Located in a quiet alley in Higashi-Ginza, "Yakitori Izakaya Torisen" is a popular traditional yakitori restaurant. I visited for lunch and it is about a 2-minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station. You can spot the restaurant by the white signboard between the Kabuki-za theater and the Metropolitan Expressway. The interior has a counter with about 10 seats, 3 table seats, and additional table seats at the back. The atmosphere is filled with the unique charm of a yakitori restaurant, accompanied by soft jazz music in the background. There is a unique system in place, where you first pick up tea and pickles at the counter, then sit at the designated seat, and pay in advance before ordering. The lunch menu is only displayed inside, so it's better to decide before entering. Here are some menu items: - Yakitori Don (Grilled Chicken Rice Bowl) 1,000 yen - Curry 1,000 yen - Katsu Curry (Pork Cutlet Curry) 1,200 yen - Chicken Cutlet 1,200 yen - Cream Croquette 1,300 yen - Hanhan Don (Yakitori Don + Tsukune) 1,300 yen I ordered the Hanhan Don for 1,300 yen, which includes Yakitori Don and Tsukune. From Exit 5 of Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line Higashi-Ginza Station, go up to the ground, and you'll see a traffic light in front of you with Harumi Street on your right. Make a U-turn and head towards the Kabuki-za direction, then turn right at the first T-junction and walk a bit until you see "Yakitori Izakaya Torisen" on your right. At 12:55 on a weekday, the lunch menu is displayed outside the entrance on the right side. The menu includes: - Torisen Lunch Menu - Yakitori Donburi: 1,000 yen - Curry: 1,000 yen - Katsu Curry: 1,200 yen - Chicken Katsu: 1,200 yen - Cream Croquette: 1,300 yen - Hanhan Donburi (Yakitori Donburi + Tsukune): 1,300 yen *Self-service Since the restaurant name is "Torisen" and "Torii" is in the name, I was torn between "Yakitori Donburi," "Chicken Katsu," and "Hanhan Donburi." I decided to go with my gut feeling and entered the restaurant. As soon as I entered, the owner greeted me and asked me to sit at the counter after getting water (barley tea) and pickles at the back. I quickly ordered the "Yakitori Donburi" when asked what I wanted. While waiting, I peeked at the grill where the yakitori was being cooked. Before I knew it, the food was served (after a 5-minute wait). The "Yakitori Donburi" was delicious with sweet and savory sauce soaked into the rice, topped with grilled chicken and chopped seaweed. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and I enjoyed it with a sprinkle of sansho pepper. I finished the meal by eating the pickles, drinking the soup, and leaving the self-service restaurant "Yakitori Izakaya Torisen." It was a one-man operation by the owner today. Enjoyed the secret menu at Torisen in Higashi Ginza. In addition to the delicious yakitori, they also serve a mouthwatering menchi-katsu that only regulars know about. I heard they also have squid ink pasta, but today I had the spaghetti aglio e olio! Can't wait to go back. It turned out to be a fantastic choice! Even though I was planning to go to a second place, I tried to eat moderately, but next time I will definitely go to this place first. (I want to praise myself for not falling for the next door restaurant's invitation!) The chef jokingly said to me, "It might be a letdown, you know?" at first, but it was a hit! I was impressed from the first skewer! I recommend leaving the choice of sauce (tare) or salt up to the chef! Every yakitori skewer was exquisite and delicious! I was curious and tried the "kokoro no kori" (heart meat), which was highly recommended! It was tender and quite light, with no unpleasant smell, and it paired perfectly with the sauce. Kokoro no kori is apparently the tube that connects the heart and liver. The fact that lemon comes with the salt skewers is also amazing! If you happen to pass by, I highly recommend stopping by this restaurant! 🏃‍♀️

"Torisen," a restaurant that has been in business for over 20 years, is a yakitori restaurant located a 3-4 minute walk from Higashi-Ginza Station, near Magazine House. There are many famous restaurants in the area, such as Imakatsu for chicken tenderloin cutlets, Ginno-To for beef stew, and Kissaten You for omurice. On this day, two of us visited at 12:30 on a weekday. The interior of the restaurant has a warm atmosphere typical of traditional yakitori restaurants. Unlike in the evening, there was no strong smell of salarymen, and there were many female customers. The lunch menu includes set meals like fried chicken, chicken cutlet, and cream croquettes, rice bowl dishes like yakitori and tsukune, as well as curry rice. I ordered the "tsukune rice bowl (1,150 yen)." The bowl comes with miso soup and pickles. The rice bowl was topped with six stick-shaped chicken tsukune, which had a chewy texture due to the cartilage. The sweet yakitori sauce on the tsukune was so delicious that I could keep eating even without the yakitori. While it wasn't mind-blowingly delicious, the nostalgic flavor of the yakitori made me personally satisfied with the lunch. The intimidating chef was actually quite funny, engaging in friendly conversations with customers. Next time, I want to enjoy yakitori with a beer after work. Lastly, yakitori restaurant lunches offer the same deliciousness as dinners, providing a consistently enjoyable dining experience at any restaurant.

