On July 1st, I visited a shaved ice shop that opened near Iwamoto-cho and Akihabara. The location is a 3.4-minute walk from Iwamoto-cho Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line, a 6.7-minute walk from Akihabara Station on the JR Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, and Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, and a 7.8-minute walk from Kanda Station on the JR Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line, Chuo Line, and Tokyo Metro Ginza Line. The opening hours are from 11:30 am to 6 pm, but they may close once they run out of shaved ice. They will have evening hours on August 23rd, with the last order at 8 pm. The regular holidays are August 14th, 15th, 19th, 21st, and 28th. For future holidays, please check their Instagram. I passed by on my bicycle on June 25th and saw flowers and a shaved ice shop, so I decided to visit around 2 pm. There are about 6 counter seats and 3 small tables for 2 people each. I was seated at a table. The shop opened on July 1st, and June 25th was a pre-opening. The menu includes "My Strawberry" (1,500 yen), "My Peach Tea" (1,600 yen), "Choco Banana Cream" (1,200 yen), "My Zunda" (1,800 yen), and "My Tomato Pasta" (1,000 yen). I ordered "My Strawberry" (1,500 yen). The pre-opening prices were a bit cheaper. The shop is run by a couple who quit their jobs to open a shaved ice shop. There are 3 staff members, all of them very attractive. The wait time was reasonable. "My Strawberry" arrived and looked beautiful. It consisted of fresh strawberry sauce, milk espuma, almond crunch, mascarpone cream, and fresh strawberries. The taste was delicious, with a cold shaved ice texture that was different from the current trend but very enjoyable. The milk espuma and mascarpone cream paired well with the strawberries. The portion size was quite large, so it might be challenging to finish alone. Overall, it was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

My Minami-chan Pumpkin Shaved Ice for 1400 yen. Lately, I've been exploring new shaved ice flavors and while there have been some failures, this one passes the test! The milk sauce is lightly sweetened and not too heavy, which is nice. It's small with just pumpkin cream and seeds inside, so the price may be a bit high.

I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from a friend. I ordered "My Fig" for 1800 yen, which came with fig sauce, white sesame tofu cream, smoked salmon marinade, cashew nuts, cut figs on the side, and balsamic soy sauce. Dill was sprinkled on top of the salmon. I enjoyed changing up the flavors by drizzling balsamic soy sauce on the white sesame tofu cream and smoked salmon marinade. The ice was very soft and fluffy, and there were chunks of cut figs inside. The fig sauce was delicious, and I was very satisfied with the shaved ice that felt like a meal. I would love to visit again to try out other flavors.

I visited a small restaurant after seeing Nagasaka Mago's exhibition at Mitsukoshi. It was located along the Metropolitan Expressway, not in a back alley as I had thought. The place had 6 counter seats and 2 small tables for 2 people. I ordered the "My Strawberry" shaved ice (1500 yen), which consisted of fresh strawberry sauce, milk espuma, almond crunch, mascarpone cream, and fresh strawberries. The ice was finely textured and fluffy. The creamy topping and sweet-sour strawberry sauce complemented each other well, with the crunch adding a nice touch. The fresh strawberries seemed more suitable for jam than for direct consumption. The owner, who was the only one making shaved ice, took some time to prepare it, but it was understandable. However, having a staff member standing idle in front of me made me feel a bit uncomfortable, as if I was being watched. The young couple running the place seemed to be working hard, so I want to support them.

Chocolate Banana Cream ¥1200 Banana sauce, milk espresso, crunch, almond slices, mascarpone cream, chocolate cream, cocoa powder, sliced bananas The milk base is half fluffy and the ice base is half, but the banana sauce and chocolate cream are quite sweet, so it felt a bit sweet. It was delicious with the addition of bananas to the tiramisu-like taste. It was much more filling than it looks. The rich banana flavor paired well with the cocoa. Waited outside for 20 minutes, inside for 40 minutes. Shaving was too slow.

