Tokyo National Museum to Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum day, prioritizing short travel distances as much as possible Entering Ecute at the Park Exit gate of Ueno Station at 11:30 am The set meal of tantan noodles that I ordered was served after 12 pm during lunchtime. It was disappointing that it took 30 minutes for the food to be served. The soup of the noodles had a lump of what seemed to be undissolved soup base, which was disappointing. The three kinds of dim sum took a long time to steam, but they were hot. However, I didn't feel like wanting to eat them again. It was sad that there were no custard sets or paper napkins on the table. I left the restaurant feeling very disappointed at 12:25 pm. The waitstaff were performing their duties according to the manual, and they were not unpleasant. However, the lack of a "sorry for the wait" was noticeable. If 30 minutes is normal, then I will not visit again. When I left at 12:25 pm, there were about 5 people waiting. The location is good, but I have given a slightly harsh evaluation. However, this is just my personal opinion. If you do decide to go, it might be a good idea to check how long it will take before ordering.

This is a cafe review. I had tapioca and tofu pudding. It seems more affordable compared to other stores, maybe because it's a chain store. The sweetness was just right, and the flavors were classic. They offer representative dishes from Taiwan, so it can be used like a family restaurant. It's convenient and appreciated.

I went after the peak hours when it was relatively quiet. The staff took orders from customers who arrived after me first, and I had to wait for my drink even after my meal was served. The main dish was at the level of a family restaurant, and I didn't like the dessert, which was like tofu, as it was quite bland. I don't think the service and food are suitable for a date.

Before going to the art exhibition, I had a meal to fill my stomach. On hot days, Chinese food is the way to go! I ordered the Lu Rou Fan set! The taste was good, but it seemed to be more tailored towards Japanese tastes rather than authentic with the strong flavor of star anise. I prefer a more distinctive taste ❤️ The portion of rice was not enough for my big appetite, but it might be just right for women? Overall, it was decent.

I came to Ueno during lunchtime and had the Zirouhan set at the station building. Zirouhan consists of chicken, greens, pickled mustard greens, and boiled egg on rice, said to be from a shop in Taiwan, but personally I didn't feel much of a Taiwanese taste. Maybe because they don't use distinctive spices. It would have been nice if it had more green onions, garlic, and ginger. The Douhua with not-too-sweet syrup and boiled peanuts had a slightly rough texture like cotton tofu. It seemed a bit different from the smoothness of homemade Douhua made with food-grade gypsum and sweet potato flour. I would like to try something with a clearer taste next time.

Long-awaited first experience of tofu pudding! It was so delicious that I wish I had tried it sooner (^_^;). The dim sum was also of high quality, making it a very satisfying lunch. The restaurant is not crowded on weekday mornings, making it a hidden gem ♩ I will definitely visit again! The set meal with sesame soupless tantan noodles for 1628 yen includes tantan noodles, three kinds of dim sum, and peanut tofu pudding. The soupless tantan noodles lacked a bit of spiciness, but the richness of sesame, meat miso, and dried shrimp flavors made it delicious (^。^). I wonder if they can make it extra spicy with more Sichuan pepper? The dim sum was surprisingly high quality!! The meat shumai, steamed shrimp dumplings, and scallops were all steaming hot and very delicious (╹◡╹) Even though I'm not particular about soy milk, this tofu pudding was very delicious (╹◡╹). The fluffy tofu texture and the subtle sweetness of the syrup were both excellent. The atmosphere, interior, and space were nice, but the staff's loud voices made the over 15-minute wait difficult. I'll try not to let it bother me (laughs) Overall, the location, ambiance, and food were all impressive. The prices may seem high, but considering the high quality of the dim sum, it's worth it. Thank you for the meal.

Visited around 10 o'clock on Saturday, great location on the Ueno Zoo side. A Taiwanese restaurant that had caught my eye. It had a casual family restaurant vibe. I tried the cold tofu, Taiwanese crepe, and tea set. The tofu was delicious as usual. However, the crepe was thick like bread with a cut in the middle, and it felt forced when rolled up, which didn't quite match the Taiwanese style. The crepe sauce was more like a miso-based sauce. The white peach oolong tea was of typical quality, but I really like it. Overall, I couldn't quite feel the authentic Taiwanese taste, which was disappointing. I wonder if other dishes are delicious? It piqued my curiosity.

Elegant Taiwanese cuisine at JR Ueno Station. Right after exiting the station, I ordered the Lu Rou Fan set at the counter. The three pieces of dim sum were served piping hot. The Lu Rou Fan had a mild and gentle flavor without any strong aftertaste. The dessert, Dou Hua, had a comforting taste similar to brown sugar. It was just the right amount for a satisfying lunch with the Dou Hua included.

I think 920 yen is expensive for this. I ordered a warm sweet potato dessert, but the chewy sweet potato balls were relatively overcooked and lacked elasticity. Personally, I prefer the sweet potato dessert from Meat Fresh. The tofu pudding had a very gentle flavor. I don't think I will come back again.

In Ueno, the cold cherry blossoms are in full bloom, the weeping cherry blossoms are still going strong, but the Somei Yoshino cherry blossoms have barely any flowers left. I stopped by after seeing the flowers. The lunch looked delicious, but I was a bit unsure about the dessert options. I decided to go with the taro balls and tofu pudding. It's apparently the most popular item, but it tasted like sugary water and was quite mediocre. I guess red bean desserts are really only good in Japan. Very disappointing.

