First visit. I ordered the "sauteed small clams and eggs" for lunch. The seasoning is strong. I think they use good quality ingredients. The small clams were delicious. It's Sunday, but there are many customers, including office workers. It's not in a busy area, so I think it's a good place for people who want to boost their stamina.

I went there on a weekday before 1 PM during summer vacation. The seating was about 50% full. They have table seats so it's suitable for families with children. I ordered the fried rice, Chinese rice bowl with dumplings, and miso tanmen. The dumplings were surprisingly big and had a strong seaweed flavor. The fried rice was light but I personally liked it. The miso tanmen had a gentle taste. The location is good and if I have the chance to come nearby again, I would like to visit.

I arrived at Takanawa-dai Station at noon. I felt like grabbing a bite to eat, and remembered this restaurant that I've never been to before, despite living nearby for 17 years. I decided to go in. The interior was spacious, and they had various affordable lunch menu options. I decided to order fried rice and dumplings separately, which wasn't the cheapest option, but still reasonable. The fried rice was 750 yen, and the dumplings were 550 yen. The dumplings took 7-8 minutes to cook, but I wasn't in a hurry so it was fine. Luckily, they didn't say they couldn't serve lunch anymore. After a short wait, the fried rice arrived first. It was a huge portion, definitely more than the usual amount. I asked if I could get a takeout container, which cost 8 yen. While waiting for the container, the dumplings arrived. They were also quite large, so I was glad I had asked for a container. I ended up taking 60% of the fried rice and 3 dumplings home. Even the remaining fried rice was more than a half portion at a regular restaurant. The fried rice was simple but satisfying, with pork, carrots, eggs, and green onions. The texture was slightly moist and crispy, which I liked. The seasoning was a bit lacking with just salt and pepper. The accompanying soup was delicious, with snow peas, tofu, carrots, and beaten eggs creating a thick consistency. The dumplings had a good balance of meat and vegetables, but were a bit too garlicky for my taste. However, the homemade-like thick and chewy skin was enjoyable. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. I will definitely visit again in the future.

I visited Hanazen for dinner on this day. I was thirsty so I had a Qingdao beer. I had a stir-fry of pork and thick fried tofu with plenty of vegetables. Since the amount of rice was large, I asked for a smaller portion in advance. It came with simmered hijiki seaweed, egg soup, and almond jelly. The side dishes were full of vegetables and the thick fried tofu was amazing. The set meal is a great deal at 850 yen. The taste is so good that I keep coming back for more.

Visited the restaurant with 5 people on Sunday at 1 pm. We made a reservation just in case, but I think we could have gotten in without one. Even though it was lunch time, we were served from the regular menu. We had stir-fried celery and squid, stir-fried blue-stemmed vegetables, stir-fried eggplant with miso, plate of wontons, steamed chicken, shrimp fried rice (large portion), a bottle of Shaoxing wine. The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the seasoning was just right. The chicken was tender and juicy, although the oil-drizzled chicken was average. The portion of the egg and chive dish was huge! We ate to our hearts' content for 8400 yen for 5 people! Unbelievable value for money in Minato-ku! And everything was delicious! The staff may not be the friendliest, but it's a very satisfying restaurant. If you live nearby, definitely check it out! I will definitely go again, haha.

I arrived at 11:55 on a regular day and ordered at the counter. As I waited, more and more customers came in. This area has almost no other dining options, so I had no choice but to wait. The place quickly filled up. I ordered miso tanmen, which was served in a large bowl. The broth had a mild miso flavor and was delicious. There were a lot of mushrooms in the bowl, which was a bit surprising, but the portion size was generous. The noodles were very thin, which was different for a tanmen dish but made a strong impression. It would be nice to have some pickled vegetables on a hot day. Thank you for the meal.