Along the unattractive buildings lining National Route 4 (Showa Street), a shaved ice shop called "My Shaved Ice." opened in July 2023! The owners, who quit their jobs to open a shaved ice shop, had been counting down to the opening on Instagram since June. The wife, who had eaten a lot of shaved ice, wanted to create the best shaved ice, so she worked with her husband, a Japanese cuisine chef, to come up with recipes for the shop. When I passed by after lunch on a weekday, the shop was bustling with women. The opening hours are from 11:30 to 18:30, so when I went back a little after 6 pm, I found out that the last order was at 6 pm. I managed to make it just before 6 pm on another day. There were pictures of shaved ice on the outdoor signboard. My Strawberry - 1,500 yen My Peach Tea - 1,600 yen Chocolate Banana with Cream - 1,200 yen My Zunda (Edamame) - 1,800 yen My Tomato Pasta - 1,000 yen It's more affordable than Tokyo Shave Ice Ancredore in Suidobashi that I visited the other day. The clean interior has a counter with 6 seats and 2 two-seater tables. The husband and a female staff member were managing the shop. The beautiful mom from the other day wasn't there, but there was a different type of beautiful female staff member. I paid at the entrance and went inside. I ordered "My Strawberry" (1,500 yen). The husband carefully made each one. Since there were two people ahead of me, it took 14 minutes for "My Strawberry" to be ready. It arrived on a round wooden tray, covered with a rich red strawberry sauce over fluffy shaved ice. On top, there was milk espuma, almond crunch, and fresh strawberries. I dug in with the golden spoon from the side. The mascarpone cream had seeped into the ice, creating a delicious balance of cream and strawberry. The crunch of the almonds added a nice touch. Despite eating quickly, it didn't give me a brain freeze. It was a delightful experience.

Husband works at a restaurant (looks a bit like Seiichi Tanabe), and wife is a pharmacist (looks a bit like Masami Nagasawa). The two of them opened a shaved ice specialty shop in July 2023. I recently visited a nearby restaurant called "Umi no Sakana Sho," and it caught my attention. "Umi no Sakana Sho" had a long line, and I had to wait for an hour. So, to cool off with some shaved ice, I decided to check out this place. The shop is located facing a main street under the highway. When I arrived around 11:45, there were four women in line, so I asked the last person if I could join, and she said yes. The line extended northward, towards the street. The way the line was set up was along the sidewalk, not towards the shop, but towards the main street. Luckily, there was shade from the ginkgo trees. As I waited, another woman lined up behind me. Everyone except me was a woman. We entered the shop a little after 12 pm. Of course, the interior was too clean. As soon as we entered, we placed our orders and paid (cash only). I asked if they offered half-and-half, but they said they didn't. I ordered my peach tea (¥1600). They first served "cold water," but the pot on the table had "hot tea" in it. Very thoughtful, like Ishida Mitsunari. My peach tea arrived. On top was a dice-shaped peach compote, followed by milk foam. Underneath, the peach sauce overflowed onto the ice. I tried it, and it had a fluffy, chilled nectar with plenty of fruit, showing their dedication to quality ingredients. I wondered where the tea element was, and it was hidden in the center. Mixing it all together, it transformed into my peach tea. Even if my mouth got too cold, the hot tea revived the flavor. Finally, I drank the sherbet-like juice left in the bowl, and I was completely satisfied. I feel cooler now! What do you think of shaved ice over 1000 yen? The line was also forming, and the key to success lies in the shaved ice that doesn't make you think "just once" or "just for summer."

Visited around 3:45 pm on a Sunday in August, with 2 groups waiting for about 15 minutes. My Zunda was ¥1,800. The Zunda sauce has a fun texture with small bits, allowing the taste of the ingredients to come through directly. The gentle sweetness of the corn sauce inside and the exquisite taste of the tofu cream with a hint of Japanese influence are both great. The restaurant was open from 2 pm, and there was a sudden heavy rain, so we arrived when it was full. However, after us, there were no more lines, and by around 4:30 pm, empty seats started to appear.

It was disappointing that the strawberries were almost sold out, but the peach tea was also delicious. The sauce, espuma, and cream all had a natural sweetness, creating a sophisticated flavor. It was my first time trying such a trendy shaved ice, and I can see why everyone loves it. Tomorrow, it seems like there will be a TV interview, so the restaurant may become even more popular.

I visited a new restaurant that opened in July this year for the first time. I walked there from Coredo Nihonbashi. The tender peach and the frothy tea inside were very delicious. On the way back, I walked to Akihabara. I think it's a strength that you can access it from various stations.

