TAKEGOJP
On a cold day in mid-December in Japan, I visited Uozeki, but they had a temporary closure sign. I thought about going back to Hajime on Rokugo Street, but instead, I crossed the street and headed to the south exit. I checked out the menu at Gohan Gohan, but it didn't seem appealing today. Just as I was contemplating, a staff member hurriedly opened the shop. Sorry for keeping you waiting! (laughs) I decided to go back and head to that shop. When I arrived, a group of elderly people had left because the shop wasn't open, but it opened right as I got there. The mother selling bento boxes next door told the staff, "Customers left because you opened late!" It was heartwarming to see this kind of communication unique to shopping streets. I confirmed that they had grilled fish on the lunch menu at the entrance. Inside, I was directed to the second floor. I had the freedom to choose my seat, and I chose a window seat where I could see outside. I was surprised to see that I could order using a touchpad, not just for lunch but also for sushi, donburi, chirashi sushi, and ochazuke. They even served alcohol. What a paradise! (laughs) They mentioned that during lunch hours, they serve fresh fish that they prepared in Toyosu in the morning if you order sushi. I ordered the grilled toro mackerel set with karaage for 899 yen, and then I added a draft beer for 520 yen, shrimp for 110 yen, seared engawa for 110 yen, sweet shrimp for 89 yen, and engawa for 110 yen. More customers started coming in - a solo female diner, a group of three from a local construction company, and two salarymen. By the time I left at 12:30, there were three people sitting at the counter on the first floor. It's quite popular. Many people seemed to order seafood bowls. The Asahi Super Dry I ordered arrived promptly and was ice-cold. The main dish, the mackerel, arrived in about 10 minutes. The grated daikon radish in the small dish even had mentaiko. This place is a great deal! (laughs) Next, the sushi arrived. The engawa was so long! The mackerel had crispy skin and tender flesh. The flesh on the underside was not soggy, thanks to the preparation. This place is really something! (laughs) The rice in the sushi was red rice. Every dish, including the pickled vegetables, was delicious. I regret not having used this place before. I definitely want to visit again soon, even at night. I will be back.
