The restaurant is located on the second floor of a building near a bridge. The interior has a strong vibe of being converted from an old office floor into a restaurant (which I personally like). The entrance staircase didn't feel like an office, so it might have been a chain cafe like Renoir. Inside, there was a kitchen on the right, separate seating for groups and small parties in the front, and another space on the left that I didn't get to explore. I ordered some appetizers like marinated firefly squid, boiled peanuts, and ham cutlet. I thought the place might get busier as the workday ended, so I planned to leave after some reconnaissance. Despite the name "Sakagura" (which means sake brewery), the main focus seemed to be shochu rather than sake. I ordered a glass of Yamada Nishiki sake. The food and drinks were all delicious, and the atmosphere was relaxing. The staff were friendly and not overly chatty, which added to the comfortable feeling of the place. I was dining alone, but I could imagine it being even more enjoyable with a talkative companion.

Tokyo: Gotanda "Sakagura Gotanda" This was the first stop of the night so we only ordered a little bit. I've been to many casual izakayas, but this place is something else. The restaurant is lined with lots of sake and has a retro feel like a cafeteria. It has a very down-to-earth vibe! They have an unbelievable variety of shochu, as they are known as a sake brewery. Their lunch menu seems to be popular too. I definitely want to come back for a proper meal next time! #SakaguraGotanda #Gotanda #GotandaIzakaya #GotandaShochu #GotandaGourmet #GotandaFoodie #TokyoGourmet #Foodie #Delicious #FoodPorn #Foodgasm #FoodPhotography #JapaneseFood #FoodSurfer #FoodiesOfInstagram #TabelogSurfer

Around 17:30, there were only about one group of customers, so it was quiet and relaxing. The restaurant is quite spacious, and I imagine it gets crowded around 19:00. The service started off good but became a bit neglectful over time. The edamame seemed frozen, the chicken liver skewers were watery, and the potato salad was chunky instead of mashed. The ham cutlet was interesting, with layers of sliced ham fried together like a mille-feuille. The cabbage side dish was lackluster. They offer a variety of drinks like beer, shochu, sake, and chu-hai, but there may be some order mix-ups. The cost performance is not great, but it's a place where you can just drink and relax.

A popular izakaya run by a liquor store, just a few minutes from Gotanda Station A1 exit. Despite it being a weekday, the place was packed with customers, including many regulars. Highly recommended dishes included: Thick fried tofu for 470 yen, Deep-fried taro for 550 yen, Beef tripe stew for 620 yen, Pickled cucumber for 420 yen, Grilled udon noodles, and Wakame seaweed tempura for 380 yen. The taro recommended by the regulars was exceptional. There are also many daily specials to choose from, so you won't have trouble finding something to pair with your drinks. We tried two types of sweet potato shochu from "Komasa Jozo" in Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture: "Aya Gold" for 2,900 yen and "Kotzuru the Muscat" for 550 yen. Both had a fruity aroma and a rich sweet potato flavor. They were delicious both with soda and hot water. With such affordable prices, this place is a favorite among salarymen. They have a wide selection of shochu and other alcoholic beverages, so you'll never get tired of drinking here.

I have already visited about two bars. I wanted to eat something light to finish, so I visited this place. They have a wide variety of shochu. However, I started with a draft beer for my first drink. For my second drink, I had shochu (Takachiho) with hot water. It was very strong, I thought they had warmed up the shochu. I ordered something called the Gotanda Salad. It's a very retro salad, with white asparagus and mayonnaise. The ham cutlet was delicious as usual. As for the bonito sashimi, I have no comment. The only downside was that smoking is allowed inside the restaurant.

I finally mustered up the courage to visit this place that I had been curious about for a while. (^_^)/ The interior of the restaurant has a nostalgic cafeteria-like atmosphere. The amount and variety of shochu available are amazing. Since it was lunchtime, I decided to skip the alcohol for now and ordered the mixed fry set from the lunch menu. It had a simple but delicious taste. It's a nice place to visit with people of the same generation. It feels like going back 20 years... haha. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely go back again. I met up with a friend in Gotanda and we decided to have a casual drink at this restaurant. It was located on the second floor of a building. The interior was open and they also serve lunch during the day. We started with draft beer. Since it was our first time at this restaurant, we asked the staff for recommendations and ended up ordering a sashimi platter, octopus with wasabi, assorted grilled chicken skewers, and stir-fried yam with plum. It seemed like a place that specializes in fish and grilled chicken dishes. Instead of using tablets, we placed our orders with the traditional method of talking to the staff. When we looked at the drink menu, we found black beer available. "We usually have black draft beer, but today we only have bottles, sorry about that." Well, it's not often you can find black draft beer in Tokyo, so I ended up ordering five bottles. Feeling quite confident, we also added simmered fish, carpaccio, oden, and assorted grilled offal to our order. The dishes were well-prepared and went well with the drinks. The standout for me was the simmered black sea bream, which had a generous portion and a delicious soy sauce-based seasoning. The service was efficient and I felt that I could confidently bring acquaintances here. We spent about three hours and the total bill for two people was 9800 yen. I will definitely visit again.

