I was aiming for Nagashimaya in the village, but it was unexpectedly closed on their regular holiday. So, I decided to give up on the long line at Mangetsu Udon and instead found a sushi restaurant with a lunch menu that was super affordable. Maybe not being able to eat udon was a blessing in disguise! Thank you for the delicious sushi!

*Looking back post* During this period (August 2022), there was a 30% cashback campaign for PayPay in Musashimurayama City, Tokyo, so I decided to try a new place and visited "Sanriku Ofunato Sushi." Inside the restaurant, several customers who seemed to be regulars were enjoying their drinks at the counter. The proprietress had a gentle yet friendly demeanor. [Premium Sushi] ¥2,800 [Hoya (sea squirt)] [Sake: Asahiraki (Asahikai Co., Ltd., Iwate Prefecture)] I heard that the ingredients here are sourced directly from Ofunato Port in Iwate Prefecture, so they were incredibly fresh. The texture and chewiness of the shellfish, in particular, were outstanding. Although it's a different prefecture, it reminded me of the delicious sushi I had at a famous restaurant near Shiogama Port in Miyagi Prefecture. The flavors of Sanriku were truly delightful.

I visited Sanriku Ofunato Sushi in Musashimurayama City. I heard that they moved here after the Great East Japan Earthquake. I can imagine their feelings, and I was surprised and moved to be able to taste the same amazing flavors of Sanriku here. The sushi was excellent, with perfect rice-to-fish ratio. The assorted dishes were all delicious, and the sake paired well. It's a shame that it's not easy to visit due to transportation, but I definitely want to come back to enjoy the sushi and seafood from Sanriku again.

Sushi made by a chef from Miyagi is really delicious! The sushi toppings and sashimi are also very tasty! And being able to eat Sendai beef is also a charm.

I found a sushi restaurant while walking and decided to visit to celebrate my wedding anniversary. The restaurant uses ingredients shipped directly from Ofunato, Iwate, and the atmosphere reminded me of Kesennuma, where I visited a week ago. I ordered the seasonal saury sashimi from the recommended menu. It was delicious and comparable to what I had in Kesennuma. I love squid, so I tried the butter-grilled squid. It was served on a hot plate and was incredibly delicious! The squid didn't have any frozen taste, which was amazing! I also tried the Iwate beef cold shabu-shabu, which was delicious and went well with the sake. The sake served was a junmai sake from Ofunato called "Suizen," and the owner mentioned that they only serve junmai sake, which was great. For the finale, I ordered sushi. Since it was my first time, I ordered the special sushi set, which included high-quality ingredients. The abalone had a great texture and taste, unlike the gum-like texture I had experienced before. The other shellfish also had a nice texture and were delicious. It cost 3500 yen, but the cost-performance ratio was good. Next time, I plan to try the sashimi platter and order a futomaki roll for the finale. I found a great local restaurant and will definitely visit again!

Lately, when it comes to sushi, I come here! The head chef is from Miyagi Prefecture, so it seems like there are a lot of ingredients from Miyagi Prefecture. You can even eat Sendai's specialty beef tongue at this sushi restaurant!

I heard a rumor about a delicious sushi restaurant in the area, so I decided to check it out. When I opened the door, the first floor was almost full. Everyone was enjoying drinks and delicious seafood. The walls were lined with a variety of sake bottles that seemed to be reserved by regular customers. I couldn't help but notice the neighboring table enjoying some creamy and sweet oysters and scallops, so I ordered them too! The oysters were creamy, tender, and deliciously sweet. I wanted to order more, but I resisted the temptation. I paired the seafood with a local sake from Sanriku called "Nanbu Bijin" (only 400 yen for a small bottle, local price). I opted for the premium sushi set (2,500 yen) which included thick and delicious tuna that was so big it almost overflowed from the rice. This place is a gem for sushi lovers in the area. I finished my meal with a light miso soup. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I definitely want to visit again soon.