My shaved ice. Iwamoto-cho / Kanda - My Strawberry. ¥1,500 On this day, I went to "My Shaved Ice." to enjoy delicious shaved ice. This shop, run by a former chef husband and a former pharmacist wife, opened on July 1, 2023. Since then, it has become very popular and a hot topic on Instagram. They use natural ice from the Southern Alps brewery Hachigi, which results in a fluffy ice, and their sauces are made from carefully selected fruits. I visited on a Monday afternoon after rearranging my plans due to the shop being full of mainly women on a Sunday afternoon. When I arrived at 12:30, there were two seats available at the counter next to a fellow salaryman. The shaved ice menu for the day included strawberry, mango, chocolate banana with cream, and zunda, but zunda was sold out, so I ordered My Strawberry. After ordering, it arrived in about 5 minutes! You pay in cash when you order. The shaved ice was generously topped with strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and sliced strawberries. It looked very appetizing like a cake! When I dug in, the ice was indeed very soft and fluffy, melting in my mouth without any ice crystals. The layers of strawberry sauce, whipped cream, and milk at the bottom made every bite delicious. The strawberry sauce was refreshing, and the milk part was not too sweet, leaving a refreshing taste even after finishing it on a hot day! Location: - My Shaved Ice - 10 Kanda Higashimatsumachi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo - 2 minutes walk from Iwamotocho Station (Toei Shinjuku Line, A5 Exit) - 4 minutes walk from Kanda Station East Exit - 5 minutes walk from Akihabara Station Exit 5 - 6 minutes walk from JR Shin-Nihonbashi Station Exit 8 Opening Hours: - 11:30 to 18:00 (Last Order at 18:00) - Closed irregularly Payment: - Cash only - No credit cards or electronic money accepted

I visited a shaved ice specialty shop in Iwamoto-cho. It is located a 2-3 minute walk from Iwamoto-cho Station. I found out about it on Instagram and decided to check it out since it's nearby. It seems like the shop was opened by a couple who left their previous jobs. I went on a Sunday around 4:30 PM and there were 5 customers ahead of me. The interior of the shop is bright and stylish, with indirect lighting creating a nice atmosphere. Today, I tried the following: - "Watashi no Ichigo" (My Strawberry) - ¥1500 - "Watashi no Miyazaki Mango" (My Miyazaki Mango) - ¥2000 I chose the Miyazaki Mango. They were out of mango flesh to put on top, so I got it for ¥1800 with a ¥200 discount. The shaved ice arrived in about 5 minutes. The amount of sauce on top was amazing and luxurious. As you dig in, you find sauce injected inside as well. On top, there was mascarpone cream. Even without the mango flesh, it was incredibly satisfying and rich. They use seasonal ingredients for their shaved ice, so I won't get tired of it anytime soon. Strawberries are available all year round. This is the perfect place to visit in the summer. Sometimes there can be a line, so timing is important. It's a bit pricey for shaved ice, but it's so delicious that I will definitely come back again. Thank you for the meal!

The interior of the shop is stylish but very small. There are only two seats for two people and counter seats. The owner works alone, so there may be a wait when it's crowded. It was a scorching hot day, but the air conditioning wasn't working, so it was hot. The chairs were high and uncomfortable to sit in, and there was no place to even put a bag. I have a large bag, so I had to put it on my lap, making it difficult to eat. I had the mango shaved ice. The mango sauce was plentiful and delicious. However, I think 2000 yen is too expensive. If it were a bit more reasonable, I would consider going back.

In Tokyo, more and more shaved ice shops are opening one after another. This shop opened in July 2023 and seems to be run by a couple who quit their jobs to start a shaved ice business. The shop has a very clean and lovely atmosphere. The menu is displayed with photos in front of the shop and can also be viewed on Instagram. I chose "Boku no Zunda" which uses zunda (sweetened edamame paste). The green zunda sauce is chunky, with yellow corn sauce inside. The white cream on top is soy milk cream, sprinkled with soybean flour. Since the base is milk, it's quite sweet. The ice melts relatively quickly. When I visited around 2 pm on a weekday, it wasn't crowded. I later saw on their story that they provide mango shaved ice using Miyazaki mangoes, even at a loss. I wish I had tried that too. The average price of shaved ice is increasing rapidly. It seems that the creators want to provide high-quality shaved ice using good ingredients. Even in newly opened shops, the price is close to 2000 yen. Perhaps there is demand for it. I personally think the trend of high-priced shaved ice started with "Kurogi" in the University of Tokyo, but what do you think?

