Last time, I visited this place for the first time at the end of March 2019, so this is my first revisit in over 4 years. A friend who had just returned from overseas wanted to go to Viron for breakfast, so we went. A lot has changed in these 4 years, right? There was also the pandemic, and the nearby Tokyu Department Store has closed down. I arrived 20 minutes early, aiming to be there for the opening at 9 am, as I expected it to be crowded. It was a Saturday, and we were the 9th group in line. I arrived around 8:30, but I had stopped by Don Quijote on the way. Looking back at my previous blog post, it seems I used to come to the shop first, write my name, and then go to Don Quijote. Wow, I was quite efficient back then. When 9 o'clock came, we were called in by the staff in order. It's important to get in during the first wave because otherwise, you might have to wait for about an hour. The menu had expanded to 2 options. A set with lots of bread for 1815 yen or just the baguette for around 1500 yen. I think previously there used to be a lot of bread that you couldn't finish, and you could take some home. It seems that the staff now bring a selection of bread for you to choose from, whereas before there were 2 types. And I think it was 1500 yen before. Well, with inflation and the rising cost of wheat, I guess it can't be helped. A variety of jams and honey still come to the table, which is a delight to see. I smiled just looking at the jams that I wouldn't usually buy. Coffee is also free refills, and the staff come around to top it up frequently. When you stop eating, they ask if you'd like it wrapped up. Last time, there was so much food that I had to take some home, but this time I managed to finish it all. My friend took one item home. The coffee with free refills, the frequent top-ups by the staff, the chatting, it was all satisfying. I noticed some people sitting at the counter alone, so I might come here by myself sometime. Come to think of it, there were about 2 groups with just 1 person on the waiting list. The bread here is really delicious. Thank you for the meal. I had always wanted to try this popular bakery in Shibuya. It's a bit far from the station, and I was hesitant to go if it was crowded, but I finally made it for breakfast with a friend. Since it's a popular place, I wasn't sure what time to arrive to get in on the first round, so I arrived just after 8:30 for the 9 am opening. There was a board at the entrance where you write your name, and I was the first one to do so. Inside the building, there were about 8 round stools lined up, so even if you come early, you can sit there and wait. I wrote my name and then went shopping at Don Quijote, which is open 24 hours. I returned just before 9:05. My friend joined me, and by that time, there were about 5 or 6 groups who had written their names. Everyone tends to stay for a long time, so if you don't get in during the first round, you might have to wait for over an hour. Indeed, the coffee was free refills, and we ended up staying for over an hour. Several groups were seated inside. The staff quickly came over and showed us the morning menu on a blackboard, asking if we were ready to order. Without really looking at the blackboard, I just said yes. So, I had no idea what was going to come out. I'm glad we had decided on the morning set beforehand. I wonder if there are other options available. First, we were served a selection of simple bread and jam. The jam set is so exciting. It's hard to prepare this many types of jam and chocolate at home. There were also several types of peach jam. In addition, the staff brought a basket of bread for us to choose 2 types each. A bread feast. When choosing, it's good to consider whether you want to eat it at home as you can take the bread with you. For example, you might want to bring a croissant home for your husband. When we stopped eating, the staff asked if we wanted to take the leftovers home. Considering the relatively high price of the morning set, I thought scrambled eggs or bacon might be included, but it was just the food mentioned above. The staff came around frequently to refill our coffee, which was nice. The fact that the milk was not in portion packets was also appreciated. I think mornings might be a good time to visit this hidden gem.
