I went to a standing sushi bar for the first time. The Gontanda Battleship in Shinagawa was overflowing with daily specials, and my mouth was filled with a delicious variety of sushi. Great value for money, and the taste was excellent! I thought that if I ever feel like eating sushi alone, I will go to a standing sushi bar.

After lunchtime had passed and it was already 3 PM, I didn't have many options for a late lunch and ended up at a standing sushi bar. I decided to go for the "Shun" set which includes eel (10 pieces) as it was still available until 4 PM. I also ordered a couple more pieces based on my mood. The total came to ¥3010, including the "Shun" set for ¥1000, extra eel for ¥460, mackerel for ¥280, sea urchin for ¥430, and blackthroat seaperch for ¥380. I finished eating in about 20 minutes. As always, it was quick and delicious. While I do enjoy high-end sushi occasionally, it's nice to have a place like this where I can casually drop by and enjoy good sushi at a reasonable price when I suddenly crave it.

I had been curious about this place for a while, and finally went with a senior colleague. They offer set menus or individual items, and all seating is at the counter where you can order directly from the staff. The sushi is served one piece at a time, not in pairs. This time, I ordered the 12-piece set "Miyabi" and also added a few individual items. The individual items come in sets of 2 pieces each. Each piece is small, but considering the price and quality of the fish, it was quite affordable and very delicious. In fact, because the rice portion is small, you can enjoy a variety of different types of sushi. Personally, if you just want to eat what you like, ordering individual items seems to be cheaper in the end (I like cheaper toppings like horse mackerel and ark shell). Next time, I plan to order a variety of individual items instead of a set. Lastly, I felt comfortable dining here as they take hygiene seriously.

Recently, I visited the best fish market in Japan located inside the ticket gate at the station. I was a bit shocked to see them wearing rubber gloves while making sushi, but the freshly made sushi was delicious. It had been a while since I visited the Gotanda branch. At this branch, they made sushi with their bare hands. I'm not sure if this was because the infection control measures had been relaxed, or if they had always made sushi with their bare hands at the Gotanda branch. There were about 12 standing counter seats. It was a special time to drink beer and order your favorite sushi. Ordering directly from the chef in front of you, rather than using QR codes or touch panels, just feels right. It was interesting when a foreigner came in and tried to explain miso soup as "fish head soup," which made me chuckle. Thank you for the meal.

I found the same shop as Shinagawa Station inside Gotanda station! It was nice to be able to eat slowly and it felt good. The taste may be even better than Shinagawa. There were many solo female customers, making it easy to use. I forgot to order the raw octopus with ponzu vinegar...

After work, I saw a long line at the Shinagawa branch, so I hesitated about going to Gotanda, but since there was the same store there, I decided to go. I started with a highball and tamago, then a set of 4 pieces on the right. I received a free roll with LINE registration. I also ate an additional 5 pieces and was satisfied with a full stomach.

Sushi restaurant in front of Gotanda Station where you can eat while standing. It's usually crowded, but this time I was able to get in quickly. The interior is small, with about 7-8 seats. We started with a toast of beer and then placed our order. You can order individual pieces for 280 yen or more, but for items priced at 270 yen or less, you have to order in pairs. We tried the recommended fresh mackerel, which was so good that we had to order more. The set of 3 pieces of shiny fish is a good deal at 470 yen, including kohada, horse mackerel, and marinated mackerel. The fresh scallop was also delicious. We had 2 drinks, ate 7-8 pieces, and the total came to just over 3000 yen, making it an affordable and casual place to visit.

I went to the restaurant a little after 11:00 on Sunday. Although I have been to various locations of Kura Sushi, this was my first time trying their lunch set. They offer three options ranging from 980 yen to 1680 yen. Each set includes 10 pieces of sushi, and in terms of cost performance, the 1680 yen set seemed to be the best value. In addition to the 1680 yen set, I also ordered Yariika soy sauce marinated, Gotanda battleship sushi, and grilled squid with mayonnaise. The grilled squid with mayonnaise, which is the cheapest, was the most delicious. It is a must-try menu item.

