I feel like it used to be a different izakaya before, but now it seems to focus on sushi and oden. I visited for lunch. The interior of the restaurant had a few counter seats and mainly table seats, with many group customers. The menu includes various options such as pickled rice bowl, fish set meal, and fried chicken set meal. I decided to order the daily pickled rice bowl for 1,400 yen. It came with many side dishes and seaweed rice. The pickled fish included white fish, salmon, and minced tuna, served with broth. The staff recommended finishing with ochazuke. The oden had three types including boiled egg, which complemented the meal well. I would like to try it for dinner as well, as it seems that sushi and oden are their specialties in the evening.

I visited the restaurant "And" in the alley of Kanda Ogawamachi. The vertical sign above the storefront reads "Sushi and Oden." The storefront also displays "Sushi and Yakitori," indicating that sushi is the main dish and both oden and yakitori are delicious as well. The main lunch menu seems to be the "Tsuke Set Meal," available in three types: regular, deluxe, and special deluxe. Other attractive options include "Karaage, discounted oden, grilled fish, Negitoro chirashi, yakitori donburi, curry udon, eel and toro donburi," all of which are appealing choices. Additionally, there are offerings like "Cold Gotou Udon with Grilled Mackerel, Weekly Set Meal, Summer Vegetable Curry," making it difficult for customers to choose. I ordered the "Yakitori Donburi Set Meal for 1,000 yen," expecting a rice bowl with grilled chicken skewers, but it arrived in an "Oju" (tiered lacquer box) instead. The center of the Oju contained a beautiful egg yolk. The rice was topped with pieces of grilled chicken without skewers. I scooped up the rice, chicken, and egg yolk with the rice paddle into a bowl. The flavor of the liver spread in my mouth, followed by the delicious taste of the charcoal-grilled chicken. The cartilage was crunchy, and I enjoyed tasting various parts like the thigh, chicken skin, etc. The rice soaked in the sauce was also tasty. The oden broth was flavorful and had a strong acidity, possibly from umeboshi plum. The combination of bonito broth and umeboshi's acidity was exquisite. I am now curious about the discounted oden set meal. After eating the full Oju, I was completely satisfied with the Yakitori Donburi.

When I was younger, I used to be summoned by my affiliated labor union to take a day off and attend a gathering of the upper organization of the affiliated union on May Day. I have memories of this from my first job in Fukuoka and my second job in Nagoya. Although the unions were not very strong, I had a valuable experience of participating in labor movements. Especially during my time in Fukuoka, I made connections with people from other local unions belonging to the same upper organization, and we even traveled to Yufuin and Okinawa together, which are great memories. This year, the May Day central event for Rengo was held on April 29th, and the central event for Zenroren was on May 1st. Due to the pandemic and the self-restraint from large gatherings, it had been a while since a full-scale event like this was held. However, the coverage and interest in the event seemed to have decreased compared to the past, with even major newspapers like the Nikkei Shimbun not featuring any May Day-related articles. As for me, after my time in Nagoya, I had a 2-year temporary transfer and a 4-year assignment in the personnel department (non-union), and eventually became a manager, switching to the management side. Looking back now, labor movements seem like a passing phase, but they were also intense and meaningful. On this day, in the middle of Golden Week, I had to go to work, and after finishing my morning tasks smoothly, I decided to have lunch at a relatively new restaurant that opened on November 17, 2022, in the southeastern area of Ogawamachi intersection called "Sushi and Oden And." The restaurant is operated by TEAM SUPER BEST Co., Ltd., led by Mr. Yuta Yamamoto, who also served as the representative of the Diamond Magic Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of DD Holdings. Despite facing challenges like food poisoning incidents during his time at Diamond Magic, Mr. Yamamoto founded TEAM SUPER BEST in October 2020 with the ideal of learning from success and failures and fighting alongside more comrades. The company currently operates three "Sushi and Oden And" brand restaurants, including the Ogawamachi store (opened on November 9, 2022) and the Bakurocho store (opened in March 2023). Additionally, in April 2023, they opened a second brand called "Sushi and Oden And Stand" in Shinbashi (Sushi and Oden And Stand Shinbashi store), and on May 10th, they opened a second Shinbashi store (Sushi and Oden And Shinbashi 2nd store). This rapid expansion may seem like a result of DD Holdings training, but considering that TEAM SUPER BEST was founded based on experiences of success and failures, they are likely to avoid making the same mistakes. The restaurant is located in a narrow alley near the Ogawamachi intersection on Yasukuni Street, close to the famous Tsukemen restaurant "Tsukemen Kinryu." The location may be a bit hard to find, but the map on Tabelog is accurate. I visited around 12:40 pm, and although it was a bit late for lunch, the restaurant had a moderate level of customers. The seating felt a bit cramped, with 5 counter seats in the front and 27 table seats in the back area where you take off your shoes before entering. The lunch menu offered a lineup of today's marinated rice bowls in regular, medium, and special grades (priced from @1,200 to @1,800), as well as 7 lunch set menus that resembled izakaya dishes (priced from @1,000 to @1,100), all of which included a side of oden.

