage. It was a nostalgic feeling.

I was on my way to the site from home during lunchtime. I imagined various train stations and routes, and decided to quickly have some soba at JR Gotanda Station platform. I had kakiage soba. It was a simple and satisfying meal just as I wanted. It's important to have meals that match your expectations. There was a new soba restaurant in front of the ticket gate, but it was full so I went to the one on the platform. I'll definitely use it from time to time!

I visited around 10:30 in the morning. It's a standing soba shop located on the platform of Gotanda Station on the JR Yamanote Line, towards Osaki Station. They also offer udon, curry rice, and more. I purchased a 440 yen ticket for the rumored new noodles of the Chinese soba. The noodles were firm and a bit chewy, but they paired well with the soy sauce-flavored soup. There were also some soba-like noodles mixed in with the Chinese noodles (see photo). It was quite delicious, and it made me nostalgic for the times when I used to eat it often. Since it's a soba shop, I would like to try the croquette soba next time. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I commuted to Tokyo Big Sight again! Starting from this day, I will be commuting by train every day, so I decided to check out the standing soba shop along the way. The first one I visited was "Michisoba Gotanda" located on the platform of Gotanda Station on the Yamanote Line. Actually, there is no reason for me to get off at Gotanda because I transfer at Osaki from Meguro, but it's okay to make a little detour, right?! JR stations surprisingly still have standing soba shops on the platforms, don't they? Standing and eating soba on the platform is the best situation, isn't it? However, on the Yamanote Line, while eating a bowl of soba, 3-4 trains will pass by! On this day, I chose the Chinese soba for 420 yen. It's not soba! Setting that aside, being able to eat ramen for 420 yen is truly Tokyo magic. It may not be particularly delicious, but considering the price, it's more than enough! If you suddenly feel like eating ramen while on the Yamanote Line, why not get off at Gotanda Station and give it a try? Thank you for the meal!

I ordered the usual Tendo soba. It was my first visit to this standing soba shop on the station platform. The soba was decent for standing eating, not too thin. The broth was sweet, and the tempura was of standard taste. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

At JR Gotanda Station, there is a soba restaurant on the Yamanote Line platform. It's rare to find a soba shop on a platform these days, but "Kiraku" is one of those precious few. I bought ramen for 420 yen at the ticket machine. The ramen came with green onions, seaweed, bamboo shoots, and chashu. I added sesame by myself. The taste was simple and the portion of noodles felt generous. It was a delicious station ramen. Thank you for the meal.

Kakiage soba for 400 yen. It seems like there are fewer soba shops on train station platforms these days. As far as the Yamanote Line goes, I only know of three stations that still have them: Gotanda Station, Meguro Station, and Shinagawa Station. For those of us who can't resist stopping by a standing soba shop, these places offer a quick and warm meal, especially during the cold season. The one I tried was the kakiage soba at Dochu Soba, which seems to be affiliated with Irorian and Oedo Soba. It was similar in quality to the kakiage soba I had at Oedo Soba in Chiba recently. It might just be your typical train station soba, but there's a certain charm to it, don't you think? It's hard to convey the small joys of such experiences, but they're definitely there.

Today, I visited the Michinaka Soba Gotanda store located on the Yamanote Line platform at JR Gotanda Station. It was my first visit, so I ordered the basic Kakiage Tempura Tamago Soba for 480 yen from the ticket machine. The restaurant seemed to have been around for quite some time, and the taste was somewhat nostalgic with a scent reminiscent of an old university building. I wonder if this place will eventually become a memory as well. Thank you for the meal.

During business hours, I stopped by a standing soba shop on the platform of JR Gotanda Station while on the move. The shop has a traditional style with only a counter. First, I purchased a ticket at the vending machine. There were various menu items, but I decided on the tempura soba and bought a ticket. I handed it to the staff and waited for a while. There was one customer in front of me and three customers behind me. After waiting for about a minute and a half, they called out "Tempura soba ready!" I thought it was for the customer in front of me, but it was actually mine. The customer in front of me had ordered ramen, which took longer. The tempura soba looked normal. So, I started eating! The broth was quite tasty! Then, I tried the tempura... It had a strange soft texture... It seemed like it had been prepared in advance for a long time... The tempura was quite disappointing. The soba itself... was a bit... It didn't really suit my taste. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I was on my usual business trip to Yamanashi. Since the transfer between the Keihin-Tohoku Line heading towards Shinagawa and the Yamanote Line outer loop has become more convenient, I took the Yamanote Line towards Shinjuku. I stopped by a place that had caught my interest for a while. It is a standing soba shop on the platform of Gotanda Station, run by JR. I feel like there used to be this brand of shops in places like Oimori, but now they seem to have consolidated into "Irorian Kiraku" and "Sobaiichi," leaving only this one. Standing soba shops on platforms are becoming endangered, so it is quite a rare find. I entered the shop around 7:40 am, with only two other customers already there. The shop is operated by a single lady. Despite the old-fashioned appearance, they have a ticket machine where I purchased the "Kakiage Soba" for 390 yen. I handed the ticket to the lady and received my bowl in about 2 minutes. The noodles are NRE's homemade boiled noodles, but they are not overly soft. The soy sauce-colored soba broth is standard. The kakiage tempura seemed to be pre-fried, lacking the crispy texture. I couldn't see any tempura frying equipment in the shop, so they might have been delivered from a factory. The combination of noodles, broth, and tempura brought back memories of the style of standing soba I had for the first time when I came to Tokyo almost half a century ago. It's a style of platform soba that is now almost extinct, but it was a nostalgic and enjoyable experience.

