On my first visit in February 2019, I decided to explore a bakery in Hino City, next to Hachioji, to avoid getting caught up in the Kanto Hachioji Yume Kaido Ekiden race. The bakery is located off the main street, nestled in a residential area. It is tastefully renovated on the first floor of a regular house. The interior has two seats, and there is also an eat-in space in the garden, although it may be difficult to use in the cold season. It's better to consider it as a take-out place. They mainly offer soft bread, sandwiches, and pastries, with a few hard bread options. The prices are standard for a small bakery that uses natural yeast. I purchased a walnut and cheese Danish, croissant, sausage epi, and cream-filled brioche, totaling 756 yen. There were discounted leftover bread items near the register. I wish they were displayed more prominently, as I would have bought more. Despite the homely atmosphere, the quality of the bread was surprisingly good. While not as refined as that of a famous bakery, the variety of bread makes it a convenient place for everyday use, especially for locals. The presence of a parking lot also makes it easily accessible.

On a Sunday afternoon while walking through this residential area for work, I stumbled upon a shop. I decided to take a break from work and entered the shop. The exterior and interior of the shop had a nice atmosphere, and the owner greeted me warmly. The shop opened two years ago, but the building was renovated from where the owner's father used to live. There were both indoor and outdoor cafe spaces, and it seemed like a nice place to stop by when feeling a bit hungry. The walnut bread, brioche, cinnamon bread, and dried fruit bread were all carefully made and looked delicious. After trying them, I felt like trying the other bread as well. Keep up the good work!

At the intersection of Hino-dai on the old Route 20, there is a bakery in a residential area southeast of the intersection. It seems convenient to use Tabelog in this situation. The name of the shop is "55," which is in French "Cinquante-Cinq." It looks like they opened by remodeling a regular house. They have a parking lot for one car. The shop is located up a few steps on the south-facing slope. When you go out into the garden, you'll find the bakery space. I bought a croissant for ¥200 and an epi for ¥220. Let's start with the croissant. When you casually turn it over, you can see the neatly rolled dough, which is nice. You can feel the meticulousness of the bread artisan. I take a bite. The harmony of the butter aroma and the wheat is delightful. I wish I had made a cup of coffee to go with it. I take a bite of the epi. It has a strong flavor of black pepper instead of grain mustard. The bacon is also modest. It's an elegant epi. Since the bacon is modest, the aroma of the wheat in the bread stands out. Thank you for the meal.

I went to the bakery because the bucket of bread looked delicious in the photo. Unfortunately, the curry bread I wanted was sold out, so I bought a cube-shaped matcha bread, a cube-shaped sakura mochi bread with red bean paste, and a boule loaf. The prices were around 220 yen each. The bakery is run by a friendly couple. You can eat in, and I think the mint water is free to drink. They also serve coffee. Inside, there is a long table along the wall near the register with three chairs. Outside, there is a deck with around 6 small chairs for children. It might be fun to visit with kids. There is a parking spot next to the bakery, but it's only for one car. When I got home, I tried the bread. The bucket bread had a crispy and fragrant crust, but the inside was slightly moist and lacked the quality of a top-tier bakery. I didn't enjoy the cube-shaped bread, but the boule loaf was delicious. It was soft and tasty, with a good balance of ingredients. It seems like they excel in making bread loaves. I might visit again when my child is a bit older.

Eat-in available ★ About a 10-minute walk from JR Toyoda Station. This shop is located near Hino City Hospital. I visited on a Saturday evening! The shop is very clean and stylish. "Cinq Cinq Cinq" means 55 in French... apparently. Although this shop is small, they have a wide variety of bread, including sandwich bread, baguettes, Danish pastries, focaccia, country bread, and more. In addition, they offer homemade dishes like chicken, tomato stew, curry, etc., which have a homemade and authentic feel. You can notice the spices, the acidity of the tomatoes, and more. The prices are mostly around 200 yen... great for foodies. They also offer various samples and the conversations are enjoyable! The most delicious item was the roll sandwich bread! A moist bread with orange peel and walnuts. This is a must-have for repeat visits. The shop is located in a residential area and may be hard to find, but it's a hidden gem of a bakery. I want to try more of their bread varieties! I hope they become more prosperous. Next time, I'll enjoy it in their small garden. Slightly higher rating!
