I've been focusing on my meat-eating journey lately, so it's been a while since I visited a Chinese restaurant in Gotanda. You can find more details on youtube.com/@butakoma. They had a variety of daily noodles and set meals, but I decided to try their liver and leek stir-fry. The crunchy bean sprouts paired well with the tender liver, and there was no unpleasant smell. You can get a refill of rice, but they serve it in a bowl from the beginning, so you may not need a refill. The portion of liver and leek stir-fry matched the amount of rice perfectly, and I left feeling satisfied. However, I found the rice a bit lacking in flavor.

I've been focusing on eating meat for a while now, so it's been a while since I visited a Chinese restaurant in Gotanda. You can find the full review on youtube.com/@butakoma. One great thing about this place is that you can get free refills of soup and rice. The restaurant is located on the basement floor, and they also sell bento boxes in front of the shop, so you can easily spot it. The liver and garlic chives stir-fry was delicious without any strong liver smell. I recently noticed that bean sprouts are often added to liver and garlic chives stir-fry. I like the crunchy texture, but I personally believe that bean sprouts should not be included in this dish.

[Location] 4 minutes walk from Gotanda Station [Date/Time/Queue] 19th November 2019 (Tuesday) at 13:00, no queue [Food/Price] Hoikoro set meal for 800 yen, draft beer for 390 yen [Impression] A Chinese restaurant near Gotanda Station. The Hoikoro I ordered was rich in flavor and came in a generous portion, very delicious. Coffee, soup, and rice are free for refills. The draft beer in a mug for 390 yen is also cheap. Overall, a satisfying experience. A good restaurant.

The bento box had noodles on one side and a sauce on the other side, priced at 500 yen. I was about to leave after just checking the menu, but the friendly salesperson convinced me to buy it. When I got home and plated it, I was surprised by the generous portion. It was slightly sweet and not too salty, which made it taste gentle. It was tastier than it looked. There are many Chinese restaurants around here.

At a restaurant, I had the night set meal with sweet and sour pork as the main dish. The night set meal includes rice, soup, bamboo shoots, and dessert for 900 yen. Besides sweet and sour pork, you can choose other mains like mapo tofu or sweet and sour pork. The restaurant was not crowded, with a few groups of people having the night set meal or young people who just finished work. I got my food quickly. I was curious about the spicy mapo tofu, but I played it safe and ordered sweet and sour pork. It had a sweet flavor and was easy to eat.

I usually have a late lunch, but during training, lunchtime is in the 12 o'clock hour, so I look for new places to eat. I visited "Ajien Gotanda" located in the basement of a building in Nishi-Gotanda for the first time. When I sat down at a table, there were peanuts placed there. While snacking on peanuts, I looked at the menu and ordered the mapo tofu noodles. I thought the mapo tofu was slightly on the sweeter side. I was surprised when watermelon was served as a dessert. The coffee after the meal was self-service and free. I enjoyed my coffee while snacking on peanuts. It was a lunch where the peanuts left an impression. Thank you for the meal.

The portions are generous and cheap. I've tried various items and they tend to be on the sweeter side. When I forget my lunch, I often end up using this place. It's cheaper than buying various items at the convenience store.

It costs 500 yen. They have a stamp card. You can use PayPay. The shop is located underground near Doutor along National Route 1. During lunchtime, they also sell from a wagon near the FamilyMart on the opposite side of the road.

[First visit on April 24, 2018] Visited for lunch with colleagues from work. This restaurant seems to specialize in Sichuan cuisine, with dishes that are a bit spicy, such as mapo tofu. The lunch menu mainly consists of set meals and noodle dishes. The daily noodle special was mapo tofu noodles, which were quite spicy. I added a small bowl of rice as a palate cleanser. Dessert was almond tofu. Soup: I was expecting a rich and thick soup like tantanmen, but it was actually a light chicken broth soy sauce soup. The mapo tofu had bird's eye chili in it, making it quite spicy! The broth and soy sauce were mild, so the spiciness really stood out. Noodles: Thin curly noodles, slightly firm. Because they were thin, the mapo tofu sauce didn't cling to them much. Ingredients: The menu mainly consisted of mapo tofu. There was a good amount of tofu, with the sauce sinking to the bottom of the soup. It was a bit difficult to eat the noodles with the sauce, so I ended up putting it on the rice to make a mini mapo tofu rice bowl. The chopped bird's eye chili added a nice kick. The dish didn't use strong spices like Sichuan pepper, and the minced meat and sauce had a nostalgic, straightforward Chinese flavor with chicken broth and sesame oil. The noodles with rice cost 750 yen, and other set meals ranged from 800 to 900 yen, making it a reasonably priced option for everyday dining. Thank you for the meal~

On Tuesday afternoon, I was in the mood for Chinese food. So, I visited "Ajien Gotanda" for lunch. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I felt the Chinese atmosphere. I sat at a table and checked the menu. They had a decent variety of lunch options, but I decided to order the "青椒肉絲" (850 yen). After placing my order, the dish arrived after a short wait. I dug in eagerly. The taste was decent, nothing extraordinary. I couldn't help but hum in satisfaction. After the meal, I enjoyed a complimentary dessert. If I have the chance, I'd like to try their dinner menu next time.