The sushi here is good, quite delicious. They have seasonal fish and my personal favorite, the shiny fish set of three pieces, which I always order. It's a satisfying place to quickly fill up on delicious sushi. Even within the same group, I feel like this place is the most delicious, but maybe that's just my imagination. Some items can be ordered in sets of two, but if I could be picky, being able to order everything in sets of one would be even more enjoyable as I could try a variety of nigiri. Thank you for the meal.

I felt like eating seasonal herring sushi and was lured in by the sign. The lunch set included yellowtail, herring, and monkfish liver, a charming lineup. 10 pieces of seasonal sushi for ¥980, which is a great deal. The herring was delicious. It's rare to find herring on the menu, so I was grateful. It was so good that I ordered seconds. I also added the following to my order: seared herring, silver cod, raw mackerel, seared blackthroat seaperch, and medium-fatty tuna nigiri for a total of ¥2680. The blackthroat seaperch and silver cod were just okay, but considering the cost, I was satisfied. The value for money is amazing. It's perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. I'll definitely be back next year.

On a late lunch break on a holiday, I had a strong craving for sushi. However, most places were closed for lunch, except for this chain sushi restaurant. Despite my initial hesitation, I decided to give it a try. The restaurant was quite busy, but after a short wait, I was seated. I ordered my sushi a la carte, with cheaper options coming in sets of 2 pieces each and more expensive options available for individual orders. I had grilled squid, recommended set of the day (flounder with kelp, seared salmon belly, mackerel), hikarimono set (sardine, cured mackerel, kohada), gunkan with sea bream, hand roll with stem wasabi, spear squid, hand roll with burdock root and stem wasabi, and egg. Although I forgot to take pictures, the food was delicious and reasonably priced, especially when paired with a cold beer. Overall, it was a great place to enjoy a quick and satisfying sushi meal!

Invited by my partner for a late lunch in Gotanda. Sushi, ramen, Chinese food, lunch bars... so many choices and so much to look forward to. I was looking for something light and decided to visit this place. One of the charms of this restaurant is the playful interaction with the chef. He explains the unusual types of fish, makes recommendations, and above all, pays attention to the customers' needs. He doesn't miss any small details and prompts orders at just the right moment. Today, with two glasses of draft beer and sushi, I once again enjoyed a "little luxury in everyday life" and spent a relaxing time. Thank you for the meal.

Blog "Tokyu Line, Food Walking" - https://asante.blog/ - On a hot day, I felt like having sushi for lunch so I decided to visit this place. I had been here before they started using Tabelog, and I remembered that the food was affordable and delicious. I visited around 11:30 am on a weekday. When I entered the restaurant, about half of the counter seats were already taken, but I managed to find a spot. I ordered the "Miyabi 13-piece set for 1000 yen" from the lunch menu. While I expected most people to order lunch sets, there were also a few who ordered a la carte dishes. Ordering a la carte for lunch seemed like a fun idea. They quickly served me 4 pieces of sushi with powdered green tea and hot water for self-service tea. The 13 pieces were not all served at once, but rather in a certain order, giving it a freshly made feel, which I liked. As I started eating, I found the sushi to be simple but quite delicious. I usually have mixed feelings about affordable sushi, but this one was not bad, and it made me think that it's been good for over 20 years. Among the 13 pieces, there were 2 gunkan sushi. Even though they were not perfectly shaped or brightly colored, I personally enjoyed the taste. For 1000 yen, I think it was worth it. I will definitely visit again when I feel like having casual sushi. Thank you for the meal.

A standing sushi restaurant located a 2-minute walk from Gotanda Station. I visited for lunch on a weekday and it was quite crowded. You can order individual items, but cheaper options come in sets of 2 pieces. As a first-timer, I wanted to try a variety of dishes, so I chose a 1,000 yen set from the lunch menu. The set called "Gorgeous" included 13 pieces of sushi. The first 4 pieces arrived first. While the price wasn't exceptional, the quality surpassed that of conveyor belt sushi. It took a bit of time for the first 4 pieces to arrive, but after that, they came out quickly. The selection of sushi was well-balanced, with interesting choices like bonito, mackerel, and soy-marinated ark shell sushi rolls. With a miso soup included, the 1,000 yen set could be a good option for a daily lunch.

