It had been a while since I met my former colleagues, so I decided to bring a gift to Eitaro without hesitation. I chose a summer-themed water dessert, with two servings of cold shiratama zenzai each, nicely wrapped. It's a gift that will be appreciated. The atmosphere inside the store was pleasant, and around noon, besides me, there were other regular customers who requested red rice and a lot of male customers. If you visit Shibajinmei, be sure to stop by!

This shop, which was opened as a branch of the famous Wagashi shop Eitaro, features storefront signs written by the artist Okamoto Taro. They specialize in seasonal Japanese sweets, available for purchase only at the store front. Other products can be purchased online. In August, they offer Kuzumochi with three flavors: red bean paste, apricot paste, and green plum paste. They are delicious at room temperature and have a refreshing aftertaste. Each piece is priced at ¥220, making it affordable.

I stopped by because I was nearby. They had a variety of traditional Japanese sweets like wagashi, water yokan in bamboo, dorayaki, Enoshima (monaka), daifuku, and more. I thought about getting the water yokan, but ended up choosing the black bean daifuku and Enoshima with sesame paste. The black bean daifuku was made with white sugar, red beans, glutinous rice, black beans, salt, and potato starch, with smooth red bean paste. The texture of the black beans and the red bean paste was a perfect match! Both the black beans and the red bean paste were delicious. The Enoshima with sesame paste was made with white sugar, red beans, rice syrup, sesame seeds, glutinous rice, and agar. It was a small monaka shaped like a scallop shell. The flavor of the black sesame was delicious. It was very tasty, and since they don't use any additives, I would like to try other sweets when I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the store in the morning on a weekday. Despite being an unusual time, there were still customers coming in steadily. A man in a suit asked for a gift, so I recommended the popular Enoshima mochi and the weekday-limited salted daifuku. The sweet bean paste was not too sweet, and the size was perfect for eating more and more. There are various flavors to enjoy.

The high ratings led me to try this place. I quite like monaka (wafer cake) and might consider buying it if I come across it. The monaka called Tamazusa here is said to be modeled after the Tokugawa family's aoi crest. It was small and had a fairly firm skin. The sesame bean paste was a bit unusual, and I felt a bit of discomfort because I wasn't used to it. The bean paste itself was a bit too sweet for my liking. These small monaka might be good as gifts.

Workplace is near the Shiba Daimyojin Shrine, so I always stop by Eitaro before meeting acquaintances or people I am grateful to. I buy a few boxes of bean daifuku or dorayaki as a thank you gift for my office superiors, and sometimes I have them wrap some senbei or throat lozenges in a box with a decorative ribbon to give as a gift on the go. They are also known for their delicious and easy-to-eat crispy rice crackers in various flavors! I also appreciate the polite service from the staff!❣️

Visited the super long-established Japanese confectionery "Shibajinmei Eitakoso" founded in 1885, located a 2-minute walk from Daimon Station. Arrived around 1:30 pm on Saturday and was able to pay quickly as there were only a few customers in the store. Purchased a shima-nakamochi with red bean paste for 130 yen, a shima-nakamochi with sesame paste for 130 yen, and a black bean daifuku for 240 yen. The shima-nakamochi with sesame paste had a strong sesame flavor and was delicious! The black bean daifuku had a moderately sweet and moist red bean paste with a stretchy skin that paired well together. The black beans added a nice texture contrast. Enjoyed every bite until the end.

Shiba Daimon Eitairo is a long-established traditional Japanese confectionery shop located in Minato-ku, Tokyo. It was founded in 1885 as a branch of Nihonbashi Eitairo, and is known for its delicious traditional sweets such as mochi, yokan, and dorayaki. The shop is located in Shiba Jinmei Shotengai, with the nearest station being Daimon Station on the Toei Asakusa Line and Oedo Line. Other nearby stations include Hamamatsucho Station, Onarimon Station, and Shiba Koen Station. The shop is famous for its "Aoi Tamazusa" sweets, which are made with high-quality ingredients such as azuki beans from Hyogo Prefecture and wasanbon sugar. The service at Shiba Jinmei Eitairo is very polite and attentive. I highly recommend trying their sweets when visiting the area.

I took a little stroll around Shibadaimon and decided to step into a Japanese confectionery shop that caught my eye. I found the characters on the sign outside to be quite original, but I didn't think they were by Taro Okamoto. I debated between getting a monaka or a dorayaki, but ended up choosing the dorayaki. The fluffy dough paired perfectly with the sweet red bean paste, making it delicious. Highly recommended.