After walking around Meguro Fudoson, I extended my walk to Gotanda Station and stopped by a soba shop along the way. The shop's name was unique and it was one of the few station soba shops left. The shop was located in the middle of the platform, with entrances on both the inner and outer sides. They were advertising a mountain vegetable and grated radish soba for ¥370, so I added a squid and pickled ginger tempura for an additional ¥210. An elderly lady served me the hot soba and brought the bowl to my standing spot. Chopsticks and seasonings were all gathered at the broth spout of the bowl. The taste was like Tokyo's Edo-style soba or Yokohama's Hamakko-style soba. The noodles were soft with a slight chewiness, typical of standing soba shops. The broth was a healthy, light flavor, possibly from a chain supplier. The temperature was warm but slightly lukewarm. The main toppings of mountain vegetables and grated radish were a bit sparse, and the tempura seemed pre-fried and had cooled down, with a firm and soft type of batter. However, the ginger flavor was strong, and there was plenty of squid in it. I was glad I added the tempura. Eating while keeping an eye on the arrival of trains gave me a nostalgic feeling. Next time, I might try their curry soba. That's all.

This is Dochu Soba at Gotanda Station platform. Kakiage Soba for 390 yen. This shop is located on the Yamanote Line at Gotanda Station. It's part of the station soba series. I've started exploring station soba since I started commuting by train (lol). Dochu Soba in Gotanda is a venerable station soba. The noodles were a bit soft and the kakiage was a bit crispy. The broth was a bit thin as it was served from a dispenser. The great thing about this shop is the price of 390 yen (lol).

Rushed meal. It's really convenient to have a shop inside the station premises. And it's even more convenient when you know that your order will be ready quickly. That's the kind of convenient station soba shop. Recently, there are more trendy shops popping up, but this station soba shop on the Yamanote Line at Gotanda Station is exactly what you'd imagine when you think of a station soba shop. In addition to soba and udon, they also have curry and ramen on the menu. Since I wanted something quick, I ordered the tanuki udon with less noodles. The presentation looked easy too. The staff asked if it was okay to have less noodles, as it would be significantly less. Thank you. It's fine. I don't have much time to eat. The crunchy texture of the fried tempura flakes might not be appealing to those with trypophobia. Since there were a lot of tempura flakes, I took out some udon to try. The broth was rich. The smooth udon had a nice texture. I don't need to talk about the firmness or chewiness. This is the classic stand-up soba shop. I won't call it TGS anymore. Even though I had udon, it was delicious.

On a certain weekday in December 2021, just before noon, I went to a soba restaurant at JR Gotanda Station called "Ekisoba" to have a lunch. I remember that around 10 years ago when I used to commute through Gotanda Station, there was a place called "Ajisai Chaya" there. This "Michinaka Soba" is operated by JR East Japan Cross Station, a group company of JR East Japan. The interior of the restaurant is not very spacious, it's rather cozy. At that time, there was a cheerful and friendly elderly lady (excuse me for being rude!) cooking the soba. I had the "Curry Set with Kakiage" (650 yen). Eating the kakiage soba with a mini curry in this set made my stomach warm and satisfied.

Hello, this is SapiO. Visited a standing soba restaurant on the Yamanote Line platform at Gotanda Station with the aim of increasing the number of visits. I often pass by this platform at Gotanda Station for work and always thought, "I should visit this place someday." Despite visiting many times, I only just found out that the name is "Dochu Soba." Opening the door that I had passed by countless times, I was greeted by a chime saying "Lincoln♪". The high-tech ticket machine at the entrance was unexpected for a soba shop. After a few double takes, I found the button for Chuka Soba priced at 410 yen. If you want to enhance your satisfaction, it seems like a good idea to add tempura or fried chicken as toppings. I handed the food ticket to the staff lady and was told to wait for about 2 minutes. A speed that allows you to finish your meal in 1 minute and catch the next Yamanote Line train. This place is truly a restaurant for busy people. Earlier that day, I had waited 30 minutes at a new restaurant in Toranomon. At that moment, a salaryman said, "I'm sorry, I don't have time..." and left. Perhaps this is what is meant by the term "salaryman meal." Soon, I heard, "Chuka Soba, here you go." No trays or anything fancy, just a straightforward service. I carried the bowl to the counter and started eating. The thin slices of pork, menma, seaweed, and green onions were a mix that made me smile. When I tasted the soup, it had a soba flavor. The Japanese-style broth was strong with soy sauce. It felt like I was drinking soba soup. I couldn't help but smile at the unexpected taste. This smile marked the end of my experience at this restaurant. The noodles were Chinese-style, nothing special. They were chewy and had a smooth texture. It was a nice change from eating only soba noodles. The toppings were as expected in terms of taste. I added white pepper at the end to make it a peppery ramen. Sometimes, it's nice to eat like this. I finished the meal easily. Thank you for the meal.