I wandered around around Takanawa-dai station looking for something refreshing to eat after a heavy yakiniku meal the night before, but couldn't find anything good. I ended up coming here and ordered a simple ramen for 600 yen. It arrived quickly with plenty of bean sprouts and two slices of chashu. It had a simple appearance with seaweed, greens, and green onions. The broth didn't seem very strong, but it had a gentle flavor. The saltiness was not overpowering. The noodle portion was moderate and was enough to satisfy my hunger. Overall, it was a simple ramen without any standout features, more like a typical ramen from a local Chinese restaurant. If you're looking for something nostalgic, this might be a good choice.

In November 2021, I visited "Kagen" located right above the Takanawadai Station on the Toei Asakusa Line. They offer authentic Chinese cuisine for a reasonable price with generous portions for lunch, which I appreciate. Today, I went with a friend and here is the review of our visit. The daily specials were as follows:
1. ¥800 - Stir-fried pea shoots, egg, and pork
2. ¥850 - Stir-fried chicken and eggplant
3. ¥850 - Spicy stir-fried pork intestines
4. ¥850 - Stir-fried chicken and garlic sprouts
5. ¥900 - Shrimp and cabbage noodles with half fried rice
Rice refills for dishes 1 to 4 were free, and extra servings cost ¥100. My friend ordered dish 2, while I chose dish 1. We arrived right at opening, and a few customers trickled in afterwards. The food was served promptly in 4-5 minutes. First impressions were impressive, especially with the generous rice portions (I asked for a smaller portion). The meal included the main dish, egg drop soup, pickled red radish, and almond jelly for dessert. The flavors were surprisingly light on salt, making it a dish I could enjoy daily.

My partner and I were invited to visit a restaurant that my partner randomly walked into. It's located near our workplace, but I was hesitant to go in because the sign didn't catch my attention. However, my partner, who is indifferent to food, thinks it's silly to travel by train just to eat. I, on the other hand, love trying new foods and couldn't understand his perspective. Despite my reservations, we ended up at the restaurant my partner chose, and my bad feeling was right. The staff were from a different continent and took a while to come take our order. To play it safe, we avoided the typical Chinese menu items and opted for Sichuan-style steamed chicken (not actually drooling chicken) and five-ingredient ramen, along with a mega highball. The mega highball came first, but it was too weak, with only a fraction of whiskey in the glass. Next, the Sichuan-style steamed chicken arrived, but as you can see from the photo, it was not drooling chicken. It was a fake, slightly spicy sesame paste called Bang Bang Ji made by a Japanese person. It lacked the spiciness of chili oil and was just sweet. The five-ingredient ramen had a bland base soup, watery vegetables, and lacked the taste of oyster sauce, tasting only of soy sauce. Even my partner, who usually eats anything, stopped eating. We left more than half of the food uneaten and decided to leave.

Today, I ordered the lunch set of Mapo Tofu Noodles and Fried Rice. The fried rice came out first, as always. The fried rice here is always delicious, with a nice texture. The Mapo Tofu Noodles were spicier and richer than I expected, but the lingering spiciness was really tasty. The spicy and thick soup was delicious. It was just the right level of spiciness for me, and I really enjoyed the flavor. I thought that even on a cold day, I would still want to eat this spicy Mapo Tofu Noodles, and even in the middle of summer (laughs).

I still have a New Year's holiday hangover and it's cold when I walk, so I ended up craving for warm ramen again. Today, I had the seafood tanmen. The noodles were voluminous and there were plenty of my favorite squid, shrimp, and other toppings. The soup was delicious too. I'm satisfied and full again today. Having a warm ramen for lunch makes me feel energetic and ready to tackle the afternoon. Thank you for the meal☆

Today, I was very hungry because I didn't have breakfast in the morning, so I decided to come here. Normally, they only have vegetable salt ramen, but today they had a limited edition menu of miso ramen with fried rice, so I ordered that without hesitation. The ramen had lots of vegetables and the miso flavor was rich but not too spicy, and the large amount of noodles was easy to slurp up. I was able to eat plenty of vegetables and warm up my body quickly. The fried rice was also filled with lots of ingredients and had a delicious flavor, leaving me very full. Thank you for the meal today! ☆