I discovered a delicious lunch spot that I had visited a long time ago, even though I was short on time. I tried the Hanhan Don for 1200 yen, which had half tsukune and half yakitori on top. I love being able to try both! They also serve soft-serve ice cream that you can mix yourself. They cook the food right in front of you, which is great! Unlike a famous restaurant in Omotesando that serves pre-cooked and reheated food, this place was different! The rice was moist and delicious, and they also served miso soup, pickles, and salad for women. The staff were friendly and overall it was a great restaurant experience!

It's always a lucky day when this shop is open. Every time I pass by, I hope they're open. Sometimes, I miss the timing or they're sold out. But when I finally get to eat, it's really delicious. Lunch on October 26, 2020 (Monday). A restaurant located on the east side of Showa Street in Ginza 4-chome. It is advertised as a "yakitori izakaya" and was about half full when I arrived around 12:03 pm, but it quickly became crowded. I ordered the "hanhan-don" (¥1000), which I assumed was a half-and-half combination of yakitori don (¥800) and tsukune don (¥950) since those were also on the menu. There were other options like karaage set meal (¥800), chicken cutlet set meal (¥950), and even katsu curry (¥950). The hanhan-don I received had a good mix of juicy yakitori and crunchy tsukune with a moderate sauce. The miso soup had a strong flavor of sansho pepper. Today, there were 102 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Tokyo and 401 nationwide.

I was hungry so I went to a yakitori restaurant. They serve 2 skewers per type of yakitori, so it may not be ideal for solo dining. I was surprised to see the chicken breast skewered as is. Is this normal? Quite innovative! It was tender and delicious. Overall, it was neither good nor bad... just average, I suppose.

This time, I visited a shop that I had seen before and was interested in. I ordered the Yakitori Don for 800 yen. The Donburi comes with miso soup and pickles as a set. Before the Yakitori Don arrived, I was served a salad (daikon salad) and pickles by a female server. The Yakitori Don and miso soup were served in about 5 minutes. The yakitori is grilled right in front of you, so you can wait while enjoying the delicious smell. The Yakitori Don had plenty of chicken and was quite filling. The sweet and savory seasoning soaked into the meat well, and the chicken was tender and delicious. The seasoning was strong, but the rice soaked in the sauce was also tasty. Being freshly grilled, it had a fragrant smell and warmth. I'm also interested in trying the curry and Tsukune Don next time.

A quick stop in Higashi Ginza. The shop has a charming atmosphere with a nostalgic feel. The interior is non-smoking and has around 40 seats. The counter seats are a bit close together, so it might feel cramped for larger or male customers. Last order is at 10 pm, so you can only visit earlier in the evening. The yakitori costs around 200 yen per skewer, with a minimum order of 2 skewers. Unlike chain restaurants, each skewer is carefully prepared and satisfying to eat. The appetizer was grated daikon with seasoning. The staff were attentive, making for a pleasant and delicious dining experience. Thank you for the meal.

I had passed by this place many times and was curious about it, but had never tried it. On this day, I suddenly felt like going in after seeing the lunch menu outside the restaurant. When I entered, the tables were full and the counter seats were almost all taken, so I was seated at a spot at the back of the counter just as someone finished their meal. I asked about the daily special and it was croquette curry, so I decided to order the grilled chicken rice bowl with less rice. It cost 800 yen. Soon after, my meal arrived. I had imagined that it would be skewered grilled chicken like at Isehiro, but it was thinly sliced grilled thigh meat with sauce. It had a firm texture with a slightly dry feel, maybe there was also some breast meat. The sauce was not too strong or too light, just the right balance. I'll try the chicken cutlet or croquette next time.

It's nice that the yakitori restaurant also offers lunch. The onion salad before the main dish is refreshing. The standard yakitori bowl is delicious and light.