On my way to Gotanda TOC, I came across a 4th-anniversary sign and decided to check it out. The interior of the restaurant was a bit dim, with the Chinese chef and his wife managing the place. The menu was quite extensive. I ordered the mapo tofu lunch set. While waiting, they served peanuts. The mapo tofu finally arrived after a bit of a wait, along with rice, soup, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly for dessert. The overall taste was refined, not greasy like typical Chinese restaurants, and quite delicious. The portion size was also quite generous.

I will rush to any place with delicious gourmet food. This time, I visited Mien for their famous Mapo Tofu and rice with a glass of draft beer. The Mapo Tofu was indeed quite spicy, but it had a good umami flavor and was delicious. I happened to be seated at a table in the back, and it was quiet as there weren't many customers.

This is a Chinese restaurant located in a back alley across the Meguro River from the west exit of Gotanda Station. It is situated underground behind a Doutor along Sakura Street. On a Sunday around 10 PM, there was a sign outside advertising a recommended set meal for 980 yen. The restaurant had a sports bar atmosphere with dim lighting and a large display screen. There were also private rooms with round tables in the back. There were no other customers at the time, and it seemed like they were getting ready to close at 11 PM. The recommended set meal for 980 yen includes a choice of two dishes and a draft beer, with five different combinations to choose from. I chose "Kushiyaki" and "Sichuan-style peanuts." Along with the draft beer, they also served pickled vegetables as a complimentary appetizer. The draft beer was served in a slim glass, and the Sichuan-style peanuts were spicy and went well with the beer. The Kushiyaki was stir-fried with ingredients like black fungus, chicken, bamboo shoots, komatsuna greens, carrots, and eggs. It was flavorful and satisfying. They also offer an upgraded set meal for 1500 yen, which includes either Char Siu noodles or vegetable tanmen, but since the Kushiyaki was quite filling, I didn't order any noodles. Until 8 PM, draft beer is 390 yen (usually 550 yen) and a highball is 290 yen (usually 430 yen).

I visited for lunch. There were quite a few people (close to 10), but we were able to sit at a round table in the restaurant. The staff took our orders in somewhat broken Japanese, so I thought they might be from the original country. There were various options for lunch, so I decided to go with the daily special (vegetable stir-fry). The price was a bit on the high side (still under 1,000 yen), but the portion was worth it. The taste was typical for a vegetable stir-fry, but the mapo tofu that others ordered looked delicious with its red color and spicy appearance. They actually said it was delicious while sweating. Coffee was included after the meal, so I left satisfied.

I recently visited a Chinese restaurant called "Wei Yuan" that opened across from my workplace. I ordered the "Spicy Mapo Tofu" for 850 yen. The food was more refined compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. The taste was good and the portion size was decent. However, it didn't stand out much among the many Chinese restaurants in Gotanda. I would consider going back if I have the chance. ★★★

I think it was Tonchan in Gotanda that used to be a Korean restaurant, but now this new place opened so I decided to try it. They also sell Chinese bento boxes at the entrance. I ordered the spicy mapo tofu for 850 yen. It came with mapo tofu, soup, rice, pickled vegetables, and almond jelly. The spiciness wasn't too strong, probably because I'm used to the spicier places in Gotanda. The restaurant is run by a couple, it seems. When I asked if they could make it spicier on my way out, they said it was totally fine. If they could make it really spicy, it could help differentiate them from the other mapo tofu places in Gotanda. Otherwise, it might be tough since there are already spicy mapo tofu places in Gotanda.

I think this is the best value Chinese restaurant around here. The photo shows some complimentary dishes that came before ordering. It seems like you could get full before even ordering! The alcohol is also cheap. The owner's daughter, who is the poster girl, is cute.

We sell bento boxes at the entrance of the store from around 11:30 until sold out. All for 500 yen. It's a store located underground, but you can buy bentos without going down. I like the vinegar chicken and fried rice or mapo tofu and fried rice. There are various options like stir-fried eggplant, glass noodles, stir-fried chicken with nuts, stir-fried leek with liver, and more. There is also a stamp collection service where you can get a free bento. It seems to be popular as there are many customers coming to buy.