I went in wanting to eat xiaolongbao, but they didn't have it. They only had a dim sum set with 7 items, but I was looking for something like 5 xiaolongbao. So, I ended up ordering something else. The menu was limited, so I struggled to decide and ended up getting the beef ramen set. The flavor was a bit bland or shallow. I also thought about getting hot jasmine tea because it was cold, but it was 200 yen more expensive than iced tea (why?). So, I decided not to get it. The ramen that arrived was...

It is located inside the JR Ueno Station's ecute. This is a store outside the ticket gate. It is right after you exit the Park Exit ticket gate. Saodouhua offers a Taiwanese breakfast menu called "早餐". Due to being located inside a station building or shopping center, all stores open at 11:00 am, but the Ueno store, being directly connected to the station in ecute, offers morning service from 9:00 am on weekends. The morning set costs 700 yen and includes peanut douhua, fried bread or danpin, and tea. I used it before going to the Western Art Museum and was quite full from the large portion from the morning. For lunch, there are also exclusive items such as panda dim sum at the Ueno store.

I visited the Taiwanese sweets shop "Zaodouhua". They were open from 9 am on Sundays, and they also offered a morning menu which was convenient. I entered with the expectation of a sweets shop, but they also served noodles for breakfast, so I could see myself coming here when I'm hungry. The tea was delicious, both the oolong tea and jasmine tea were great. Truly Taiwan.

I visited this place after touring the art museums in Ueno. I shared a set of strawberry bean curd and Taiwan rice (Taipei-style braised pork rice) with my companion. The Taipei-style braised pork rice set arrived in about 5 minutes after ordering. There was no star anise scent. It seemed to be adjusted for Japanese taste. Hmm, mediocre. It lacked the authenticity of eating it in Taiwan. The set came with soup, steamed dumplings, and mini bean curd. All of them were just average. The soup, which should be daikon soup in the original, was a half-hearted, unpleasant soy sauce soup. The steamed dumplings seemed to have been preheated. The strawberry bean curd. Firstly, there was too little condensed milk, so it lacked sweetness. I thought it would be better to provide honey or condensed milk separately so customers can adjust to their preference. The bean curd itself was not bad, but as someone who has eaten it in Taiwan, I was not satisfied with the taste. When I pointed out to what seemed to be the manager that there was hardly any condensed milk on the strawberry bean curd (probably not the right amount), and it lacked sweetness, there was no follow-up response, just a simple acknowledgment. The interior of the restaurant was cramped, with no space between tables, making it difficult to move around. I probably won't visit again.

I entered the restaurant before noon. There were many set menus available, such as noodles and rice bowls, and I had a hard time deciding, but I ended up choosing the soupless tantanmen. It had a manageable level of spiciness even for women, and the three types of dim sum were delicious. Although I don't have a photo, my friend who had the lu rou fan said it was flavorful with tender meat. The mini dessert was also delicious.

On Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 12:40, the restaurant was full, so I had to wait for 10 minutes before entering. The lunchtime set menu with tofu pudding was popular. The options included Mama Liu's beef noodle set for 1680 Taiwan dollars, fried chicken and dumplings set for 1280 Taiwan dollars, spring rolls for 480 Taiwan dollars, Taiwanese beer for 680 Taiwan dollars, and winter melon milk for 480 Taiwan dollars. The dishes were generous and satisfying. The tofu pudding had a slightly burnt smell, which was its distinctive feature, but it tasted like regular tofu pudding.

I had a Chinese-style breakfast, so I decided to try Douhua. I searched on a food review website and found a place on the second floor of Ueno Station that serves Douhua. When I arrived, I noticed that it was quite difficult to access from the Ameyoko side. It seems like their target customers are visitors to Ueno Park or the zoo. Since I was alone, I was seated at the counter. The tables were mostly full with families, but there was plenty of space at the counter. However, watching the staff working hard to make the Douhua made me a bit uncomfortable. The Douhua with ice was light and easy to eat, with a sweet and sour lemon flavor. The texture of the Douhua was not very chewy, and it was topped with amber-colored jelly. It looked nice, but I couldn't remember if this was how it was supposed to be. Generally, tenant restaurants at train stations tend to be a bit pricey, but this place had a good atmosphere and a large capacity, so it might be worth a try.

I can't tell if the tomato-flavored warm noodles are Taiwanese-style or not. However, the texture of the tofu pudding is too rough. The black honey syrup tastes diluted and lacks flavor. Did I just eat baby food? It's different from when I had it in Taiwan... The dim sum items are all just average. Despite my personal opinions, the service is very good and the restaurant is clean. Maybe it would have been better if I had it with braised pork rice.

I've been going to Ueno recently, and there's always a line at this restaurant during lunchtime. I went after 3pm and it was empty. Lucky me. I ordered the "Peanut Douhua" for 638 yen (including 10% tax). It was a warm douhua with sweet syrup and boiled peanuts. Simple and delicious. I wish they would allow more toppings instead of just the fixed menu.

A Taiwanese cafe located right by the Ueno Station building's park entrance. They serve Taiwanese light snacks, desserts, and tea. I tried their tofu pudding and oolong tea. The tofu pudding was a bit too sweet, but the toppings were authentically Taiwanese which was nice. They offer a selection of famous Taiwanese oolong teas, which was good. I waited for almost an hour due to the crowd from Ueno Park on a holiday... The place was so crowded that the staff seemed overwhelmed, and the service was a bit rushed, but I guess it's understandable for a place like this. The kitchen was too small, and it might be better to improve the workflow as they were working next to where customers were seated.