A traditional Japanese sweets shop near Zojoji Temple. When I hear the name Eitaro, it reminds me of the candy I used to eat as a child. It's located on a quiet street, but there are many customers. The shop is small, so I had to wait outside for a bit. I was recommended to try the black bean daifuku and dorayaki. The black bean daifuku costs 234 yen. It's a bit different from regular daifuku. It has black beans on top of sweet bean paste, wrapped in mochi. The black beans are oval-shaped, maybe from Hokkaido. It's delicious. The dorayaki costs 270 yen. It has a small plum imprint, very elegant. The sweet bean paste is soft and shiny. The castella cake is moist and perfect. I found a high-quality dorayaki after a long time. All made with natural ingredients and no artificial additives. I think it's a top-notch traditional Japanese sweets shop.

Located just 1 minute from Shibadaimon Station, this traditional Japanese sweets shop offers a variety of sweets such as monaka and yokan. Their "Enoshima Monaka" comes in five different fillings: white bean paste, yuzu citrus, smooth red bean paste, chunky red bean paste, and sesame. The scallop and abalone shapes are different, making it fun to open and enjoy. Since they are small, you might end up eating several at once.

First visit in August 2021 (No. 2913) I visited a tea shop that I wasn't quite sure what kind of place it was to pass the time until the lunch restaurant opened. Since I still had some time to spare, I decided to visit this place that had caught my interest before. This shop was established in Shibadaimon in 1885, specializing in the production and sale of various traditional Japanese sweets such as manju. It turns out that it is a branch of the famous "Eitairo Sohonpo" shop. "Eitairo Sohonpo" was founded in 1857, and it seems that back then it wasn't as large-scale as it is now, hence the branch shop. I purchased a simple item for transport since I had plans to buy many items that day. I bought the "King Ringo" for 400 yen, which is a fruit candy in apple flavor that has been on sale since 2013. The unique triangular shape with rounded corners is a feature that prevents the candy from hurting the mouth when cut and also prevents it from breaking, similar to the famous "Umeboshi Ame." Although this visit was spontaneous without much checking, I learned that the "Enoshima Manju," named by the literary figure Ozaki Koyo, is a representative confectionery here, so I will definitely come back to try it when I have the chance. Thank you for the meal.

With Children's Day approaching, I tried Kashiwa Mochi. The filling was white miso, rich but not too heavy, and very delicious! The assortment of 5 Monaka had different fillings, all of which were easy to eat. My favorite was the "Sesame An". The unique "Yuzu An" was refreshing, perfect for this time of year!

Thank you for visiting my Instagram page @docter.gourmet. I appreciate your likes, follows, and especially saving the restaurant recommendations. In Tokyo, the cherry blossoms are in full bloom, so I decided to try some sakura mochi at Shibaeitaro. This shop, a branch of the established Eitaro Sohonpo founded in Meiji 18, specializes in traditional Japanese sweets. Today, I tried their Sakura Mochi and Black Sugar Sakura Mochi. The Sakura Mochi was a small size with a mild sweetness, easy to enjoy. The Black Sugar Sakura Mochi had a unique soft sweetness from the black sugar, giving it a taste that reflects its historical roots. Thank you for the delicious treats!

I was taken there by a friend ^ - ^ Eitaro-san also has its own uniqueness depending on the store, and you can enjoy each store♪ The staff here were very cute. A young girl served us diligently ( ´∀`) It was very soothing☆ I bought the limited edition monaka from this store. It was small and shaped like a shell, very cute! And only 110 yen! There were five types of sweet bean paste inside. Whole bean paste, smooth bean paste, sesame, yuzu, and one more that I forgot haha. The sweets made with mochi seem to be popular, and my friend was praising them! The monaka was also quite good. I think it's a relaxing Japanese sweets shop♪

It's about a 7-minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station. If you're looking to buy souvenirs in Hamamatsucho, this is the place to go. They offer traditional Japanese sweets that are popular with people of all ages. The customer service was excellent. ・Enoshima Monaka 690 yen You can choose your favorite fillings for 115 yen each. They are shaped like seashells and are very cute. The yuzu (citrus) filling is especially recommended. It has a refreshing scent and is delicious. All of them were filled with plenty of filling.

