I went to Hamatomi, a restaurant near my usual izakaya that was closed. I ordered the sashimi set for lunch. The quantity of sashimi was better at my usual place, but the quality was higher here. The side dishes included simmered bonito and simmered pork, and the quality of those was also good. The miso soup had fish scraps in it, giving it a good flavor. It seems like Hamatomi might become a new favorite. However, an elderly woman served the food and seemed a bit unsteady, which resulted in a little miso soup spillage... (laughs)

The shop opened when the Musashino Line opened. The female owner was 40 years old at the time of opening, and now it has been 47 years since then. The entire shop has a nostalgic atmosphere of the 1970s. The appetizer is simmered octopus. The history of the shop continues to be told, making it feel like your ears are being pulled like a octopus. It feels more like an izakaya than a traditional Japanese restaurant. The eel dish is like a simmered dish, with flavors that reflect the local area. The place is not sophisticated, but it has a calm atmosphere. We wished for their long-lasting success as we left. Thank you for the meal! On the way back, we noticed something we hadn't seen before from the platform of the Musashino Line.

New Akitsu I saw a "set meal" flag in a place a little off the road from Akitsu to New Akitsu, heading from Akitsu. Akitsu is known for its yakitori restaurants and izakayas, but this place seems to handle slightly higher-end ingredients like eel and tempura. When I arrived around 11:10, they were still in the process of preparing. The contents of the set meal vary by day, but it seems to focus on grilled fish and sashimi. Since sashimi was available early, I ordered the tuna and horse mackerel sashimi set meal for 950 yen. The restaurant has a counter and tatami seating. There are various ornaments. While waiting for the set meal, I was served simmered tuna as a complimentary dish. The service is good. Before I knew it, the tuna and horse mackerel sashimi set meal was ready. It has a beautifully arranged presentation typical of a traditional Japanese restaurant. The side dishes are also substantial. There is simmered taro, pickles, and sweet potato tempura simmered. The miso soup is made with fish stock. And the main dish is the sashimi platter. The presentation is excellent. The combination of the main dish and side dishes makes the rice go down smoothly. The rice is cooked perfectly. The menu below seems to be for dinner. It's a bit more expensive, but based on the lunch content, I feel like coming back for dinner. The kitchen seems to be run by a couple. The serving is done by several friendly middle-aged ladies. Keep up the good work as a traditional Japanese restaurant in Akitsu and New Akitsu.

The red fish kasuzuke is large, comes with miso soup with crab, is cheap, and delicious.

The grilled saury set meal at Sanma costs 1200 yen. The saury is very delicious, but I wouldn't say it's great value for money. You can get a free refill of rice though.

On this day, after walking in Iruma, I found myself near Iruma City Station with no idea of where to have lunch. Since I had to transfer trains anyway, I decided to head back to Akitsu. On the way to Shin-Akitsu Station, I remembered there were two fish-based restaurants I wanted to try, so I chose "Hamatomu" out of the two. The place seemed like a traditional Japanese restaurant, with some takeaway dishes displayed outside. The lunch menu didn't have anything particularly appealing, so I decided to try the sashimi set meal. Inside, the atmosphere was filled with old enka music, and there was a local customer at the counter enjoying his meal. It felt a bit awkward intruding on what seemed like a staff meal, but I was guided to a seat at the counter. I ordered the tuna and sea bream sashimi set meal. When asked if I wanted extra rice, I declined after seeing the portion size. The set meal arrived shortly, with decent side dishes and miso soup. The amount of sashimi was a bit lacking, and while it wasn't bad, the tuna wasn't exceptional. Perhaps opting for a grilled fish dish would have been a better choice. Overall, the experience was unique due to the atmosphere, but I might not return for another visit. (6/10)

I visited this shop that I've been curious about for a while. At the entrance, there was today's lunch menu: - Sea bream sashimi set meal - Amberjack sashimi set meal - Ako sea bream kasuzuke set meal - Ginmutsu Saikyo-zuke set meal - Dried goby set meal - Dried sea bass set meal All are fish-based Japanese set meals~♪ Fish, fish, fish~♪ When you eat fish~♪ By the way, all of them are priced at 900 yen. Ako sea bream kasuzuke set meal 900 yen Ako sea bream kasuzuke, 2 side dishes, rice, soup, pickles When the dish was served, the owner mentioned, "The skin of kasuzuke tends to burn." So don't worry^^ Let's dig in. Oh~ a big Ako sea bream! The flesh is plentiful and delicious. The side dishes are tuna stew and boiled spinach. There is so much in the bowl that you might wonder if it's really okay. The stew is incredibly tasty, and it goes well with rice! (*´∀`*) The soup is pork and Chinese cabbage. It's also filled with plenty of ingredients. The flavor of the pork comes out and it's delicious~ Warm and comforting~♪ Each dish is well-prepared and the portion is generous! Overall, it's quite a substantial meal, beyond just being full. If you want to eat a satisfying Japanese meal, be sure to visit here. Thank you for the delicious meal.

You can also have grilled fish set meals in the evening, confirmed by phone. When I mentioned that I saw it on Tabelog, they said it was smooth, but seemed unfamiliar with Tabelog. I gathered my thoughts and stated my request, and they confirmed that set meals are available in the evening. It was my first time in the Akitsu area. I had done some research online beforehand and found a parking lot nearby, just a short distance from Hamatomi. The correct location was on the north side, where there is a coin parking lot on the premises of Tsutaya. The menu board was displayed in front of the restaurant, and I decided on the Red Sebastes salt-grilled set meal for 1,200 yen. Inside the restaurant, there was a tatami seating area on the left and the kitchen and counter on the right. I sat at the counter and ordered my meal. Since I was driving, I couldn't drink alcohol, so I was served cold barley tea. The waiting time was about 15 minutes. The customer next to me was having a lively political discussion, which added to the atmosphere of a casual pub. When the food arrived, the Red Sebastes was about 12 cm in length. The pickles included kelp, Chinese cabbage, and pickled daikon. There was also boiled spinach (if memory serves me right). The miso soup had clams. The taste was great, with the salt seasoning being just right and delicious. It paired perfectly with the rice. It was a proper dish made by a skilled chef, not junk food, and I thought it was worth the 1,200 yen.

I have only been there for lunch, but the seafood set meal is delicious no matter what you order. I was surprised by how big the yellowtail was. In addition to the fish, the set meal also includes soup, simmered dishes, and boiled vegetables, all of which are carefully prepared and tasty. I usually go alone, and although the counter area seems to be for regular customers, they always let me sit in the tatami room, which is very comfortable. The staff are lively and welcoming. Good seafood restaurants are hard to come by, so this place is precious. It seems like they open at noon for lunch. When I went in the 11 o'clock hour, they were closed.