Today's lunch was at Ogawa-cho Sushi and Oden & Seafood Pickled Bowl, but when I went in, it turned out to be Chicken Karaage instead. The Chicken Karaage was a large size with four pieces, quite a generous portion! It came with a side of oden and miso soup. This meal will definitely leave you feeling full. However, the Chicken Karaage was a bit disappointing as the coating was too hard and lacked juiciness. For 1,000 yen, the portion size was good, but I probably won't order it again. I regret not getting the pickled bowl, it was probably tastier.

Today I came here for lunch again. I still think the premium marinated bowl is delicious, but today when I ordered it, the rice had less vinegar than usual! It wasn't vinegary rice, which was disappointing. Still, this marinated bowl is really delicious. I'll have one bowl of marinated bowl and then have a second bowl with dashi tea poured over it. It's a taste that becomes addictive!

I happened to visit this place for lunch two days in a row♪ I ended up at Sushi and Oden And again♪ The sushi rice at a sushi restaurant is always delicious! And, excuse me for saying this, but maybe they offer sushi using leftover ingredients from the night before and flavorful oden at a discounted price for lunch the next day! That's just my interpretation and imagination♪ The sushi rice pairs well with the toppings, making it a great combination! Putting the toppings on the sushi rice in a bowl and eating it is nice! For the second bowl, you pour the toppings, condiments, and dashi from the teapot over it, and enjoy it like a tea-flavored dish♪ This kind of lunch style seems rare but actually quite good. Oh, maybe Tsujihan in Nihonbashi or Kagurazaka is nearby as well? Anyway, I think this way of eating is really good and I might get addicted to it. I want to keep coming back until I try all the lunch menu items.

Today, I went to my recent favorite restaurant, Sushi and Oden And in Kanda Ogawamachi. It's been my recent go-to spot! The evenings here are just fantastic! Sushi, oden, and yakitori - with these, I feel like I don't need anything else. They also have all-you-can-drink options, which is great. The lunch menu includes options like pickled fish bowl and oden set for 1,000 yen, which is very cost-effective. I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer for a while!

Recently, I have been exploring Yanaka, Nezu, and Yushima for lunch, but I decided to return to the Kanda area after a long time. I stumbled upon a nice-looking restaurant in a back alley near Ogawamachi Station that I had never noticed before. Upon researching, I found out that it is a hybrid izakaya where you can enjoy both sushi and oden. The menu offers a variety of combinations of dishes, allowing you to enjoy different pairings. The atmosphere is relaxing and the restaurant exudes a sense of comfort. It is located in a dimly lit area, with a quiet and traditional interior design. The restaurant has been open for about two months and it incorporates various elements symbolized by the word "and". Despite my initial skepticism about the combination of sushi and oden, I decided to give it a try due to the inviting atmosphere created by the lanterns at the entrance. The restaurant has a counter with an L-shaped layout near the entrance, with the kitchen located within. There is also a tatami seating area at the back, which is a relief for those who find sitting on the floor uncomfortable. The lunch menu starts from 1,000 yen, with a focus on fish and oden. I decided to choose between a special oden dish and the daily marinated set meal. After some deliberation, I opted for the marinated set meal priced at 1,200 yen. The food took a while to arrive, but I enjoyed observing the young staff consisting of two women and one man managing the restaurant. The traditional Japanese ambiance of the restaurant, which seemed to retain some elements of the previous establishment, added to its charm. When the food arrived, I was delighted to see the flavorful kombu rice served in a decorative box. The portion was generous, and the rice had a subtle kombu flavor. The marinated set meal included various types of fish, with options to add toppings like negitoro and ikura for an additional cost. The side dishes featured octopus, chikuwa, and ganmo oden, as well as pickles and miso soup made with a rich broth. I appreciated the attention to detail and homemade feel of the dishes. To finish the meal, I poured the sesame and ginger from the suribachi, and then added the dashi from the choshi to create a delicious ochazuke. I wished I had more rice to enjoy with the toppings. I also observed other customers ordering the "special oden" dish, which seemed to come in a substantial portion. The "special oden" is said to include items with intense coloring. Overall, the oden looked appetizing as well. As it passed noon, more customers started to arrive at the inconspicuous location. Before leaving, I picked up a takeaway coffee placed outside the restaurant. This hidden gem of a restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Thank you for the meal.