Here at Shibajinmei Eitaro, a branch of Eitaro Sohonten, they specialize in traditional Japanese sweets with a focus on quality ingredients. Their "Aoi Tamazusa" sweet is particularly popular for using high-quality azuki beans from Kasuga-cho, Hyogo Prefecture, known for their delicious flavor. The mochi skin is made from premium rice "Miyakogane" and the sweets are made using traditional methods without any synthetic preservatives or coloring. As a resident of Hyogo Prefecture, hearing about the use of Hyogo-grown "Oonatsume" beans makes me very happy, as there are few shops in the prefecture that focus on using Tamba azuki beans for their sweets. The only other shop that comes to mind is Kisuke Senbei at Kobe Station near Nishinomiya Kitaguchi. I also tried the Enoshima Mochi with grain azuki bean paste, which features five different types of paste - white, yuzu, smooth, coarse, and sesame. The texture of the azuki beans was excellent, and you could taste the care put into making them. Both the Enoshima Mochi and Aoi Tamazusa were delicious, with a nice balance of texture between the crunchy outer layer and the moist, flavorful bean paste. Thank you for the wonderful treats.

I had a bite of sesame and sweet red bean paste in a monaka. The smooth red bean paste was fine, but the sweet red bean paste was too sweet for my liking. The location seems to be near Zozoji Temple, so it might be a good idea to stop by after visiting the temple. It's a famous place, so it could be a nice souvenir to bring back. However, if you live in Tokyo and don't have any specific reason to go there, it might not be worth the trip.

・Dorayaki ¥237 tax included ・Enoshima Monaka (yuzu bean paste) ¥108 tax included ・Shiba Shinmei Mochi (brown sugar) ¥194 tax included This is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop located a few minutes' walk from Daimon Station on the Toei Oedo Line. They offer a variety of flavors, with the Enoshima Monaka in different shapes depending on the flavor being particularly famous. Of course, they also have various other traditional Japanese sweets, which are often used as gifts for colleagues. This time, I visited the shop personally. The staff who served me seemed quite young, possibly a part-time worker. However, they were well-trained and provided detailed explanations about the sweets, diligently sharing information they had memorized. They seemed to have been thoroughly trained on details such as expiration dates. Both the shop that trains them and the staff who earnestly fulfill their duties are commendable. It's a good shop. This time, I bought some sweets on a whim to treat myself for a little achievement. Here are my thoughts on the sweets: 【Dorayaki】 The large size provides a satisfying bite. The notable aspect is the red bean paste inside. It is incredibly fresh and has just the right amount of sweetness. The fresh red beans have a firm texture but are not tough, easily crushing when bitten. The moisture of the fresh paste blends into the castella dough, making it moist and delightful. Yum. I've tried dorayaki from various places, but this one is quite to my liking. I especially recommend the fresh red bean paste to others. 【Enoshima Monaka (yuzu bean paste)】 The Monaka comes in five different shapes, each corresponding to a different flavor, making it visually appealing. You can choose based on flavor or shape. This time, I chose based on shape and went for yuzu bean paste. While I'm curious about the other flavors, I was in the mood for yuzu today. The yuzu bean paste Monaka is a small Monaka shaped like a triangular seashell with a thin shell. It is filled with the fragrance of yuzu and rich white bean paste. They use high-quality ingredients such as red beans from Hokkaido, white kidney beans, and premium mochi rice, without any preservatives or artificial coloring. 【Shiba Shinmei Mochi (brown sugar)】 This elegant mochi block is made with black sugar from Taketomi Island in Okinawa, offering a refined sweetness. I savored it by taking small bites with a toothpick. Unlike mochi with sweet bean paste, it has a smooth, elastic texture without stickiness. It's quite good as well. While the Monaka is a must-try, it's hard to pass up the dorayaki. I tried the Shiba Shinmei Mochi this time, but I was also intrigued by other traditional Japanese sweets. This shop is really nice. And, once again, thank you to the staff for their service. Itadakimasu!

I visited this shop located a short walk from the station. This time, I tried their dorayaki, sweetfish, and was recommended to try their mizu yokan. My impression after trying them was that all of them had a rich sweet bean paste filling. Especially the dorayaki had a moist and fluffy outer layer with a thin skin, yet the filling inside was incredibly dense. The grains were firm and the aroma was strong, but the richness stood out the most. The sweetness was also strong, but not overpowering, and I think they used less sugar despite the intensity. The sweetfish had a moist skin and a rich filling inside. It was more satisfying than elegant. The mizu yokan was served in a bamboo container, which was already split for easy removal and just the right size. Of course, it was richer than regular mizu yokan, and the size was just right. Overall, these traditional Japanese sweets were rich in flavor, but not overly sweet considering their intensity.