About a 1-minute walk from Gotanda Station West Exit. Next to Family Mart, there's a sake brewery called Gotanda. It seems to be more of a night spot, but they also offer lunch and takeout. All items for takeout are priced at ¥500. There was a sign saying you can enjoy Shinjuku Curry at the store, so I decided to have lunch there today. The spacious floor has about 20 tables, and there is also a tatami area, making it quite roomy. Shelves are lined with shochu bottles. During lunchtime, you can help yourself to tea, coffee, and water, as well as complimentary natto. I ordered the curry for ¥800 and 2 oyster fritters for ¥300. It took about 10 minutes for the food to arrive. I was surprised to find a tonkatsu on top of the curry, which was supposed to be a weekly special topping. I felt like I got a good deal. The set came with salad, kinpira gobou, and miso soup. The oyster fritters arrived quickly as well. It was a bit too much for me. The curry itself was a sweet, homey curry with vegetables blended in. The tonkatsu was thin and cheap-looking, but it reminded me of something nostalgic. Not bad. The oyster fritters were decent. They were fairly large and crispy. I think it's good value for the price, but for some reason, the atmosphere and menu make it feel less cost-effective, which is strange.

☆Gotanda Station☆ I wanted to have a Japanese-style pub, lunch set, or bento lunch, so I went to Gotanda-san. I decided to have the fried horse mackerel set meal. It was nice that you could help yourself to one pack of natto. There were two small fried horse mackerels, freshly fried and crispy. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Gotanda's ally for salarymen, Sakagura Gotanda. A large, casual izakaya located in a building very close to the station. As you enter, you'll see shelves lined with large bottles of sake. The friendly, Showa-era motherly service makes for enjoyable communication. I hope this old-fashioned izakaya can keep going strong despite the pandemic. We enjoyed delicious dishes and drinks. Thank you for the meal.

Located at Gotanda Station, "Gotanda" is a place recommended by the master of the red lantern, who took me to this unexplored away game. The food and drinks here are quite delicious! The seaweed tempura is delicious! Also, the ginkgo nuts, nuta, ankimo, and grilled meat are consistently good! I brought a bottle, so I will visit again.

[Dishes/Price] Pork cutlet curry for 800 yen, all-you-can-drink coffee
[Impression] A Japanese izakaya in front of Gotanda Station with a wide variety of sake and shochu. I visited for lunch on this day. I ordered the pork cutlet curry, which was not on the menu but only had a photo. The taste was decently good, and it came with salad and miso soup in a generous portion, so I was reasonably satisfied. It was nice to be able to relax after the meal with all-you-can-drink coffee. The place was not too crowded, so it was calm and pleasant.

I dropped by this restaurant on a regular night. The place I wanted to go to was full and I was turned away. So I wandered around Gotanda thinking things weren't going my way. Eventually, I decided to try this place. I went up the stairs and was shown to an available table by the staff. I started off with a draft beer (420 yen) and then ordered the meat and tofu (500 yen), squid sashimi (630 yen), gizzard (150 yen), and tsukune (150 yen). There was also a cover charge (320 yen). Before I knew it, the dishes arrived. The meat and tofu was piping hot. The gizzard and tsukune were seasoned with salt. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. 2019.07.10 Dining out. 2888 reviews (Tokyo: 1196 reviews)

[Food/Price] Draft beer, chashu, karaage, umeshoju, yakitori for two people total of about 4000 yen (including tax)
[Impression] A Japanese izakaya in Gotanda. They have a wide variety of sake and shochu. I went in planning to have a quick drink and leave since I was busy today. The food was average in taste and the prices were not particularly cheap. If you come here for the sake and shochu, it might be a good choice, but otherwise, I wouldn't really recommend it.

I'm already hooked on the sake brewery Gotanda. The entrance has a vibe that you might find in Shinbashi. Well, Gotanda is not much different. This is my second visit. Last time, all the dishes were delicious so I came back. It's really crowded. There are a few staff members who seem like mothers. They are very friendly. Even when you place an order, they don't really listen to you haha. When I asked for recommendations after ordering a few dishes, they suggested the most popular dish, simmered and fried taro. It's cooked but also fried, which is interesting. But it's really delicious. You eat it with wasabi salt. They also said the grilled meat is delicious and popular, but when I asked if it's really good, they said they didn't know... but when I tried it, it was really tender and tasty. Everything here is delicious. I might end up coming here often, almost like going to the company cafeteria... Thanks for the meal again today.

After finishing work and getting ready to go home, I was taken to a restaurant called Gotanda by a senior colleague who is a fan of the Hiroshima Carp baseball team. Although I like casual izakayas, I haven't been to one recently. My colleague understood my preferences and asked me not to review the place, as it's not that kind of place. Despite my doubts, I climbed the stairs and found myself in a space that felt like Shinbashi or Kanda. The place was bustling with customers. Although it's a casual izakaya, the food here is really delicious. I ordered salted fish roe, sweet potato tempura, oyster fry, pork kimchi stir-fried udon, and grilled mackerel. Everything was incredibly tasty, with a homemade feel. It was different from what I expected. In fact, it was surprisingly delicious. The dishes looked like they came from a casual izakaya, but they were full of homemade goodness. I was surprised by the size of the rice balls for dessert, but they were fluffy and the miso soup was delicious. Hmm, this place might be really good. Thank you for the meal!

JR Gotanda Station West Exit, there is a traditional izakaya located on the second floor of a building just a short walk away. The best thing about this place is that despite being a small izakaya, there is plenty of space. The tables are arranged in a spacious manner. I started with a draft beer. Some appetizers are served, and the burdock root with mayonnaise salad was surprisingly delicious. I have high expectations for the rest of the meal. The mapo tofu also had a great flavor. I had a few more draft beers, and I truly enjoyed a leisurely drinking experience. The staff at the restaurant were Japanese, and it can be said that this is a good izakaya with a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere.