This is a popular Chinese restaurant with delicious and filling dishes, so I often come here. On this day, I had a set meal for 850 yen including tax, which was a perfect balance of flavors with chicken and cashew nuts stir-fry, and plenty of vegetables. It came with homemade almond jelly. It also included egg drop soup and strangely, simmered hijiki seaweed, and there was plenty of rice to fill up on.

The volume set meal of the day was mapo tofu. The mapo tofu, a nationally popular dish, was delicious as it was prepared by a chef specializing in authentic Chinese cuisine. Despite the generous portion of rice, the price was affordable at 850 yen including tax, which I liked. While waiting and enjoying a beer, the mapo tofu arrived shortly and it tasted great. The rice was also delicious, and there was plenty of mapo tofu, almost leaving leftovers, but I managed to finish it all without worrying about the calories.

Today I ordered the Gomoku Ramen. I was really hungry, so I decided to come here and have a hearty meal (lol). Last time, I ordered the noodle and fried rice set but couldn't finish it, so this time I just ordered the noodles. The Gomoku Ramen that came out was indeed a big bowl with plenty of toppings and noodles. I put in all my effort and finished almost all of it (lol). It's still hot out, so I ate while sweating, but it was delicious and the portion was generous, so whenever I'm really hungry, this is the place to go. Thank you for the meal today as well.

Today I ordered the daily set meal E, which was the spicy seafood tanmen with half-fried rice. The spicy seafood tanmen had a lot of my favorite squid and shrimp, and was very flavorful. It started off with just the right amount of spiciness, but as I kept eating, it got spicier and I ended up eating it without too much soup towards the end (lol). The delicious half-fried rice that came with it was a lifesaver (lol). The portion of noodles was quite large, so unfortunately I couldn't finish it all (sorry). My colleague told me that the noodles here are always served in generous portions. Next time, I think I'll just order the noodles on their own. But the fried rice was so tasty, it's hard to resist (lol). Everything on the lunch menu is a great deal, all for under a thousand yen. It's delicious, and next time I'll make sure to come when I'm really hungry. Thank you for the meal☆

I chose a set meal with the main dish being a stir-fry of plenty of eggplants and small pieces of chicken seasoned with black pepper. It looks like sweet and sour pork, but it actually consists of eggplants, onions, carrots, bell peppers, and chicken. The taste is more sweet and savory than sour. They can adjust the amount of rice for you. The set meal comes with Chinese soup, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly, making it a great deal.

The dish had plenty of peanuts, finely chopped cucumbers, lots of toppings, and plenty of noodles. The soup was also generous. There aren't many places that offer cold tantanmen, so I was satisfied. The prices are reasonable, so I often visit this restaurant. It's a popular Chinese restaurant with a wide variety of appetizers and drinks on the menu.

I visited a restaurant called "Chinese Cuisine Kaen" in Takanawa-dai for lunch. Despite the upscale location, the restaurant was surprisingly affordable. They offer lunch sets ranging from 800 yen to 950 yen. I ordered the "Stir-fried Pork, Tomato, and Egg" for 800 yen, which came with a generous portion of rice, soup, and almond jelly. The combination of black fungus, tomato, pork, and egg was excellent. It was a satisfying meal.

Today I had an early lunch at Han En. I arrived at 11:15. I ordered the rice with extra large portion of sweet and sour pork from the lunch menu (800 yen). The rice portion is huge. I took a bite of the sweet and sour pork. Mmm, the flavor is rich and delicious! The rice is disappearing quickly. There is plenty of meat and the vegetables have a nice crunch, making it a really good sweet and sour pork dish. Oh boy, I am full now. Thank you for the meal!
