Lunch in early February 2021 (Tuesday). I watched a TV show called "Gekirea-san" a while ago and saved it, it was a cafe located in a bookstore. It seems to be a chain with several stores, and this one was the closest to me, so I decided to check it out. It is located on the 3rd floor of a new commercial facility under Miyashita Park, right after you go up from JR Shibuya Station side. It's amazing that they built a commercial facility under the park in Shibuya. I arrived around 1 pm, and there were about 4-5 people scattered inside. It had a relaxed cafe atmosphere. I ordered at the register, paid upfront, received a number tag, and then waited at my table for the food to arrive. I tried the "Butter Chicken Curry That My Ex-Boyfriend Loved" which had a name that really hits you in the heart. I also added an iced coffee as a drink set. According to the TV show, the developer of this curry spent years researching and developing the recipe because he wanted to be loved by a man in his younger days. The love didn't work out in the end due to various reasons, but the experience led the developer to realize that people don't turn around for simple specs, and this philosophy also applies to running a business. The show portrayed the developer as a love guru, which was quite entertaining. After a short wait, the food arrived with a small side salad. Taking into account all the background information, I tasted the curry. It was delicious! If this casually appeared in my girlfriend's room, I would be surprised, and even if it was served at a cafe without prior information, it would still be impressive. It had a good balance of spices, buttery richness, and tomato umami, making it very easy to eat. Despite the heavy name, it was a light and tasty curry. The spiciness level was around medium. As it was a cafe, the portion size was modest, which was perfect for me as I prefer to eat until I'm 80% full. As an old man, I have learned from various experiences that focusing only on short-term gains and losses is foolish, but if you put in genuine effort, even if the result doesn't match your expectations at that time, it will benefit you in the long run. This episode of "Gekirea-san" was really funny.
