Today, I visited the Ginza area, specifically around Ginza, Higashi-Ginza, and Ginza Itchome. I stopped by the main store of Boul'Mich in Ginza, which is actually where it all began. Despite being relatively affordable for a patisserie, Boul'Mich is well-known for its quality. It's interesting how some popular things actually originated from unexpected places, just like how the first game in the popular RPG series "Seiken Densetsu" was actually a "Final Fantasy" spin-off. The series started as a spin-off of FF and became a separate, hugely popular series. The resemblance between "Mana" and "Crystal" might have something to do with it. However, the original FF series has moved away from crystals and such. I wonder if there will be a true sequel to Legend of Mana. Now, let's talk about the Boul'Mich Ginza Main Store. This is the headquarters of Boul'Mich, complete with a café. Located at the intersection of Chuo Street and Ginza Sakuradori, it's a spacious and welcoming street-level store. While you may usually see their products in department store basements, the main store offers a wide range of items. There are around 15 types of fresh cakes and a vast selection of baked goods and jellies. They also have various gift assortments for souvenirs. Of course, they offer their signature Chiboust in both petit gateau and whole cake sizes. There's also a small café area with four seats where you can enjoy your cake. Here's what I had:
- Tartlet Chiboust (Ginza Main Store Limited): A Chiboust tart with caramelized apples on top. The contrast between the crunchy caramel and fluffy Chiboust is delightful, and the cold apples make it perfect for summer.
- Chocolat Fondant: A moist chocolate cream cake with mini chocolate chips on top. It has a milky, nostalgic flavor and is light and not too heavy.
- Peach Tart: A soft and moist fruit tart perfect for summer, with ripe peaches, refreshing jelly, and a hint of custard.
- Summer Fruit Yogurt Mousse: A refreshing dessert with a mix of juicy fruits and yogurt mousse, topped with blue herb syrup jelly. It's vibrant and perfect for summer, with a variety of fruits like mango, orange, kiwi, melon, blueberry, and a refreshing touch of watermelon.
- GINZA Soft Grand Marnier: Soft serve ice cream with Grand Marnier liqueur, available only at the Ginza main store. It has a subtle adult flavor from the liqueur but is still creamy and vanilla-flavored, with a cookie on top.
Despite being in a prime location in Ginza, the store was quite empty, allowing for a relaxed experience. While their cakes are delicious, I must say the soft serve ice cream was the highlight for me. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