In November 2022, Sushi and Oden And opened on the site of the former Kyushu Nabe House KATETE in Kanda Midoricho, serving dishes like Sichuan-style consistent and Italian-style food presentation by Kozo Shimabukuro Hanano Wan. This establishment is led by Yuta Yamamoto of TEAM SUPER BEST Co., Ltd., with other branches such as Sushi and Oden And Shinkawa and Sushi and Oden And Bakurocho. Yuta Yamamoto is known for his previous role as the president of Golden Magic Co., Ltd., which was absorbed by Diamond Dining Co., Ltd. in September 2020. After leaving Golden Magic, Yamamoto established TEAM SUPER BEST Co., Ltd. in October 2020. The name of the company is derived from his favorite album by CHAGE and ASKA. The "& And" in the restaurant name has five origins according to the official website: the combination of sushi "and" oden, the comforting taste and atmosphere, the quiet atmosphere like a lantern in a dark place, the progression from the first store to the second store, and the wish for Chage & Aska to make a comeback. During the visit around 7 p.m., the interior of the restaurant had a counter with five seats in the front and about six table seats in the back. There were about five staff members managing the place. I ordered a Hoppy set as the beer was a bit expensive, along with a side dish of pickled vegetables and bonito. I also tried various oden dishes such as egg, burdock roll, hanpen, and ganmodoki. The oden had a rich flavor and the ingredients were well-cooked. I also had sushi dishes like tuna red meat, homemade mackerel, and grilled squid. I enjoyed these dishes with sake and hoppy, and the total bill came to 4,100 yen including taxes.

The other day, I visited a restaurant that serves sushi, oden, and lunch. I found out they were serving lunch, so I decided to try it out. When I arrived around noon, the place was already about 70% full and quickly became packed. It's really popular, and I can see why. I ordered the special sashimi lunch set for 1,800 yen. It had a variety of marinated fish topped with fatty tuna and salmon roe. The rice was vinegared, and you pour the broth over the marinated fish in a separate bowl to enjoy it as ochazuke. It was delicious! The lunch menu has a lot of options that I want to try, so I think I'll be coming back here often!

Today, we had a private drinking party at a newly opened restaurant called Sushi and Oden And! The name is great for a night out with the guys! The restaurant is located in a hidden alley where you wouldn't find it unless you knew about it. It has cute illuminations outside. Inside, there are raised tatami tables, no private rooms, but since it's a new place, it's very clean and has a fresh feel to it. We chose the 5,000 yen all-you-can-drink course. The table had a mini oden set, which got us all excited. The oden was delicious with big daikon, chikuwa, mochi pouch, and ganmo in a tasty broth. We also had sizzling squid salted roe on a hot stone, 3 pieces of sushi for starters, and yakitori in a platter of chicken, leeks, and meatballs. The crab cream croquette was amazing, especially the sauce. We also enjoyed the dashimaki tamago, mochi and shirako mitarashi dango. The all-you-can-drink options included beer, lemon sour, and honey lemon sour, all with freshly grated lemon, though the bitterness from the peel was a bit of a downside. Overall, the food and drinks were great, and we found a fantastic restaurant with excellent value for money.

I wanted to go to the same place where katete used to be, but when I visited, I found out that the store had changed. It opened last month. The oden, sashimi, and other appetizers were all very delicious, and all four of us were very satisfied. The Goto udon we had at the end was also delicious, with slightly thinner noodles dipped in egg. We also bought a bottle of black mist shochu, and the service was exceptional. The owner wasn't usually there, but when we visited, he was very entertaining to talk to. The female staff were also friendly and easy to talk to. We bought an additional bottle, and we will definitely visit again.

It was lucky to jump in on the same day. The restaurant was full of reservation customers. The food is delicious and carefully made! I wanted to eat a little more of everything. The price may be higher if you enjoy the food more than the drinks.