There is a Sushiro, the best sushi restaurant in Japan, right by Gotanda Station. It is a standing-style counter-only restaurant, but you can enjoy delicious sushi at a reasonable price, and the set comes with miso soup, so it feels like a good deal. Thank you for the meal.

After having a daytime drink with my wife, we decided to have sushi as our second round. The rule at this restaurant is to order in units of 2 pieces, but any topping over 250 yen can be ordered as a single piece. Due to the recent rise in fish prices, this is the policy. I like to order the recommended items from the board and combine them with reasonably priced basic toppings. We ordered 2 pieces each of Spear Squid (100 yen), Fresh Mackerel (250 yen), Boiled Clam (price unknown), Striped Jack (250 yen), Sardine (100 yen), and Upper Conger Eel (200 yen). My favorites of the day were the Fresh Mackerel and Boiled Clam. All the other toppings were also great. Including my wife's order (whitefish, etc.), the total came to 2900 yen for the two of us. We ended up spending a bit more than usual due to feeling generous while drunk, but we were both satisfied with the high quality. We will definitely come back!

Today is a weekday, but it's treated as a holiday because of Golden Week. It's my first time having lunch here on a holiday. There are three lunch menu options, all come with miso soup:
- Maple (10 pieces) for ¥980
- Aoi (10 pieces) for ¥1280
- Botan (10 pieces) for ¥1680
I decided to order Botan. It includes shrimp, white fish, ikura, and nodoguro. The quality of the ingredients is great, and it's amazing that this is under ¥2000. I thought it would go well with sake, so I ordered Hakkaisan for ¥750. It's served in a generous portion in a deep glass. This is also great value for the price.
I also ordered additional items like Anago and Snow Crab, which came to a total of ¥3180. It's standing room only, so you can't really relax, but it's very convenient for a quick and light meal. I'm satisfied once again today.

This is a shop near Gotanda Station that serves standing sushi, and their lunch set is excellent in terms of value! I was hungry, so I ordered the 13-piece lunch set for 1,000 yen. They quickly prepare the sushi and place it on a leaf for you to enjoy. The sushi is freshly made and each piece has a good amount of volume. The mackerel sushi is delicious with just the right amount of fat, and it pairs well with the vinegared rice. The seared bonito has a nice smoky flavor. The tuna sushi has a chewy texture. For 1,000 yen, I have no complaints about the quality and quantity of the sushi. It was a satisfying lunch experience!

I have started a gourmet website for Mitomi Emon. Don't underestimate standing and eating. After all, sushi culture originally started with standing and eating. While high-end sushi restaurants and affordable conveyor belt sushi are thriving, standing and eating is also gaining attention. Today, I will visit the long-established standing sushi restaurant "Sushizushi Nihonichi," which opened its first store in 1989. They have over 30 standing sushi stores, proving the demand for this style. Cheap, fast, and interesting - these are the three charms. With each piece priced at 75 yen, the speed at which the chefs prepare the sushi at the counter is fast. And the non-Edo approach adds an interesting twist. One of these twists is the presence of mayonnaise. The junky taste created by mayonnaise appeals directly to your instincts. Especially the grilled squid with mayonnaise is amazing. The texture of the squid creates time to savor the mayonnaise, while the grilled flavor blends perfectly with the mayonnaise. This is just "amazing" and "unfair." Even though I'm not a mayonnaise lover, I feel like eating a year's worth of mayonnaise today. Grilled salmon with mayonnaise, come on! Grilled cod roe with mayonnaise, come on! I have completely lost my vocabulary from eating too much mayonnaise. It was a sushi restaurant that was cheap, fast, and interesting, or rather, amazing and unfair. Thank you for the meal.

I went during the day and tried the lunch menu and some a la carte dishes. The negitoro was especially delicious. As I was leaving, the chef approached me and we chatted a bit. I thought the chef was very friendly and kind.