This is a review from someone who usually doesn't eat shaved ice. Visited on a weekday evening, with about half of the seats occupied. It's about 6-7 minutes from Kanda Station or Akihabara, with Akihabara feeling closer. Maybe around 3 minutes from Iwamotocho? I decided to visit after seeing their Instagram, where the couple who left their jobs to open the shop posted their journey, which I found heartwarming and inspiring. Upon opening the sliding door (customers seemed unsure whether to push or pull, so I thought I'd mention it), I was greeted by a clean and cute interior. It's recommended to decide on your order from the menu outside before going in since payment is made upfront. I ordered the "My Strawberry" for 1500 yen. Currently, they only accept cash. The owner meticulously prepares each order. I thought it might take a while, but it was served in less than 10 minutes. I personally don't eat shaved ice because I get cold easily. I was a bit nervous, but they provided warm tea, which put me at ease. The strawberry sauce was generously drizzled, with a rich aroma like strawberry jam. Inside the tangy ice, there was a cheese espuma and crushed nuts, resembling a shortcake. The cross-section was beautiful. At the beginning, the coldness startled me, but I got used to it after eating about half, and I comfortably finished it in about 20 minutes. The shaved ice was delicious, but I was also touched by the hard work of the young couple and felt the urge to support them, so I'll check their Instagram and visit again. Reservations are not accepted, but they allow for takeout. Weekday evenings are recommended, and the menu changes occasionally. Looking forward to it!

Iwamoto Town's new shaved ice shop, which opened on July 1, 2023, is run by a couple who quit their jobs to start the business. The process leading up to the opening, as well as directions to the shop, are clearly posted on Instagram, so it's interesting to check it out. They offer four types of shaved ice, and there is also a pasta dish on the menu. I ordered the "My Strawberry" for 1,500 yen. Unfortunately, mango was sold out that day. The fluffy ice was topped with fresh strawberry sauce, milk espuma, almond crunch, mascarpone cream, and fresh strawberries. It was delicious and beautifully presented. It's great that the price is reasonable compared to some places that charge around 2,000 yen for similar shaved ice. They only accept cash for now, but they plan to start accepting cashless payments around November. The wife and a part-time worker handle the service, while the husband makes the ice. They provide excellent service, and the warm tea on the table is a nice touch to counter the cold from the shaved ice. I'm looking forward to trying other menu items as they continue to develop. I hope they come up with a peach shaved ice next! This is definitely a promising new spot.

I went to this newly opened restaurant to say hello to the owner, whom I know. The food was undeniably delicious, not just because I know the owner. They use plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to create luxurious sweet sauces. I tried the melon dish, and the rich sauce made with both red and green melon felt like eating the fruit itself. The menu changes based on the ingredients available, so you can enjoy different dishes each time you visit. Although they have just started, there is still room for improvement, but the dedicated couple running the restaurant are likely to become popular in no time. They actively update their Instagram with information on available seats and daily menus, so it's a good idea to check before going.

I visited around 4:00 PM on July 6, 2023. I ordered two shaved ice desserts. "My Strawberry" was sweet and sour, with smooth mascarpone cream and milk espuma that smelled great and tasted delicious. "My Miyazaki Mango" had sweet mangoes that paired well with the cream and espuma. Definitely worth a visit.

I had the strawberry kakigori and tomato pasta. First, I tried the tomato pasta. It was incredibly delicious, one of the best pastas I've ever had. I was surprised that I could enjoy such a tasty pasta at a kakigori shop during lunchtime. The strawberry kakigori had a delicious mascarpone cream and plenty of fresh strawberry sauce in the ice, making it enjoyable until the last bite!

Shaved ice with peaches and black tea for 1600 yen. The atmosphere of the shop is nice, with a refreshing interior design based on white. The shaved ice is made by stacking layers of ice and then filling them with syrup, fruits, and condensed milk, before pouring peach sauce on top and adding whipped cream and finely chopped peaches as a finishing touch. The whole process is done right in front of the counter, so you can see everything being made. The taste was quite sweet, possibly because they put on a bit too much syrup each time, but it balanced out nicely as the ice melted. The amount of syrup made the ice melt quickly, so towards the end, it felt like drinking the melted mixture rather than eating. It would be nice if there was still something enjoyable after it all melted. Since they seem to pay attention to the ingredients, highlighting that aspect more would be even better. I think it would be good to indicate the level of sweetness on the menu, as it may vary depending on the item. There is room for improvement, so I look forward to what they will do in the future.
